Hey Guys!
A little late to the party but here's the second part of my Swiss Open 2022 run…
I face Srikanth Kidambi from India in the Quarterfinal - and it's a hectic match! but a fun one nevertheless.

Your best vlog so far! Commenting only to let u know that your honesty and bravery to share this video are highly appreciated. It's ok to make a mistake as long as we acknowledge that it was a mistake. We're all human after all. I sincerely hope that you're feeling better now, and sharing this video might be therapeutic and can help u to make peace with your emotion. Love the new format, btw. We don't only want to know what's going on in your life, but also what's going on in your head. With voice-over format like this, you may be able to share more about your thought process or simply how you feel about anything happening in your daily life. Love your work, AA!

Anders, I think it’s remarkable. You are both brave and honest to show yourself to the world when you are emotionally vulnerable. One can understand your actions: flinging the shuttle, the kit; wanting to tear the clothes …all that can be therapeutic. When I used to play I’d never throw things but I’d definitely scream. I wish that there were more elite sportspersons who are as emotionally honest as you are. Most of them say the same bland jargon and protect themselves by keeping their eyes emotionless. You don’t do that. There’s much to admire about you. Hope life’s experiences don’t make you decide otherwise. All the best.

I was there this day. Actually I liked this attitude, even if it seems disrespectful we all know it's not really (I heard someone at my side saying "yes, but the opponent knows him, he's used to that so whatever", we know that in a match like this, you play the opponent but sometimes you play yourself too). It's like an european style way of being, you're an artist ! And this behaviour shows us the stakes and the competitive aspect of this sport, which we don't see a lot in badminton. So, OK don't throw your bag in front of everyone haha but keep this winning willing attitude up.

In my opinion, your best vlog so far (including the ones where u interview other players). More depth of who you are here, more real. I can relate to that feeling when you play pretty good rallies but end up losing close games that you feel you could have won. I'm pretty good to control my emotions and i think at your level and age you cannot act like you did on court or in front of the audience. I think it looks very disrespectful. I am happy you realise this yourself and during your match i was pretty frustrated myself because i wanted you to win so bad. You're still a great player and inspiration but please don't act like this in future because it doesn't look good. You're a really good player and person Anders, please try to drop more content and longer videos behind the scene during tournaments it is really fun to watch.

Sometimes it’s okay to acknowledge our emotions or feelings as long as we dont cause harms to others. We understand and respect that. The fact that players physically being on the court and people have no idea how things can mentally or emotionally affect them. It’s so unfair to judge unreasonably. So happy you came with this great clarification. It reflects your professionalism. Well done and all the best 🫡😄!

Bro, its OK. We aren't all the same and we should have the right to explore our emotions in a healthy way. I'm glad i'm not the only guy who gets like that on court sometimes! And i get sick of people judging me for it, as if that's the only thing that matters. When you care passionately and just want to get that good level that you know is inside you somewhere but its not quite happening that day its beyond frustrating. I don't think your game is stuck in a rut btw - i think you are playing like a solid top 5 player, the results will come! Be careful with your temper - indulging in it once only makes it easier for you to lose it the next time. And people (and fans in your case) will have an excuse to make a 'pantomime villain' out of you, and you don't want that hassle. There's something you said that i related to about almost enjoying feeling like you're losing it. That's the feeling to be careful of. Its a self-pity trip waiting to happen, and it will sabotage your self-belief and self-respect if you indulge in it. I know how it feels. Badminton court can be a lonely place. I know there's a whole level of complexity to it - starting with the feeling that not getting pissed off with yourself is like accepting low standards. Its the flip side of passion, and i see a lot of players repress their emotions and that's unhealthy too. You need to tap into that instead and communicate it. Get the crowd involved - i know how repressed even the All-England crowd can be over the opening rounds, but they want to get involved and have a guy to root for. Because its half full and the crowd are self conscious. The AE, Swiss open, denmark, you can get home court advantage! You've got an aggressive game style, crazy power, you dive for complete lost causes like the second Vittinghus, you wear your heart on your sleeve, what's not to love? My kind of player. You seem like a good guy with time for the fans even when you're having an emo day. I reckon when you learn to channel that frustration, that drive to succeed you'll be able to get an extra gear in close matches - looks like you came up with some crazy defence against Srikanth out of sheer will to win, but also you got tight and your power got less and you made errors you'd never make normally. Even coming to a better understanding of what you do well and poorly in a frustrated state will help you deal with that situation next time. Next time. The two best words in the english language.
