I guided many young folks at my previous job - having been there 28.5 years. ON the day I was leaving because I and many others were laid off (the plant eventually closed), all these young folks came and THANKED me for providing financial advisement and PUSHING THEM to GET into the company's 401K. Each bragged how much money they had saved...and you could tell they were proud. THAT event was VERY satisfying.....and getting a 39 week severance package with health coverage.... @ryandelsignore 3 года назад
@@dianecelento4974 That’s a great question. I don’t know if there are any that stick out in particular. I think it’s experience that I remember, more so than the words that were exchanged. They were content, wise, and in many cases genuinely happy. I just found it fascinating that so many people in what I would consider “tough spots” didn’t act like it. And on the other hand I know so many people with more money than they know what to do with that are full of bitterness. Not saying money is evil, that’s a fallacy. I just think it’s interesting that money sort of becomes irrelevant on the scale of happiness or contentment. Take care

This might sound stupid, but I would personally go on as many road trips as time would allow and completely randomly give and help broke strangers. Imagine the feeling of walking into walmart in the poorest area of the county and walking down to every register for about 10 minutes paying for everyone's groceries - you'd make their MONTH. This past december just before christmas, we went to a restaurant and our bill was about $34, we left $80 on the table, we didn't get to see her face, but it just feels so good to know you're making someone's day or week.

those are great things to do, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't change their life trajectory. what would be great would be to give strangers money, but also teach them a little bit about basic personal finance and compound interest. a simple compound interest calculator example is what really made it click for me. an example such as 10k invested each year for 40 years at a 7% return ends up being worth $2,136,095. 10's of millions of people in the US can afford to invest 10k a year, but very few of them actually do so, because of fear or simply not knowing what they're missing out on.

There’s so many things a person could do in this position...help repair homes for the elderly, build ramps for the disabled, buy Christmas gifts for kids that wouldn’t have a Christmas otherwise, have holiday dinners for the homeless, poor or elderly and cook and help serve it, sponsor homes for people recovering from addictions or domestic violence and help mentor those people,....I wish this was my problem. I don’t have a lot to give but I still try to little things that sometimes aren’t even about money. A few weeks ago, the line was seriously slow at a little grocery store I was in. There were three guys that looked like they had just got off work and was tired and only had a few items. I was ahead of them line but I insisted they go first. They were so appreciative and just kept thanking me...and it was such a small thing...but I really didn’t have much extra money that week and that was my small act of kindness. Sometimes I’ll give a child begging for a candy bar just five bucks...that’s a little tricky..you have to okay it with the parent..but you can often tell when that parent just doesn’t have it as opposed to they just don’t want their child to have it. But I don’t judge..I just don’t. Once a woman was paying in change for cigarettes in front of me in line and you could tell she had a super hard life, probably on drugs, but I bought those. It may have been the only kindness shown to her in a year...who knows. I try to be observant and if there’s some small thing I can do, I step up and do it. I can’t do much, because I’m not in that position, but these small things help me, and people are very appreciative of kindness.

I really recommend giving to small, local charities, not giant "corporate" ones. You'll get to see how your gift helps in much more tangible ways. Find local homeless shelters, women's shelters, pregnancy care centers, after-school programs, etc. They always have lists of things they need it's a lot more rewarding and tangible to buy a new washing machine for a shelter than it is to just write a $500 check. Both are great of course, but if you're struggling to feel like you're making a difference, just going a level deeper with more personal gifts (of money OR time) can make a huge difference.

Not a millionaire, not 27 BUT I am on baby step 6 and I gotta say, I thought paying off the house would have made me feel "happier" longer. I mean I'm relieved but not happy. We worked so hard to check that box now it feels weird that it's done. 😕

This kinda happened to me too. I don’t have a house paid off but money isn’t much of an object. It’s weird and disheartening.

I'm 48 and I'm in very good financial shape too. I've realized that I think I know my future based upon my phone games.... every game I play, I hoarde, I've quit a couple of them and I had a ton of in-game money when I quit. At least I'll be able to pass something on.

I would love to have that problem. So many things you can do like buy a car that you can enjoy. Go on trips with your family around the world. Go do things that will give you memories so you don’t die regretting you never did something you wanted to. One day I’ll get there

I've been struggling a lot with choosing a degree to pursue and in turn a career. I have been debating if I wanted to go into real estate or finance. Or if I wanted to become a registered nurse. This video allowed me to realized I need to pursue a career as an RN, and I hope to start nursing school soon. Thank you.

the nursing field is a great choice, and if you ever decide to get a higher degree like a nurse practitioner or MD, you will already have medical experience and a good paying job to pay for the higher education. you could also be an RN and do real estate on the side. i have an RN friend who works 1 week on and 1 week off, so if you had a job like that then half your month you could devote to real estate.
