What's good Vlad I think that both options had promise. The first was your "interest" in menswear, the second was you being informed of menswear with no stylistic knowledge of self. I'm interested in exploring your perspectives on the brown shoes conundrum because I've heard many perspectives on the subject. Outside of the structural issues button stance and the tightness in the front of the suit, I didn't see much wrong with either of the looks. The reason being the color button thread was a little ostentatious no doubt but was what most dudes who are doing custom want lol. With the regards to your shoulder do you think it was an ill fitting shoulder or arm hole and sleeve measurement or that the shoulder was overly padded? Also with the tightness in the front of the suit could the pulling because you took in entire suit instead of shaping the back and easing the two front pieces of the pattern? I'm also curious to hear your thoughts on weight and weave of fabrication and it's relation on how "tight" a suit can be cut. Definitely look forward to your thoughts and more videos.

What's up, bro? Are you referring to the Brown shoes at a wedding? As you said, the main issues with the older suits were mostly them being too small and things that can't be changed like button stances and lapel widths. I just didn't understand fit and thought that the right fit meant a slim fit. Back when I worked in Menswear as a custom clothier, my clients cared more about details like contrast buttonholes and lining colors than they did about the actual fit, sadly I was in that category as well. I think the issue with the shoulders was mostly the jackets being the wrong size than the padding although it could be a little of both. My tailor at the time wasn't great, so I don't remember exactly if the jackets were taken in from the sides or the center seam. But I always advise guys to if anything buy a bigger size and have it taken it as opposed to the alternative. As far as fabrics, some are more forgiven than others but I've never had to take a different size due to the fabric. Some might require slight alterations from a tailor but not enough to go up or down in size, at least not in my experience.

I remember purchasing my 1st suit back in '05 for a holiday party. I had no idea what I needed and was totally trusting the sales clerk. The sales clerk sold me a black pinstriped suit after I informed him that I owned no other suits🤦‍♂️. When I showed up to the holiday party thinking I was looking fly, I was asked whose funeral did I just attend. I got humble real quick. I did end up wearing it to a funeral a few yrs later before I retired it. The only good thing was that the in store tailor was very good.

Hey man as we grow we mature and so do our wallets (hopefully) you can probably afford better looks AND with mtm suits all over the place you/we aren’t restricted to off the peg/rack. You can now find decent suiting for 500-1000. Some of us started with the Jos a bank buy 1 get 3 free being economical! I feel like some traditional pieces will always be a good look. Finding value and realize we are buying long term makes a difference too

What's up, Marshall? While I agree with you, some of those suits cost the same if not more than some of my OTR S&M suits that I wear now. Coincidentally, I have the same tie you are wearing in this video, and it is one of my favourites! You are right, some of the people who make the most unsightly sartorial mistakes, are the fashion enthusiasts. Frankly, I think their preoccupation with “fashion” is the very reason that they make these mistakes! They are so obsessed with being on trend, that they fixate on projecting a particular “look”, without any understanding of the basics, and any appreciation of how integral fit is. Thank you for demonstrating the importance of proportions! Many people fail to appreciate how a properly fitting suit, can accentuate the best aspects of a man. What I have come to understand, from the timeless style of those I admire, is that when you understand how to put together an outfit, and how clothes ought to fit, you will always present well. Contrarily, you may be “in fashion”, and have a poor sense of style! Great video.

Vlad,I stopped buying GQ and other menswear periodicals in the early to mid nineties when they all starting printing nothing but advertisements...I mean every other page! Then that "skinny Mad Men 60's s*** that only took of here in the states and the U.K. and for someone like me I grew up watching and getting my inspiration from my dad and 30's and early 40's. The skinny stuff never took off in Italy. It was actually the opposite...lapels got wider and they never stopped wearing pleated trousers. They just wear their trousers too short and went from 3.5" ties to 3". I never gave one thought about transitioning into the Mad men look! 😷✌🏾❤️🙏🏾

This was a great vid as I have not found anything like this subject in other sartorial channels yet. I had to subscribe after watching this one. Thanks for a great vid, Vladimir!

Lots of respect Vlad. When I see how you evolved, I hold your opinion to a much higher level. I'm in transition right now and I watched your video on light brown shoes. I like wearing them casual with blue jeans but I understand now. Blending is more important than being top heavy. My inexperienced eye tells me the worst look in your old pics was the tight suit with the "High Water" pants and the red socks. Thanks for this video.

I love the videos where you keep it authentic. I had a couple baggy suits in the 90's too, that was kind of the fashion of the times. Those one or two sizes two small suits were the real crime, although that grey suit might have fit the best of the bunch if you hadn't shortened it. At least you were doing your own thing, and no doubt had some fun doing it.

Thanks for sharing Vlad! It is good to know for people starting out that it takes people time to get it together. I don't think it is black or white that you dress good or you don't. It is a scale and putting a suit on at all will move you up that scale even if it is not a great fit. To use an American expression, I think you have gone from the Minor Leagues to the Majors. With anything, I think it is about being better and not perfect. Make each outfit better, learn as you go. Great video...

You lost some weight since the beginning, Brother Vladimir so now whatever you wear is going to look better. I say that because now I am wearing a beautiful tailor made jacket from England that I found in a second hand store. Anyway, rule one is get in shape.

I am watching this video for the third time because I was wondering what you had to say about having your shirt fit you, in the same way that you emphasize the importance of the fit of the suit. Up until about 10 years ago, the major Department stores in Melbourne, Australia, carried a range of mens clothing that was the equivalent to a New York store. But now with in store sales being lost to the online world and with most men abandoning the tie, it is almost impossible to get the correct sleeve length. Collar sizing is a worse problem, because the stores are importing shirts from unfamiliar brands, with the main problem being inconsistent fit with shirts sold by neck size and a radical difference between the brands of shirts sold as S, M, L etc. Which is why I don't buy my shirts, sight unseen, online. Why I replayed the very interesting video was to look for any helpful advice on making shirts fit. I am the same height as you and now all of the standard brand shirts, particularly those with french cuffs are made for men much taller than me. In frustration I went and asked a local Tailor who specialises in alterations to up market women's clothing, if they could remake the sleeve length on the premium quality shirts, where the cuffs just dangled from the suit sleeve. While going to a ladies Tailor may be the only way, I was hoping to get some guidance on the fit of the shirt from some of your early videos, but I can't find any. Perhaps I wasn't looking at all of the past material. Phil.

You wasn't a bad dresser that was your Mental State at the time. You are more mature now and its reflected in how you dress. You were sharp for that era.
