You should get one of those shower scrubbers for your scalp. It actually works better for me than using my fingernails and it gets my scalp properly clean. If you live in the U.S., Dollar Tree has them.

I don't think it has sodium hydroxide in it in its current form, but NaOH (or KOH) are used in the saponification process to make soaps. It won't burn you anymore once that process has occurred. 👍🏿 Biomed student. I don't love chem, but I find soap making interesting.

Thanks. I’m ok though. I see that about 75% of the people who commented have used/use it currently and are fine as well. We intake bad ingredients from things probably everyday. Im sure things in our lotions, foods, perfumes, etc aren’t good as well. I definitelyunderstand where you are coming from though.

Dawn soap is safe to use on skin. It’s drying af but it’s safe.

Becca I think you lost me at surfactants that stick to skin....surfactants have to do with surface tension and I am not sure what you mean by they stick to the skin and cause irritation........you have surfactant in lungs. Also I use it to kill fleas on my dog and they use it in oil spills on animals.......I put my hands in it to wash dishes so I don’t know how it could be so toxic.....it also works well with acne..... Once in a while. I would think it’s fine for a clarifier because it breaks down oil so well. I wouldn’t use it often. But maybe q 6 mos or once a year or so....

Shamel Cutkelvin no offense but you must be young and I hope I don’t sound rude, dish soap is used to clean all the oils and dirt off of dishes so whenever you eat, you won’t have to worry about eating something off a dirty dish. if you use dish soap too much on your hair, the hair will start to dry out drastically because the natural oils your hair has will start to decrease

I would use VO5 Strawberry & Cream and other fun smelly shampoo and conditioner if I was not trying to have straight as possible hair. I was using Suave version of Matrix.Sleek, now using Suave Keratin Shampoo and leave in conditioner. But when could not afford shampoo and conditioner easily after moving in with my roommate, there were times I used body wash in my hair, and seemed better on me than shampoo but no conditioner. I would use just the body wash, at times could not get conditioner, or I could, but hair was less fluffy without it. This was before I gotten a new blowdryer with comb attachments. I used it for a short bit, but my left and dominant shoulder still has effect of injury after 8 or 9 years, so, I went back to air set it hair because my shoulder would hurt from scratching to remove dandruff. I got a $10 mini blow dryer ( Revlon, I believe ), and I made sure I can use my comb attachment with it by using an attachment from a box of Red by Kiss blowdryer, and thankfully, the option is there! My last bought blow dryer is Red by Kiss, but it won't go to waste, I can use that dryer with a hood attachment I got for it. This mini dryer I like to think I can handle with comb attachment or I just comb or brush through my hair while drying. I did use Dawn, maybe 3 times, in a row. The third time seemed to dry my hair out, but not to point of damage, fortunately!

I didn't have enough shampoo left to clean my hair from all of the product in it so I used a tiny squirt of dish washing liquid. I don't ever want to do that again. 😁

Dawn shoulda only be used every 4 weeks. It's robe of those things that are made to remove oils so if you do use it often just make sure you moisturize well
