I have two problems with Coach Day. He doesn’t play to win, he likes to play where he won’t lose. Secondly, he doesn’t use his weapons like he needs to. It’s insane how much talent we have that isn’t used to its full potential. And I always have not been too keen on ol’ Ryan
As a huge Buckeye fan I agree with you! Don’t understand what he is doing sometimes! With all that talent, your right, he doesn’t take advantage of it, he will choose to run the ball, when it’s not working, because the other team loads the box, so just throw the damn ball to the best receiving core in the nation, with the best receiver in Mazz Marv! Just makes me crazy, never have been a coach of any kind, but could make better decisions than I have seen him make in many games! It’s unbelievable! 🌰🏈
Coach Day understands all of this and is working with what he has. It's why the university hired him. If you were at the helm - I bet your tone would change, STAT.
No one does LESS with MORE than ryan day. Period. The man has a ferrari and is afraid to take it out of first gear. Harbaugh was right about 3rd base. And Ryan day is in over his head. This man has a top 5 class every year. Sad.
@@deathgrinderb3284 True. He's a great coach. Hopefully we can get mike vrable next year. No one else will do that the pundits talk about; liepold? Nope....doesnt understand ohio st vs michigan. Ive seen other names. We need an ohio boy, born and bread. Mike vrable!
Oh my Lord. They played the most underrated team in college football, and exceptionally good Missouri team, with a third string quarterback last minute. No coach on the planet was going to change the outcome of that game.
@@kevistation what about the game before that. Do you think they played and nobody team and lost? People who watch college football seem to be exceptionally stupid
I agree, but Day has not coached very well recently! He makes some bad play calling decisions, doesn’t take enough chances when needed to win games! Too conservative, should have beaten Georgia last year, did coach well in that game, but wish he would coach like that all the time! 🌰🏈
C.J. Stroud almost lead them to beating Georgia last year. It was horrible execution toward the end that caused them to lose. Which in turn is Ryan days fault
I agree. CJ was torching the Georgia defense. He scrambles for a first down with a min or so left. Instead of keeping his foot on the gas, day calls a draw play, settles for a field goal. They miss!!!! As a Michigan fan, I just am in awe of the talented players there but love watching the team lose.
Yeah I couldn’t believe how passive Ohio state played the last drive of that game. Why settle for a 50 yard field goal when you have plenty of time to get closer.
Ryan Day coached against GA carefree and loose until shit got real then he went back to his true self. He’s not cut out for such a high profile pressure cooker job
Orrrrrrr it was the fact that MHJ was knocked out of the game. Honestly listening to so called Ohio State fans cry like Michigan Bitche$ has me being embarrassed to call myself an Ohio State fan.
@@cwhit0110 Well! Buckeye fans would love to return your wish for Michigan to get beat in the National Championship! Usually I root for all Big 10 teams to win there bowl games, and when they play out of conference during the regular season, because it makes our conference look better to the nation, but because of the way those cheating assholes got there, I hope Harbaugh, and company get there ass kicked in the Natty! 🌰🏈
Been watching the channel for a while haven’t commented much but I’ve watched the last like 35 videos in a row really love the content. Keen doing great thing #MattBeBreakingBacks
After watching OSU try to sit on a 3 point lead and refuse to throw when there were 8 stacked in the box for 4 straight possessions confirmed what I said after he didnt trust CJ Stroud for an additional 10-15 yards last year against UGA. He has no balls and is the reason they are losing.
Think Georgia was pretty scared of them last year lmao, let’s not pretend UGA didn’t need a miracle to survive that game. And I’m not an Ohio state fan lol
@@calebleeson5662 no by Ohio state being dumb and going for a 50 yard game winning kick instead of trying to get more yards. If that’s a 40 yard field goal that’s huge difference. Also Marvin Harrison always going off to so I bet they win if he isn’t intentionally injured
Gator fan here, it wasn't targeting. It was a hard hit in.......football... the sport where people wear pads due to getting hit or hittiing. lol Ohio State fans
Players wanted to run thru a brick wall for Urban and Tressel. Can't say that about Day. Everybody questions our toughness and we fold in 4th quarters. We don't run the ball anywhere near how we used to either
I’m a Husker fan but if the #1 WR sits out and a freshman quarterback plays almost the entire game you wouldn’t expect to win a bowl game. If a coach has a better then 50-50 bowl record that’s good.
Why, OSU isn't a one-trick pony? What good would it have done to have Marvin in if the O-Line can't protect the QB? Also, you obviously have forgotten we won the Natty with our third-string QB. We did that because he was prepared, Kienholtz was not.
@montecraig7032 I'm a Nebraska fan and am with you. On the other hand, let's see Day leave, Michigan get decimated by the NCAA and FBI and Saban retire. One more thing, IMO Ohio State fans are the most arrogant, obnoxious, entitled fans in the country. That's my hot take, anyway. GBR
He doesn't respect the rivalry and just passed on Jordan Marshall, who is Mr Ohio out of Cincinnati. Instead, Day took a rb out of Texas. You have to keep the kids from Ohio, they get it.
