Hi Gary 😊 Now while I’m watching this I’m getting very angry 😤 The lamb was very naughty! because as an ex butcher the chef to me has given you the top most fatty part of the shoulder! Disgusting really He really should have known this? to pay extra or a Yorkshire is very cheeky indeed 😮 I know you don’t like complain Gary but come on buddy. Shocking price! 5/10 Cheers 🍻

@GaryEats Seriously, I know I hve said it before, but I don't think you realise how good your channel is. Professionally filmed & you tell it how it is. No bullshit. Don't be offended by this next comment, but you remind me of Rick Stein. Take that as a compliment. You really need a mainstream TV show. Also, I would like to see you make it down here to Oz one day. From the West Coast to the East Coast there is so many foodie adventures for you to explore. Your mind would be blown I think. @@davidwhite4874 The tradition of eating Yorkshire puds first, before the main meal, started in about 900AD. A family was sitting down to eat when 3 huge Vikings kicked the door in. The mother gestured to them to sit down and carved some meat, added vegetables and 2 Yorkshire puddings and gravy which she placed before them. They put down their weapons and ate ravenously. They seemed very taken by the Yorkshire puddings and requested more. By the time they were full, there were no Yorkshires left for the rest of the family. They then left, indicating their thanks, and went off to lay waste to Lancashire. So we now we Yorkshire folk eat the Yorkshire puddings first as a precaution, just in case any Vikings ever come back. 😁

Gary it’s an overpriced venue. Garlic bread £5. Cheese board £15. Minuscule portion of planchette on starter. Disgusting piece of fatty lamb and 3 roasties. As for the clotted cream wasn’t even a child’s portion. I know that the upkeep of a large pub restaurant is high but at such prices they are asking you to pay towards it. Great review as always.

Anywhere that does a Sunday roast where you have to ask / pay for a Yorkshire pudding as an extra shouldn’t be doing them in the first place. And I couldn’t eat it as dry as that, I’d need to ask for a jug of gravy. A case of a pub trying to be pretentious and charging a fortune. Would rather go to Toby Carvery for a proper dinner.

Lamb shoulder is always fatty. What that tells me is that it was not cooked long enough on a low heat to render out the fat. It was probably cooked for a shorter period on a higher heat making the meat fibres tough (which is why it is not pulling apart) and not allowing that fat to cook out. Shoulder should always be slow and low. Could have been just an off day 🤷🏻‍♀️

Shoulder of lamb is no longer a cheap cut (it has become fashionable) and the average full shoulder will cost anything up to £35 in a local butcher. (enough for 4). Leave the knuckle attached. If you cook it properly, the fat almost completely renders and the meat literally falls off the bone. You should be able to extract any bone cleanly and completely. It does take at least 5 -6 hours minimum of very slow cooking at 150 C under a sealed foil cover with rosemary, garlic, and salt and the meat juices at the bottom of the pan are absolutely heavenly and form the basis of the gravy. If the lamb hasn't been cooked for long enough the fat will remain attached to the meat which is what I believe has happened here... A fatal flaw that they should know better when cooking lamb shoulder. You should be commenting to the chef accordingly and asking for another cut ( cooked correctly). Its undercooked.

Major Mess Up here at the White Hart pub. Garry liked the starter, I was trying to figure out why the cook threw so much of the garden on the plate hiding the Scallops, surely they should be shining off the plate? Lamb looked horrific. Yorkshire pudding looked like something you'd find in the boot of a 50 year Old Ford, and you had to have that added as it didn't come standard, Joke shop. The icing on this atrocious cake was the open jar of Mint Sauce.
