@@janeseamore1370 First, no evidence of that, and second - so what? I was good friends for 10 years with a neighbor who was a middle school science teacher. Then one of the many students he had molested over the years got him recorded on a cassette tape (yeah, I am old). He was convicted of both those things because he also passed his boys around (for money usually) within a group of equally sick friends. But all I and the other neighbors saw was a normal guy who would come to the barbecue, or throw a Super Bowl party, or whatever. Frankly, I did not believe the accusations until the audio tapes were revealed. I let MY kids hang out at his house with his kids! These people don't wear signs, and are good at blending in. I am not responsible for his crimes just because I knew him.

I turned 49 this year. My dad was a lawyer - a partner in his law firm. I remember as a child going into his office and the room of women typing away - before the innovation of electrical typewriters - this were the big old fashioned ones where the keys would jam in the middle - and corrections were hard to fix

I'm in my 30s, and I remember typing early school projects on an electric typewriter before we got a computer. It did have automatic whiteout, so you could backspace, but it used a special whiteout ribbon that was expensive, so I got in trouble if I made too many mistakes.

We had a Smith Corona portable in our house growing up. Had the red/black ribbon, too. Funny, the one class in high school I recall best was typing. We got to use those amazing IBM Selectrics!

So funny. I am the same age as Steven Colbert and I went to college in the early 2000s. When I handed in my first English paper my teacher looked at me snd said: This is typed. To which I replied: right. I assumed you didn’t want it hand written. She replied: I did. But this is from a type writer. I replied: is that a problem? To which she replied: no, just unexpected. 😂 I loved that typewriter. It was so compact snd never crashed. Had it for decades. Cant say the same of a laptop. And then you can’t as easily carry a printer with you. I lived in tiny spaces for many years. The typewriter fit. Not until I got my first iPad did I finally stopped using the typewriter.

Tom’s book, “Uncommon Type” is such a good read. It’s a collection of short stories and in each story there is something about a typewriter...whether the focal point of the story or in the story in some other way. Seriously good stuff.

Great movie...the little girl is amazing...so my two main crushes... Jimmy Stewart...both born in Indiana, Pa. My grandmother went to school with him. She took me to meet his father at his hardware store. But he wasn't there.. in hospital. The front windows full of Jimmy's awards and pictures. Wrote him once but he was much older and didn't reply. My second crush...Tom Hanks. ♥️