I'm NGL, when you first started saying this I kinda thought it was clickbait, but you convinced me to take a second look after last year's Michigan game and decided to watch a little closer this year and... yeah, none of this, none of how OSU's season ended was really a surprise to me. Mad props, you were clearly right.
I wouldn't go soo far and say we have nothing to show for it but I will agree that we don't have enough hardware to validate the successful recruitments we have had in place. Coach Day is more of a tactician than a "rah rah!" Fire up the players' type of coach. On-screen, he seems like a very logical X's & O's person and not a step-on-your-neck type of competitor.
@@LAZ773 we need 4th down conversions and QBs that step up in the pocket, and run. And we've lost the only games that matter every year lol. Non big 10 people don't care about Penn St and Notre Dame wins
@@mrray7792 I care about Penn St and ND losses. Penn St because of that scandal a few years ago in which the lives of several children were ruined and ND because they think they are entitled. ND made a huge mistake joining that PAC12, uh, ACC conference. If ND was real, they would join the B10.
@@zoeledwards6617 I have no fucking idea who "Matt" is, and I do not have to admit anything, and I am not asking you to like it. And the old "I told you so" sounds like one of the bitches on the Real Housewives.
Considering that the state of Ohio has immense high school football talent, OSU could build a national title caliber team without ever recruiting out of state. No excuse for Ryan Day not to have multiple national titles at OSU.
Really because the state of Ohio is struggling in that are because they're not permitted to have the spring football states like Texas, Georgia and Florida have where all the talent is coming from. That's why Ohio State brings in so many recruits from those states. If Day wasn't get those recruits it would be problem.
@@ScottCleve33 Ohio State is a top 5 high school recruiting state for major college football! I believe I heard they were #4 nationally, only Texas, Florida, and probably California would be ahead of them, just because of those states being much higher populated states to choose from! 🌰🏈
@@gunguru7020LSU ain't our #1 conference rival. Auburn always is. Yeah LSU is our most challenging game most years, but Auburn is the team we always love beating the most....
@@gunguru7020I would PREFER LSU in the hunt for the natty, but we aren’t, ARE we? I want the SEC to DOMINATE because when we DO win, and we will, it makes those wins so much better. Geaux Tigers!
I’m a Buckeye fan who’s given you a lot of shit over the last 2 years but you’re absolutely right on this. Ryan Day is the Josh McDaniels of college football. He’s a decent OC but he doesn’t know how to be a head coach. He coaches scared which leads to his teams playing scared. Gene Smith is retiring this year which basically gave him a free year though to answer your question on why he is still here
It’s crazy how far in college you can fall in less then a year. One missed field goal from a national title and now here it is. I don’t think teams will fall this far going forward with a 12 team playoff. I blame the system but also bad coaching last night
Ohio State had fallen? They went 11-1 in the regular season, lost to Michigan by one score and has a great recruiting class coming in. The loss to Missouri was because they had to start a backup QB with virtually no playing time and when he got injured the had to go to a QB with even less experience. Ohio State fans are getting as fragile as Michigan fans.
@@a_goblue2023nah its just Jordan Hare being built on a literal Indian burial ground and thus being absolutely fucking cursed. Auburn had both Alabama and Georgia at home this year and almost beat both of them. Georgia also needed a Q4 miracle to beat Auburn. Auburn only plays Bama and Georgia well in odd numbered years or whenever they get to play at home.
I love how he's coined as the coach who's "born on third base". He's given the world and takes a happy meal. The guy can recruit, gotta give him that....
I am going to DEFEND RYAN DAY. Exhibit A: He Has a great overall record. Exhibit B: He has a great record in the Big 10. Exhibit C: He has a great record in the Big 10 East (Excluding Michigan). Exhibit D: He has a great record against UNRANKED Teams. Exhibit E: Speaking of Records, he has NO Criminal Record. Exhibit F: I tried my best, but I can't defend this guy. Fire his ass. The defense rests, you honor.
He reminds me of the people today that believes everyone should get a trophy and not have to compete for it. I don't know when we became so soft as human beings but this deal that everyone is a winner to keep from hurting someone's feelings. This ideology has weakened us as a society and as a Country because it takes away a person's desire for competition and their willingness to set goals and work hard to accomplish them so you can enjoy the feeling of being a winner. Winners win and losers lose and somebody has to win and someone has to lose. Until we get back to letting people taste the agony of defeat we're going to keep going downhill because you're taking away the fire that burns inside of all of us to overcome adversity and achieve that feeling of success and being a winner. #MattBMrClean #MattBBald #MattBGreat
How are you losing when your team is riddled with 4 & 5 Star Players and you have YEARS upon YEARS of Top Recruiting Classes? Answer, the Coach isn't that good.
You don't NEED a big name. Jim Tressel was a *Division I-AA coach* when tOSU hired him. You need a GOOD COACH who can build an OFFENSIVE LINE and make Ohio State a PHYSICAL team again.
