With how many zombies were waiting at the stairs, I was lowkey expecting them to just clip through from sheer numbers. That was a pretty terrifying sight.
I played this challenge several times approximately 5 years ago, and I never found a sledgehammer even with the lucky trait. So I suppose the item was removed from the map on purpose. But dude, that idea of dismantling the floor is a real stroke of genius.
I've found that whenever i'm actually looking for one i'll never find it but when i'm taking a little walk to loot some houses BOOM!!! sitting on the road next to a pickaxe and some construction cones.
The helicopter event actually makes sense in this scenario, they are drawn in by the masses of undead and investigate, there's also already a shit ton of zombies so it's not like they're making the situation any worse, they're just not helping it either. Edit: typo
From the RP perspective, yes, it makes sense as the heli would investigate what happens with that shit ton of zeds, but from a game perspective it makes no sense at all, because the zombies already have a perma track on you
@@ravell2854 ye, but the normal helicopter event tends to be that you're chilling with 0 zombies in your vicinity and then the helicopter comes around and starts stalking you, and then suddenly there's a million zombies :D so game wise, when the purpose is to fuck you over, it works perfectly! But RP wise it just feels like the guy in the helicopter wants you dead and I would like to know what I did to that guy to make them that angry lmao.
"what the hell..." "IM FUCKIN INVINCIBLE!" *laughing ass off with molotov cocktail and watching it all BURN* "jim, we should just fuck off." "yea, report that there's a singular dude holdin off the hordes."
That rush was pretty wild, didn't expect them to beeline you like that and thought you had more time until they showed up on the roof moments after you destroyed that walkway :D
@@nahson7192 They also are omniscient (always knows where the player is and how to pathfind to them) in the Last Stand challenges, but I'm pretty sure that it's obvious.
This challenge looks pretty fun but that one IRL hour must be stressful as hell. The game is already stressful enough for me as is, but I have yet to truly embrace that my ass is going to get eaten by zombies sooner or later. Basically, I need to letgo of my "gearfear"
Literally me. I got the game a week ago and as I make new characters, I slowly progress more and more. But my “GearFear” is progressively worse and worse.
@@tankredcaza Yeah, I was trying to find the right word and gearfear is the only term I'm familiar with. I'm just afraid of having to restart from the beginning, which I inevitably do anyways after I lose interest for a month before I binge for a week on a new save lol.
i had done this challenge my self, i had bridge to so many buildings, some how though a fire started and burned down most of the buildings, I survived but after that there was like... no zombies, so the challenge was kind of done for me, I ended up accidently climbing through a burnt wall on the top floor of the tall building and i fell to my death.
I used to think that an outbreak on such scale is not possible, like, police/military/government forces would probably contain it realy quickly unless the virus/fungus/chemical agent causing zombification is airborne and thousands of people would become zombies in very short time. Now after the COVID pandemic... I'm not so sure anymore.
The panic toward the end was hilarious.. you could have dumped your entire inventory into one of the crates, hopped over, then finished the barricade XD
Somebody found you can build Compost Bins as a "perfect barricade." And unlike the "crate + fence" combo, crawlers can't touch it. Though this is an exploit, for sure.
I think this is what lvl 7+ metalworking should be like, defenses that just don't break to zombies, or at least not for a loong time. There is no real point going for extra HP when any defenses you build get chewed through in matter of seconds by a large enough hordes.
@@Laireso I think the general idea is that having more HP gives you more time to deal with it. Like if a stray zomb or two are gnawing on your door, you can go kill them without having to replace the door. When it comes to big hordes, any defense is ultimately going to fail unless you use exploits like destroying the stairs or building cheat walls or using tv barriers and stuff like that. But I do agree... Metalworking, as it exists right now, just isn't worth the effort. Literally the only purpose it serves is getting metal scrap and stuff to repair generators. I do wish we could make zombie-proof defenses without cheating by using metalworking because its such a difficult skill to gain points in and find supplies for.
@@TheDrexxus I would love to see the ability to create metal tools and weapons at mid-high levels of Metalworking. Like, making your own Machetes from the metal lying around. Then again, a lot of building skills aren't useful at level 10, it's not like you unlock crazy static defenses like spiked walls that kill zombies trying to headbutt them and the like.
