I walked BAREFOOT for the DAY | Do We Need Shoes?
I have yet to find a pair of barefoot sandals that don't hurt my feet, so I thought why not try out the barefoot sandals we were born with?
As always I was very surprised with how the day went.

Hey Pete! I just bought a pair of SPLAY barefoot shoes. You should check them out if you haven’t seen them before. They are the closest thing to a barefoot VANS at the moment I reckon. Pretty reasonable price, just the shipping to the UK to pay for as the extra. Peace.

You can walk without shoes for 2-4 weeks and you'd eventually have tough enough calluses that even stepping on glass doesn't do anywhere near as much damage to delicate skin. Gotta build up those calluses hehe
@PeteOnPurpose

2-4 weeks doesn't sound like that long! I could be walking on glass in no time 😅
@ddpwe5269
@ddpwe5269 Год назад

@PeteOnPurpose

@@ddpwe5269 The main negative for me was how dirty my feet got but apart from that i would say it was the same as having barefoot shoes on well except for getting used to all the pebbles. 😅

Friendly hints... For the gravel... just don't walk on it! All that grass and dirt along the sides of the path would be much better. In most of the world, nobody cares. Only in the US pretty much, does anyone care much at all, and even here it's not that bad. As for hygiene... it's actually much more hygienic than you think. The sun is an _incredible_ disinfectant. Yeah, your feet get physically _dirty_ sometimes, especially in urban areas, but your feet are generally not exposed to as much bacteria and other microbes in an entire day going barefoot outside, as your hands are touching one single doorknob. Even in the bathroom, unless you have open wounds on your feet, you have nothing to worry about. Your skin is _very_ good at keeping germs out. It's kind of its entire thing! Plus public bathrooms are _usually_ cleaned quite often. I've been in many hundreds, and I'm more often struck by how pristine the floors are than any grossness. Next time, skip the "emergency sandals". Psychologically it's much more powerful to just truly be barefoot. It's both more profound, and more relaxing, as you don't need to think about "should I use them?" all the time, and you're not always having to will yourself to keep going. Plus just not having to carry them, of course. xD For the legality... there are _very_ few places on planet Earth where footwear is legally required. Almost all of them are in the US, and even here there are only two municipalities, one library system, and one airport where being barefoot is actually, legitimately illegal. Both municipalities are very small towns, and in both cases, "no bare feet" was tagged on by bizarre reflex onto "no saggy pants" in one town, and "no topless females" in another. People can be weird. There are also no health codes or other regulations requiring shoes on customers in any business, including food service.

@@PeteOnPurpose here's an idea which I'd buy, ridiculous as it is... shoe uppers that fold completely flat, go in a bag, then velcro on over your Xero sandals so that you can pop them on for a restaurant or at work. But rest of the time enjoy the freedom of open feet. 🤪

Do you really think the biosphere in your shoes and socks is "cleaner" than having contact with the ground?
@PeteOnPurpose
@PeteOnPurpose Год назад
I don't know?!
@michaelsteinrotter2016
@michaelsteinrotter2016 Год назад
Well, cinsider that urine in public toilets is only blood serum and does not permeate your skin. Feces are natural products and not toxic if not swallowed. Remember babies lie in their own...... What's happening biochemically in your shoes is by far more complex: chemicals from leather and plastics together with moist, hot sweat decomposing dead skin by fungus and bacteria, giving rise to typical smell....and all being rubbed deeply into your skin....so I would rather step into poop than fermenting my feet in shoes....imho.