I may be biased because I’m a Michigan fan but like who are you gonna replace him with? When people were calling for Harbaugh’s job and I didn’t like the guys coaching back then and I love the improvements he has made. But I would always say “who are you going to hire to replace him” same with penn st’s coach. Who would be better?
Jim Harbaugh lost multiple times to TOSU . 8 straight and 7 straight for TOSU this minimum. The rivalry goes back and forth in chunks. That's what makes it different. You are right about Ryan not being great . He is the best TOSU can get. If all his stars align he can win like Dabo or Lane. They all can't adjust for the talent they have. It has to fit into the system they run. Saban, Kirby and urban are rare. They can make great teams around the talent they have not a system they run.
Really! You think Day is the best Ohio State can get? With there history as one of the best blue bloods of all time, come on, until recently they had the highest winning percentage all time in college football! Look at the players they put in the NFL, great program, they have the money, and clout to get just about any top rated coach they want, just like recruiting, and getting most of the top rated 4,and 5 stars they want every year! 🌰🏈
Uh, Florida is a top 5 public university per US News and World Report with Virginia, Michigan and UCLA. Vanderbilt is also a top rated private university.
Ok ok let’s say they fire him Matt. Who they go after? Only person I think that would be an upgrade is maybe Kellen deboer which is definitely a possibility but let know your thoughts
Bro If u came out w this video after the Michigan game I would get it but We just played with our 3rd string qb (true freshman) and our best player did not play. IT IS TWO GAMES
Piss poor perpetuation on Offense dog fucked an absolutely Stellar Defensive performance. Missouri beat the shit out of y'all behind the LOS the same way State took it to Cook and Missouri. Ohio State broke first Game. Missouri. Out
Correct me if im wrong but ohio state is sorta going through what Nebraska was going through a couple of years ago. Back when Nebraska still had very high standards. The head coach at the time (forgot name) was getting them to 10-2, 9-3 seasons and the fanbase was unhappy with performance so they fired him. Needless to say, nebraska never reach those heights since. Now if ohio state fires ryan day, could this same thing happen? Probably not, but i would imagine they would under perform for at least a year or two under a new coach. Be careful what you wish for is all i can say. #MattBeClappingRyanDay
@@ggrene8266People called for Tom Osborne’s head too at first. He would win pretty much every game but he couldn’t win the “big ones”. Everyone wanted him fired until he was finally able to break through and field dominant teams. Now he is considered one of the best coaches in CFB history.
Depends who they hire if they get rid of Day. Urban Meyer had Ohio State at the top when he left and if they could get him back he could probably get them back there. The problem is IDK that UM wants to coach anymore. Outside of that idk who else could get them over the hump that would be willing to go there. They also have to remember it’s not going to just be Michigan they are competing against since Oregon and Washington are coming in next year. I think Ohio State is going to have to get a better coach if they want to do better than 10-2 or 11-1.
I agree. Ohio State fans are overreacting. They're buying into all the negative outside media reaction to what's going on. SEC fan boys like Matt be Great who love to bash Big Ten teams distort things. The Ohio State program is fine. They just had one of the best recruiting classes in the nation. They do have a QB issue to sort out but there's no reason to think they won't be able to. This is just people piling on to them.
Good point about Lincoln Riley. He is a decent coach but we know he is going to lose 3-5 games a year. He doesn't have high expectations on him. Why they pay him all that money is another subject.
ok as an OSU fan this game was painful to watch, Ryan Day shouldn't be fired, but a lot needs to change. For one he shouldn't be the OC, he was great under Urban Meyer but the combination of HC and OC is keeping him from being able to call a damn football game. If he stays the head coach but hires a new offensive coordinator Ohio State should be fine
I am a Michigan Wolverine fan and Day is going to kill that rivalry because Ohio St. just sucks and it is no fun when they are terrible.. It's fun when they are good or even better than Michigan; because then I could root for Michigan to upset them and knock them out of championship contention.. Now I almost feel sorry for them. Last night they literally had who looked like a linebacker playing QB and it was just miserable to watch..
The rivalry will always be there. Ryan Day won't kill it any more than John Cooper did. And I will always be for Michigan (and anyone else!) against Ohio State!!
So Matt, let's say Ohio State does fire Ryan Day, then who do you say should hire to replace him that would be an elite great head coach? Ohio State needs to know that before they fire Day. Name some names. Urban Meyer is not coming back and dealing with the transfer portal and NIL headaches.
The second he sits down in his new office he should be on the phone to Jason Eck. Mr. Eck reminds me a lot of Jim Tressel when Mr. Tressel was coaching Youngstown State.
you can’t call ryan day a fraud when he made the playoffs and nearly beat Georgia having 1-2 losses a year is extremely good.. Why would they fire him for losing one game..And who would they possibly hire that’s better?
It’s a VERY long list of coaches that would be better than Ryan Day.In no particular order off the top of my head-Kyle Whittingham,Jeff Broughm,Lane Kiffin,Mike Vrabel…hell I’d be happy to see Brian Hartline.any of these guys would at least PLAY TO WIN AND HAVE THE TEAM READY.UGA fans said the same thing when they had Mark Richt.
