I thought I was escaping the Texas ice storm by traveling to the southern coast of Texas in my van, but I ended up trapped down south until the storm passed. This is my first trip in the van since getting a cottage home in the Dallas, Texas area. I had it all planned out to visit with my friend Dani as she travels in her new converted van (a Ram Promaster 3500) that's a custom build. Thankfully we were able to do a quick van tour of her custom build and hunker down together in Corpus Christi, Texas.

We saw the video clips over and over here in Florida of cars sliding on the ice on the news. It reminded me of what the country sees when we have hurricanes! Our hearts go out to those affected by weather, but while you are experiencing it, it’s awful! Love your channel Amber.

Hi Amber, so sorry about the cold. It’s cold here in Chicago. I use a hot water bottle under my bed covers and it helps with my cold feet. I don’t know if that would help you with sleep at night.

I really want to sell my house and go full time, i feel as though i am wasting my life being a lawyer and dealing with convicts all day!!!! Working 7 am to 11 pm and then only have an hour to shower play video games and go to bed! I am living vicariously through these videos and for real that episode about lily (which my very first pet was also named lily) was a sign from above that i really ought to go ahead and do it.!!!

We were in Grapevine n Aug. 31 when the Ice storm started. We had to get back to Houston for work. Left at 8:30am the roads were fairly empty. The road was frozen and you could only determine if you were in a lane when you went under a bridge. Very scary. We drove very slowly and were fortunate to not have any issues.

My mom and stepdad live in Harlingen. Their retirement resort is on the other side of Business 83, a tiny bit down the road from that Bass Pro shop and Cracker Barrel. It seems like a relatively safe city. Hope you enjoy the gulf coast, Amber!

Brrrrr, I hate being cold! I'm glad that the Houston area didn't get the freeze, ice, power outages & all that. Whew! I was in CC in December, went to Padre, didn't even park. The beach was too shallow, sand too deep. Moved onto Port Aransas. Much better! Yep, I get the solar thing. After 4 nights on the beach, no sun, I was forced to Mustang Island SP, which is a nice park & affordable! Had power! It's good to GTG with friends 😊👍 I'm thinking of buying land outside of San Antonio.

Great video. Being an Aussie I forgot Texas has the ocean aswell. You always think Texas oil cowboy movies, desert. It seems to have everything. I love your friends RV the wall paper looks like proper tiles. She has done well. I bought myself step ladder im only 5.2ft. I really hope you feel better soon. I absolutely love Dani’s van!!!!! Does she travel fulltime? I am so super jealous you ate at Cracker Barrel. The closest one to me is over in Idaho. I cannot believe we dont have one in the Seattle area yet! I am so looking forward to your tiny house tour in Austin. I have seen them on other channels and they are so darn adorable. Very much that cottage feel that I think is right up your alley!!! So right now I am going to attempt to manifest a van like Dani’s into my life and also a tiny (affordable) house for a home base. With a storm coming, why did you feel like you had to run away from it. Or was it a pre-planned trip? You now have a nice sticks and bricks with all the accessories if your power were to go out. You know how to camp girl, no need to run!
