In this episode of the van build, Becca recounts a little accident she's had with Betty recently, then she and her dad I fix the damage. After, Becca paints pretty much the whole van in three layers of paint before adding some accent colours, oh, and a bit of caulking thrown in too. And finally, her mum has finished covering the sofa and cushions with fabric and you get to see her hard work in all its glory.

its looking superb, colour choices are on point and mama's done a grand job :) You handled the incident like a champ, took a step back...found a solution and then went to ebay and bettered that for you and dad to complete the repair...all great experience for tackling the road ahead, great to watch it all unfold from hearing how you came about planting the seed of this adventure and now seeing the fruits of that team work and passion come through......for both the sunny days and the storms you endure to bring it altogether, thank you for sharing it with us all

Looking good....and so is the van 😜. I think you did the right thing by taking time out rather than carried on. It gives you time to reset and time to think about where you're going as doing stuff when your head isn't in the right place is where mistakes happen. At least it was only bits of metal and plastic which is easier to replace than skin and bones. Sofa is looking ace..Well done to mom. And last of all, as requested, I'd like to show my appreciation to tge lighting 😅😅. Roll on next episode. Stay safe

Thank you! Yes absolutely, that’s why something went wrong every day that week I think, because I hadn’t taken a day off in a few months & I was completely unbalanced. A full on teenage-like sleep sorted me out & I was back at it the next day. Haha nice one! Thank you for your comments throughout. The support is highly appreciated x

Owch on the damaged light,Becca but not too painful financially to repair thankfully. I smiled when I saw the bag over the paint tray thing. Ive been doing it for years.i.even got caalled a tightwad by a family member who said i eas a saddo as a new tray was only a couple of quid lol. The van is looking gorgous. Your and your dads hard work and your Mum's needlework skills have made the van turn into a true labour of family love. Cant wait to eatch your adventures in it- though stay clear of sneaky garage doors on your bimbles. Much respect to you,your Dad and your Mum. A truly talented family unit. -Kenny

Hi Becca Debbie here, OMG that must of been awful, i would be so upset and annoyed with myself, but at least as Trev said, it is an easy fix and does not have to go to the bodyshop for weeks 🙂 The van is looking lovely you and your dad are doing a great job, love the colours, really makes it bright and happy feeling 🙂 The green, blue and gold are very "Royal" shall we call you Princess Becca 🙂 all the best to you and your lovely dad, hope to meet up one day on your travels, not long now 🙂 Trev Debbie and Tyler x x

@@myvanworld once you find a couple of places to empty your toilet and fill up, those nerves will go. I’d definitely recommend calling a couple of local campsites close to where your mainly going to be staying to ask if you can empty your waste without staying over night, takes the stress away 👍🏼

😂 true. It looks so much better than the left… I’m contemplating replacing the other side so they both look new. Ha. The van definitely needs some upgrades over the next few years. Bitta TLC.

When masking onto areas that have been recently painted use the low tack tape (generally yellow/green in colour) to avoid tear out of the paint when removing. Paint dries quite quickly but takes a few weeks to cure. The white tape is prone is pull new paint off when removing. 👍🏼

I also like the blue tape if I can't get frog tape. Anything but cheap white masking tape.

@@tonysutton6559yes I prefer blue over the white any day. It can be left on longer without glue residue being left behind. Probably wouldn’t use it on fresh paint still. Check out the Tesa masking tape, that’s really good stuff. They do a pink one which is ideal for the purpose she is using the white for.

I use kitchen foil to line the paint tray and use the plastic bag to store the tray, brush and roller overnight so it it doesn't dry out and is ready for the next coat the following day. Don't throw the old light cluster away, it will be fine as a spare with a bit of clear tape over the hole (tbh, I wouldn't have changed it until the conversion is finished just in case something else catches it). My wife uses our towbar as a reversing sensor. When it goes bang she knows that she is close enough to the fence or wall.

Another tip for anyone using ghost paint in future (too late for you sadly). But undercoat in black, not white... it will really help the gold paint to pop!

Fixed the van but ya Dad's garage door wont shut now cos the hinges are sprained :) Lucky escape - it could have been a lot worse with panel damage.

if you use the same bag for the paint the next day, you may get bits of old paint come off the bag and stick to the roller then the wall alway s use a fresh bag

Ahhh looking so good. The chill music and just watching you doing lots of painting is what my brain needed right now and it was very calming 😊 Looks so good as well, and side note very cool they don’t make you buy the whole light unit! You can bet newer vans / cars would integrate all that in one to charge you triple the price!

@@myvanworld just rub down the ladder and mask around it and spray it a sparkly black colour!!! Job done. Just a tip get out and look next time 😂🤣😂🤣 you shouldn't let it ruin your day or week . Dad seemed to enjoy replacing it and explaining to you. By the way pat yourself on the back for getting the right part, most professionals have trouble doing that first time round. 👍🤣😂🤣👍

Wow, been a while and outstanding progress made! It looks very roomy and comfortable inside, great work on the decorrating and fit out. Agree the vent looks much cleaner for the fridge. The paint tray tip though, that is utterly genius!!! Good to see you're back at it after having a rubbish week, sometimes it just goes like that.

@@Gary002 Same here my friend! But I’m telling myself if I can enjoy the winter (which is the worst it’s going to get), imagine how good the summer will be. I think it’s worked out well that way, rather than the summer being lush & having a big crash back to reality when winder hits. Everything takes twice as long as you expect in the build doesn’t it. We’ll get there!

The only problem with eggshell paint is if you need to touch up you have to do the whole section. I like the bag on roller tray tip

I would have to respectfully disagree with you there. I’ve never had issues touching in eggshell. it may flash if she touches in an area with a brush that’s previously been rollered but it would depend on the surface in relation to the light source. 👍🏼

@@Racelinekarting I was a construction project manager eggshell can never be touched up without it standing out. Therefore the whole wall or panel has to be redone. To be honest eggshell was only ever used at the adamant request of a client. Ask any professional decorator they will all tell you the same.

@@keithadams1538 well you never asked me. But I am a professional decorator, I own a decorating company with contracts for historic sites as well as domestic. If you know what you are doing touching in eggshell can be done without flashing 👍🏼👍🏼 tbh I don’t think flashing is her main concern. She’s had a go and happy with her results so it’s all good. If we are critiquing it from a professional point of view there is much to pull before flashing from a touch in.

@@Racelinekarting Really? I have worked with many decorating contractors and they all say the same. They will not touch eggshell. Vinyl Silk is the go to. If you are what you say you are then you are Mr magic man the decorator. Sounds like you are the boss without practical experience. We will have to agree to disagree. You take care