@@zamnplayerd8802 Yeah I honestly don't know why you can't craft your own swords or steel spears and such. Literally all you need is a piece of metal, cut into approximate shape, then use something to sharpen the blade to an edge like a sanding belt or grind stone or whatever you can get your hands on. Military special forces learn to craft hunting knives from scavenged materials. It isn't really any different to make a sword, aside from the amount of material and time required. You don't even need to do any metal work technically, if you happened to find a piece of metal with a close enough shape of an acceptable size and weight, all you gotta do is fasten a grip/hilt to one end and sharpen it. I mean ffs, primitive ass humans thousands of years ago could make swords, I think modern folks with modern tools could figure it out. And zombie traps shouldn't be hard to figure out either. Even something as simple as taking a metal bed frame and welding a couple dozen small metal spears to it, then rigging it to drop from above onto a group of them. Thats a lot of impaled skulls right there and would only need to be pulled back up by a rope or chain to reset it to just drop it again and again and again. Piercing human skulls isn't going to really damage it, maybe blunt the spears after a while. Biggest issue it would have is if the horde grabbed onto it while it was lowered and managed to pull it down off its rigging that was holding it aloft. But if you had chains and a powerful enough hoisting mechanism, those zombies aren't going to be strong enough to keep it down. If they're being pulled upward, they lose all their leverage because at that point the only force acting on it is gravity from the zeds' weight. I've got a chain hoist in my garage right now that can lift more than 2000 lbs, so thats 10 zombies that weight 200 lbs each and realistically these skinny, dessicated bastards aren't going to be that heavy. Any zombies that held on would just go for a little ride or fall off, either way it wouldn't matter, trap would reset, zeds would move in below it again, and you just drop again. And again. and again. Clear out the bulk of them and keep luring them into this chokepoint. You could also setup murder holes, another concept pioneered by ancient humans, where they just built walls with small holes in them so they could shove spears through there. You could stab zombs in the head again and again from absolute safety from behind a fortified wall. Zombies are just flesh and bone. Rotting flesh at that. Every single attack they make is going to be damaging their bodies. A swing hard enough to start to damage metal would fracture their bones. They'd wear their own arms to nubs before getting through a thick metal or stone barrier. Zombies are literally no threat to anyone. The only way the whole "zombie apocalypse" nonsense holds any weight at all is under the assumption that 99% of the world becomes a zombie simultaneously so you start out overwhelmingly outnumbered, because any other situation they are such jokes they'd never pose a threat to any society.
@@TheDrexxus The thing is, that extra HP doesn't open up any new playstyle or opportunities for you, it's literally carpentry in a different coat. You can't rely on it to hold hordes, and for a couple stragglers or area denial you are fine with wooden barricades... if metalworking made those barricades last let's say 2 days of banging by a horde of 100, now that would give players entirely new experience, Imagine stocking up on supplies, building up metal doors and metal fences in chokepoints around your base and turning on a siren. You'd not need guns per-say, you could make do with spears and kill zombies through the fence, but this is something you just can't do in vanilla right now, if you use exploits you are not under a clock, zombies literally cannot get to you through these barricades ever so a lot of the thrill is lost. Like there is so much potential with this, instead we get exploits that are very unbalanced and break immersion. Players clearly want defenses like this according to the amount of players taking advantage of these exploits and they should have them in some legitimate fair and balanced form.
I survived around 6 days or so (cant recall as I will explain) by stocking food, dragging everything I needed into a bathroom, taking sleeping pills every second I was awake to crash back out on the chair I brought in and all the food was stored in a fridge I blocked the door with, it went well until somehow they knew where I was, the door broke quick but I poked with crappy spears between the door frame and the fridge, but in the end I died lol
I am amazed that your computer is still working after this. IF you are able to keep it from imploding, I would love to see another ep of this! May the builder line survive!
I think it would not be unreasonable to try and survive the game breaking aspect of the zombie horde, escaping to the river should do it right? Besides that I'm not sure what you could do, food doesn't seem like a problem but fresh water probably would... I dunno but I would be interested in a small series where trying to keep the game from falling apart is an aspect of surviving. maybe, unless it is gonna harm the hardware then maybe it's a bad idea.
I've tried this so many times, but that first day I've never found the sledgehammer (and didn't know about the barricade glitch). Love the idea of the limited resources and expansion being so lethal.
