That's awesome! Yeah, I haven't seen a 36" in a while, but I know where one is, right around the corner from me, brown and bright brass, with schoolhouse globe. Should the people decide to remodel, I want that one, and they also have a 52" brown, with antique grapeleaf plate. It's a big childhood fan. I'd especially love to have that one, it's setup exactly like two my Grandparents had. I'm about to do an oil cup swap on my 1984 23272, for a bright brass one. What oil are you running these days? Would be a great opportunity to see how the zoom spout is holding up.
I have 2 early 80s originals and for some reason neither one will start. One is dated 1980 and the other one is probably from 81-82 or somewhere around there. Both were bought from separate sellers and I am pretty sure that I am making a mistake wiring it. I know these fans rarely die due to how the fan is designed and I find it highly unlikely both are dead. Both fans were tested and wired exactly the same. This is how the wires out of the downrod were wired. The light wire is capped as I am not using one and the 2 fan hots and 2 neutrals are together. Ground fell off of both fans. In the switch housing there were 5 wires, all capped individually. one black coming out of the pullchain, 2 whites coming from the motor and 2 blacks. I believe that 1 set of white and black is for separate pullchain control and the other is to use the fan chain. The other black I believe is how the fan chain controls the light if it is desired to be operated that way. Any advice on why they are not working would be greatly appreciated! UPDATE: I wired a R&M light kit to operate separately from the fan chain and ONLY the light worked. Still no fan.
Should be ceiling black to blue or red, For high or low, two whites together. Other black to light kit if desired. Unless these are later and have a capacitor. Message me on Facebook Brian's little halfway house for derelict fans.
@@mrfanman2u I do but they are connected already. I did get the fan to work. I have the light and fan hot wires from ceiling tied with the pullchain black and the 2 neutrals together. When I add the light kit on I will be using its included pullchain. How would you advise me to wire it then?
