bit.ly/1R2Ylqn So your hair dream is to have a head full of tiny styleable versatile locks. Cool. Congratulations on your decision to take the lock plunge.
Only one thing however...You don't have the money...or...don't want to spend that kind of money on the install and/or maintenance.
Find out how....bit.ly/1R2Ylqn
Start or continue your sisterlock journey with PR (that's me of course)

I am installing my sister's microlocs for 1/3 the cost of sisterlocs. They told her that the cost is $1,000 to install sisterlocs due to the length of her hair. I know how to install & maintain locs using the palmrolling, braiding, twists, interlocking (with & without a tool) and 2-strand twists methods. I had locs for 3 years. A few methods I initially learned from watching RU-vid videos. I have been doing locs (install & maintenance) for people since 2001. I started back when I was in college & had my locs. I am NOT a licensed/certified professional natural hair stylist but I am a woman who knows how to do locs & many other beautiful, healthy natural hair styles.

+P. R. Charles thanks for all your videos,iv have locked my hair myself since february of 2014,i still do research as much as i can to be sure im not doing something to cause damage years from now,plus people have been asking me to lock their hair so im going to get as many books and DVDs as i can on the different locking system because i still dont think i know enough to give proper honor to micro locking,but i love natural hair care!

I also found that a yarn needle that I cut and then rounded the ends with an Emory board worked the best for me because I could manipulate it better.

I love my sisterlocks but I cant afford it anymore. Im going to school full time and cut my hours down. I have been retightening myself and having so much difficulty. Its just so much my technician made them extremely tiny (the smallest size she could). I have a 3 pattern even though my hair is mature but there is a lot of slippage.
@PRCharles
@PRCharles 9 лет назад
KiyahB Hey Kiyah. You'd need to learn how to maintain it and what to do to circumvent the slippage. You might have to combine them if it's too much locks to maintain. Yet again maintaining your locks is a journey and learning curve in and of itself. Your best bet is to talk to your consultant and let her know what's at hand and ask what is the next best step for you to maintain it yourself with less difficulty. I personally have clients that maintain their hair in-between visits with me and when they run into problems I offer suggestions. The point is to get the best info that applies or works for you whether free or paid. But you determine what information you are willing to choose to get your hands on to achieve your dream hair lifestyle. Understand that there still will be trouble shooting for your maintenance needs but having the thorough info that can lead you in the right direction is key. I pray for your success. Thanks for sharing :-)

queenbeethatme100 I have a 3 pattern but I don't think she used it all over my hair as my hair isn't a uniform texture. I always thought you should only use reverse 4 pattern when starting the locks.

queenbeethatme100 I agree it is more that just hair. I tell people all the time that something happened to me on an emotional, physical, mental, spiritual level when I locked my hair. Self acceptance is deeper that just hair. Thanks again for sharing this. This is more confirmation that life and how we groom ourselves is indeed deep and a reflection of our state of mind and being. Sure +Simply Gifty. Go to www.nappynhappy.com. I'd buy the the kit (the book and DVD and tool etc) Watch and read it a couple of times and take my time and install. Even if it took me a month to do it. Had a friend that took this route say 5 years ago. She became impatient and installed them too big and regrets it now. Take your time. You are worth the wait. Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing =)

@ilv2laugh
@ilv2laugh 9 лет назад
I've watched almost all your videos but this disappointed me. You can find everything you need to start dread locks on your own here on RU-vid. Before RU-vid people were locking, before sisterlocks were trademarked people were locking and interlocking for that matter. Doesn't matter the reason a person doesn't want to pay, dread locking was free long before all of this. I have sisterlocks and also paid to attend the retightening class so I could DYI. I agree we should be informed before locking but that information can be found free of charge here and on the net
@PRCharles
@PRCharles 9 лет назад
ilv2laugh maybe my video wasn't too clear. I have no issue with free. If I could find a training or couple of videos out there including all the information for free cool. The issue is that people don't know what to ask besides what locking pattern? They aren't aware of what they don't know. I took the retightening SL training and DIY'd my hair, people came up to me and asked me to do theirs. I said no. I only knew how to maintain my hair. They would insist for me to do it because I knew a pattern or how to interlock. They just didn't knowing there was more to just interlocking the hair. I didn't do it because I knew it was deeper than that to achieve the look they were aiming to for. When I took the trainee/consultant training. It proved big time there was a difference. Even in how I maintained my hair. As I have stated in this video no reason someone can't have a beautiful head of hair. Do their due diligence. Free may mean searching and searching all over the place. And not knowing what to look for or ask besides...can you show me how you lock your hair? Thought It was easier to buy a book, dvd, or training on it (meaning self paced). Hopefully lot of the issues that can come with installation will be addressed. There were so many nuances to how one wants their locks to look and behave. I figured it was easier to find a book or system, it could be a video on youtube that told you more about installing locks than hey use this pattern to lock hair. I'm agreeing with you. It would be nice to be more informed. This is 2015 there is so much out there compared to when I had my install in 2002. So there may be a lot out there that is free to learn that gives the whole picture for the task ahead. I want people to know they have to pay something. Either cash or sweat equity. But Due diligence is required anyway. Seek to understand what's involved and required. This video may have disappointed you...it's okay. I appreciate you were authentically honest with me and gave valuable feed back. You engaged in a conversation with me, I thank you for that, and you shared your valuable experience. Thanks again for sharing my friend. Namaste.