You've heard of "The floor is lava", now get ready for "The floor is hungry"! the lava challenge gets much more interesting when real death loiters just below. I think this will be interesting no matter what you do with it, Lime!
A good video thanks for the upload and putting your computer through this, fir our enjoyment, I wonder how far zombies can sense you, and if there’s a way to mask that, or lure them away from you
So here's a small tip for anybody who wants to build a garden like Mr lying is right now on top of a building or even inside a building it's something I found out by accident if you build floor on top of concrete or on top of a roof where he is and then disassemble it the ground underneath turns to dirt no need to pack dirt from one place to another just lay down floor where you want Garden spots and then just disassemble them tah-dah garden spot hope this helps someone
bro imagine having the zombie apocalypse happen and the first thing your friend does is violently take out the floorboards and start throwing all the food out of the fridge
Impressive run! Quick tip though : You can pick the ground only once, and then put it on your roof. Then fill your bags with this unique square of ground. No need to go up and down take them one square at a time.
I really really really like this challenge ! Maybe if your pc bug too much with amount of zombie you could try again this challenge in a sandbox with making the peak population extremely large and to happen the 2 day ? Maybe it will work ? Idk, but really love this video, and you channel in general, keep up the good work !👍👍
Cool. Lime is doing the "Floor is Zombies Challenge." :P Does the trick still work where you can build a rain collector on the roof over a sink for indoor plumbing?
That remainds me of ol Bucket Bandit in the floor is lava series, exept the floor is zombie blob, and they can't cath and eat you, so they eat your RAM. As always good job Pr1vate "to be honest" Lime, you making us proud
I started this challenge today, and in my second try i get the big building like a survivors house, so i have toons of good loot, sledgehammers and guns weapons, medical things, and hopefully i found a good backpack there :D wish me more luck
You’ve got good ram. When it comes to that game break point in normal play it clears the street around you for two blocks then you meet high density again, played at 1 frame per 20-30 seconds in the tank for around an hour before the laptop rebooted itself
You should do a challenge where you 50 days to build the best best base with the best offense and defense and after those 50 days varying versions of zombies in large scale chords attack to win the challenge you. Have have no damage on your main base and to survive for 350 days and 7 hords
Ya know what would be a sick challenge is one where you can only travel by roof top you cannot touch the ground below you have stay up high or you instantly die or just have to delete the world
You could use a sledge hammer and destroy stairs in the first floor of several multi-story buildings. Then use a sheet rope to climb back up. Once the hordes show up you could disassemble furniture to build bridges between buildings and add walls so you don't accidentally fall. Then you can plumb a sink for infinite clean water and grow crops for food. If there was a wood stove somewhere you world be set for winter when the power goes out. Staying entertained would be the most difficult thing probably.
I otherwise got a challenge. 24 hours to prepare, except you're not allowed to build a base, you might find a safe enough spot to rest at, but the zombies never stop hunting you, right? So you'd never be able to stay for long. Or, 24 hour to prepare, AI Survivors, and your goal is to build up a secure enough base, find and recruit, obtain weaponry for yourself and the other survivors and see how long you last. Not allowed to build on roofs or inside buildings, or if in a building, not allowed to build on another floor and just break the floor or stairs, on ground level, fight to survive.
I can never get combat right. Maybe I'm just a boomer. I've got a wonderful metal pipe in my hands, I face my foe, I go to swing and my character decides to turn around and swing in the opposite direction. I get bit, my neck is bleeding, I turn around to push just to get bit again. I try to run, I get grabbed again... I get bit, I am slowly dying... I can't run, oh no! Another one is coming. I just can't run. I let the darkness come. I can't go on. Yes, I can't seem to last more than 2 days in this dang game.
Builder lore expands. Like a tree and its branches...(get it because its a carpemter joke and carpenters like trees and to chop down the trees, i think this was quite clever)
The ants go marching Trillion, by Trillion. Hurrah, hurrah. I don't even want to think about the smell. If you'd tossed one firebomb down below, you'd have burned your RL house down.
17:45 Talking about sowing seeds on the 20th of the month. Me: Pauses video to see how much longer it is, yep, about 10 more minutes. He definitely didn't make it that far 😂😂😂
