I had just poured a cold brew to settle back to enjoy your video when your "Oh my goodness" snapped me to attention. The recent arrival of the new fungus on that log plus your comfort in the rain throughout the video were good reminders to get outdoors to see what's happening in all conditions. Great video. Thanks Kim

Thank you for a lovely video Kim. Frogs and toads are great favourites of mine, ever since I met my first toadlet when we were both little. Your little frog was in fact a baby toad (toadlet) and you captured it beautifully in both stills and video. I also happen to have a real fondness for snails, so your comments were lovely to hear. I think your photograph of the cute slug from previously was wonderful. You certainly made it look very endearing. You must be the only photographer who can make a slug look cuddly!

I love that you talk about the spirituality and maybe even animism that I myself feel when I'm in nature, especially with my camera. Because the connection you get is important and touching. I myself have started a RU-vid channel (in danish), with both photography, outdoor life and adventure, and I will eventually talk about this almost spiritual feeling you get in nature. And I therefore always thank nature for being there and having the experiences. Thank you for your wonderful videos, I have been following for a long time from my private user and I love when there is a new video 🙏

I agree that images of certain things - say, some fungi in poor lighting - aren't necessarily print worthy, but, they do get me to appreciate them at a different level. As a biologist, I want to see all living things as closely as possible, examine their forms and take advantage of their natural habitat to better discern their niche. That's part of the real joy of photography for me.

If you don’t have, or want, to carry a small flash for your macro-shots, consider bringing along a small fold-up reflector. Natural light is nice, but a little reflected light can give you a stop or two, and give you more settings options. Loved the pictures, thanks for sharing.

Since you seem to be getting more interested in intimate landscapes with photographing fungi etc I highly recommend that you try out using a monopod instead of the tripod. The other thing that you might find of great advantage because of increased depth of field without having to photo stack--try some micro 4/3 gear, something like an OM5. OM systems make three great macro lenses but really I think you'll find if you get the 12 to 100 which is 24 mm to 200 mm in full frame equivalency is probably all you're going to need for doing amazing close-ups.

Carry a flashlight of some sort to capture the shadowed cuteness of slugs. And a remote trigger. Or maybe get one of those three-headed lights on twisty thingies which act as positionable lights. For closeups and macro. Love your pleasant videos.

Your comment about not wanting to print some of these photos or put them on a wall triggered my memory and now I need to research how to go about this. There is a way to have your photos from a photo library on the tv screen. I don’t know if it is only an Apple thing, but it can be done. I was thinking what a cool way to view those interesting photos as a slide show. My phone has hundreds of nature photos and I love when they pop up as I enjoy them all over again. Thank you again for sharing your connections with the tiny parts of nature.

Thanks for the suggestion. We all have our own processes. I love my telephoto lenses at the moment. @@kimgrantphotography Real good zoom lenses is big, heavy and very expensive, you can get excellent compact prime Lenses which outperforms zooms. My old mentor always said, with two prime Lenses a wide angle and a short tele Lens you can cover just about 90-95% of mist kind of photography, wat I meant is that you can push yourself much more with prime Lenses.
