Kyrie couldn’t play because of a city policy. I’m sure many players just got fake vax cards but that’s not Kyrie’s style same with Novak and I’m sure many tennis players had fake cards as well. These two guys stand on principle and the right to make choices of how to govern their own bodies. The other thing was after the fact and helped to show him how the nets really feel about him.
