Pleasantly surprised how good Yakuza feels despite being slow in terms of combo speed. Ive definitely been using it much more than Agent, especially since Agent feels pretty bad against bosses imo.
Yeah Yakuza def feels better than Agent surprisingly enough, although I am using a mod that makes Yakuza style faster so that’s prolly also a big part 😈
@@Supermariosupervideoyeah and a big thing too is unlike LJ and JE where the EX combo is a separate combo you can do in EX boost, in Agent it outright replaces the standard rush combo for literally no reason
@@DillionTwell I also think it fine but I felt like it still limited compared to 2 and 3 and my problem is that there not alot moves for you to crow control
imo, the combat is least better than ishin kiwami and kaito files, but compare to y1 to 6 is kinda weak. And compare to two judgment games? gaiden is getting juggle by these two
IMO its good from what've played, Yakuza style is easily the better of the 2, Agent is fine but it feels undercooked, like you can't cancel out of some rush combos, EX Heat rush combo outright replaces the standard rush combo which is very questionable, there is also a kind off juggle limit where the enemy just falls to the ground after 9-10 hits, which is eh, IMO LJ's juggling is way better. The game could've done a better job explaining some mechanics to the player since some of the stuff I do in the vid is never explained in the game, like did you know there is a combo speed boost for Yakuza style that only happens when the enemy is hit by a charged attack and they're on the ground. IMO this combat is like JE tier which is like the A to B tier stuff, not the S tier that LJ was unfortunately.
@@DillionT thanks for the detailed response! Yes, I feel the same about the Agent style as well, kinda hoped it at least have some form of parry for a defensive style but unfortunately, there were none. And for the information about the speed boost, wow, never would have guessed without you mentioning it. And my other problem with the combat is that the bosses even the mini bosses have way too much random hyper amour and being too fast for the slowest Kiryu imo!
@@DillionT and the fact that Kiryu has no speed upgrade as well, that's criminal for him to be this slow when all the bosses have the speed of LJ bosses
all of that and Yagami's moveset is more tailored to juggling since he has a lot of easy launchers, Kaito too also has an easy time setting up juggles by just chucking them to a wall to bound them then doing the charged beast rush combo, Kiryu though idk, guess we'll just have to figure it out like we did with Kaito.
@@DillionT yeah! Hopefully you and the Yakuza community can find a reliable juggling option for Gaiden! As for me, the only decently consistent way of juggling boss has been square>triangle>triangle (and hopefully the boss doesn't randomly have hyper amour)
So.... how do you like the game so far? Also I already found an infinite against bosses with agent style. While into a corner, grab, light attack/circle, square/B, X. Rince and repeat and they will die slowly:)
My experience went from me being miserable through some very annoying fights while delirious without sleep to enjoying it much more after getting further in.
Gotta love how SM PS4, AC Mirage, Yakuza games all had slow swinging, parkour, combat and it was upto modders to make things faster. Hopefully RGG actually acknowledges these mods and actually make combat faster on subsequent beat em ups
Ngl Gaiden was pretty good, solid 8/10. Today I got to play around with the combo speed mod however and it felt absolutely orgasmic, especially fighting the higher tier coliseum bosses
@@KaitoThwBruiser the story was fine despite it having a lot of needless grinding to progress the akame network etc (which idc about since I 100% these games), still could've done away with it The combat was pretty good but there are so many dumb decisions like the slow speed of the yakuza style which makes me it feel clunky, the impracticality of stuff like the ciggie bomb, the slow style switch speed that makes you miss juggles and the hit-bounce on enemies going into their heat mode. These same people made Lost Judgment and they really should've copied everything good about it instead of reverting some things here or there.
Actually not that bad, but i change some keys like Guard to Q, Ready stance from Middle Mouse to Shift, and extreame to T.. it still good for combos with keyboard just like gamepad (got reference this setting from Isshin) from now i think i dont really need gamepad play RGG games
does your 3rd finisher almost always whiff? particularly on the charged upper cut one? I can never get it to land naturally they always seem to recover. I like the Ideas in this game but they feel under cooked. Bosses feel like dog shit though, still feel positive about the game overall, though I think it could've used a extra 2 months in the oven to flesh out agent.
@@DillionT yeah I figured if they replaced triple finisher with a combo speed buff I wouldn't complain. Kiryu even alludes how impractical the technique is in the text which is kinda funny.
What're your thoughts on Gaiden? I feel like my attacks whiff a lot but it could just be that I'm not actually hitting the opponent, although I've noticed a lot in the past. You said you're using a mod that speeds up attack speed on Yakuza style so that might help with that issue.
Game was developed in 6 months and it shows, agent is a bit undercooked rush combo wise, rocket boots are fun asf tho, Yakuza style while I do like it for how powerful it feels, is a bit too slow, especially with how aggressive enemies are on professional
ngl the combat feels really undercooked. The DE games have built upon each entry, but this one forgot everything that made its combat great. They removed parry, the animations are too slow for the enemies you fight (mainly boss encounters), and no hidden art mechanic from LJ which you'd think would be present after how well it changed the combat loop. 😞
There is a hidden art mechanic for combo speed in yakuza style but its useless lol, basically hit them with charged attack and only when they're on the ground, not in the air like a juggle combo, will you get the boost, as soon as they get up boost is gone
dis combat got me feeling some type of way. a lot of things about it suck complete dick ((like hiding a CHA mechanic that seems really inconsistent, and having a lot of agent finishers be non quickstep cancellable)) but i also really like a lot of the things theyve done with it. the juggling is great (albeit not as good as LJ), the agent shit is very strange but also stupidly fun for crowd control, and i really like that the reversal attacks (for yakuza style, at least) actually have a purpose for once, now being juggle starters. also maybe im just a shitter but this game feels way harder, which i like, but thats probably just cuz im not used to this combat yet. anyways, i think with mods this game will probably be top 3 combat wise, for me at least. also the dlc movesets are fucking DOGSHIT lmao. genuinely worse than modded movesets