+Laffenwright Lol you said cult. Yeah it can appear so to some at times. Here is my take. People asked me if my hair would still be considered sisterlocks because I diy'd myself all these years even though I took the retightening class. . Some people say if the tool isn't used then it isn't sisterlocks. Other's say it's the grid. Locks look like locs. Either micro or small, small medium, medium medium large etc. especially when done to have a full head of small style-able locks the flow and silhouette is the same. Very slight slight nuances some locks look flatter than others. Some are more twisty but at the end of the day similar. What difference does it make?...The difference is to the wearer. Wether they want to pay for it through the nose or not. The difference is to the Diyer whether they want to do it themselves or not. Some people pay plenty other put in a lot of sweat equity. TO each her own. That is the best path chosen at the time for the person. The difference is also doing the research whether financially, skill wise, technique, etc. At the end of the day. Anyone can have a head of beautiful locks whether sisterlocked, home cultured, salon cultured, interlocked, latched using different types of locking patterns or not. "Aye allyuh do your research (translation - all of you out there do your research). This hair lifestyle is an investment of time, energy, money (no matter how little or how grand. +Laffenwright thank you so much for sharing. I appreciate your perspective and experience it opens up the channel for honest discussion and the sharing of different points of view.

+P. R. Charles I believe in some people there may be identity and racial issues. people who do not think twice about buying sliders at Kona grill or Cheesecake factory and would never sound off (white castle and Krystal are cheaper) or who would not dream of blonding there hair with clorox (a lot cheaper) or wearing wrangler jeans from Walmart would BEGRUDGE a few other black women trying to make a living and promoting a brand. I MO some people are so conditioned that they would nickel and dime other blacks but run over themselves buying brand names in food and clothing and everything else by everyone else I agree to each his own and a simple tool use does not make or break a brand. I am an old school AKA.. (1979) SKEE WEE. BABY! I would be proud to be in a sisterlocks "cult" but honestly feel it is more like a sisterhood or sorority than a cult. We worship no method or person but like my college sorority we just have very high standards that not everyone can or even want to meet. "do you" but as black people we need to. STOP knocking anyone else's hustle just because we are on or must be on a tight budget.

@@queenbeethatsme1005 At the end of the day queenbee all locks look the same. The grid isn't as important as you try to make it out to me. Its simply to part. More than likely its also to accomdate based on the density on the part of the head. The price doesn't bother me much. It was always the attitude. Sisterlocks arent all that. If it were peoppe woukd see a difference but they don't lol and also dryness is based according to the person. Ive seen a lady with hair dry as the desert and she had sisterlocks. There are plenty of people with micros who don't use much of anything on their hair. The information is cute. The interlocking method is already out for people to read on. There are books on it and videos. The grids whole point is to accomdate based on the density as well as have neat parting systems. Hair type truly doesnt matter because caucasions barely do this thing. Most of the people looking for diys. Have 4c hair. The attitude is very nasty. I like pr charles because she doesnt act like shes better than anyone simply because she has sisterlocks. And the reason its seen as a cult is because of the fear of any information going out to the public. Its not that valuable for me to sign a contract on lol. Why? If you do proper research. You can do a great job. Idk. Maybe you should humble yourself because at the end of the day people want to look presentablr and if u have to look at someones scalp to see they have sisterlocks. Your information is useless.

Just a question. If someone had tailbone length loose curly hair how much is installation? I'm going to guess over a grand right? My hair is very long and I had free form locks 15 years ago and it wasn't really what I wanted and at my age I want something that will work with my texture better.
@PRCharles
@PRCharles 8 лет назад
Yes +Nina Joy it would be well over a grand. More like over 2 or 3. Now many consultants charge by the inch so.... that should tell you. Girrrl better to cut it and then install. If you want it to be more affordable. Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing =)

Hallelujah +queenbeethatme 100! Nothing but the truth. Too much too much. The longest I have done is 15 inches of hair and it was pretty densely pack. It is work!! it lengthens the process so much. Funny thing about this is that you can't goof off doing the work. The hours pass and the results are in. To install locs you work constantly, In order to finish in a timely manner. You are highlighting the truth. Most people would not pay. That's for sharing my friend. ❤️❤️

You could always do it yourself and do braidlocs. Put a bunch of micro braids in your hair, let it loc, and maintain it by interlocking. That is what I did and my hair is long too but not as long as yours. Braidlocs have a similar look to sisterlocs, depending on how small you braid your hair; the only difference with sisterlocs is the grid pattern.

I want some locks... but I always want to keep my ends curly. so I was wondering if I get it done, it finally locks, could I comb out the ends a little to give the ends to curl? when it gets longer, I wanted a cut to frame my face but I would still want to comb my ends out and put product on it to keep it curly. is that possible?
@PRCharles
@PRCharles 8 лет назад
+Temickab b if you have naturally curly hair that would be a natural occurrence for you. It just depends on the deepness and tightness of the curl. Yes it is possible if your hair is fully locked. Now mind you I have seen people who have a looser curl cut their locks and it naturally unravels. If you hair is cut short into a short haircut (I've seen sections of it unravel completely). If you are willing to put in the time and effort anything can be figured out to your liking. Thanks for sharing :-)
