did it really ruin it that bad? Like rushed it or did it just ruin ruin it? I havent picked up the second season because I dont want it to be ruined, but should i just read it instead?
@@jaybay395 well if u read the manga then watched the anime, then you’d be pissed. I watched the anime first and it didn’t seem that bad till I read the manga afterwards and was like “damn. This is garbage” mainly because they skipped a lot of stuff and ended up doing their own thing. Also, they rushed a lot of things😕
season 2 just skips a whole character, and originally, you think "oh well he's probably just gonna die anyways or disappear " but then you go throughout this whole plotline in the manga that doesn't even show up in the anime, that adds more depth to the story and world.
Isabella's Lullaby is something I will NEVER forget. I knew what was being implied before ep10. A series that not just toils with your mind and emotions but also directs hints at what's going on; not just by verbal audio but music... that one song, was what set everything into motion.
Eh, the song itself sounds like generic whimsical fantasy shit. It's good, but I wouldn't really call it memorable, unique or particularly impressive on it's own.
@@The_Crimson_Fucker "Memoral" is synonymous to something you can "recall". Arguing that it's not "memorable" is hilariously ignorant. Why? Because I'm sure that if anyone played this song 10 years into the future, in front of the shows viewers, they would remember it. Root word of "memorable" is memory, and "remembering" is just as synonymous as the past statement. I'm talking facts and literacy here. People don't use the right terminology at all. What you mean to say is: "The song didn't do anything for me." Because, yes, while you see it as "generic", as many other people do; it falls under the folk genre, which is far from generic at all. Again, what you mean to say: "The song didn't do anything for me." My point? That's not what the original comment was referring to. "Memoral" by definition, not what you "interpret" and "feel" about it. Literacy my good people, learn it.
@@migueldiaz3262 That's neat but it's all bullshit. There's nothing particular about it, it sounds generic because it is and while *you might like it* that doesn't make it particularly impressive. The score itself is not memorable, I literally just listened to it 20 minutes ago and I can barely remember what it was like. So you're right, people don't use the right terminology. You say "memorable" whereas you probably mean "I liked it and thought it was good". Also, "memoral" isn't a word in the English language.
Honestly, this review was REALLY well produced! Your editing was much more intruigeing than the cliche Ani-tuber scene montage, the comedic parts didn't feel forced or out of place, but instead actually felt like they added to the subject of the video, and the scene transitions were really well done. Also, your choice of music for each section fit really well! This was seriously one of the most entertaining anime reviews I've ever seen
Fr bro what the fuck is wrong with them bro how did they not see the fucking gold mine the promised Neverland was like what was the actual point in ruining the series did they really NEED to end it at the second season they could of been making so much money if they didnt rush and made 3 or 4 more seasons and did this story justice it's like they wanted to piss everyone off and shir on the manga it's not even one of those cases where manga reader bias clouds your judgment it's like they hated the story with a passion
The Promised Neverland Spoilers I think that Krone adds that final push to really set the scene and the importance of the farm. With her craziness it shows just how messed up the outside world is and with her obsession to be 'Mother', it shows just how competitive being a caretaker really is and how poorly they're being treated.
@@liusunny7584 Oh no, how terrible that the comment I made 2 years ago is about a character that I already knew died after watching the anime and reading the manga over a year ago.
i agree that Phil is the best character in anything i mean i also read the manga am like 5 or 6 chapters behind were its at right now i think and Phil is still the best character how can he not be everyones favorite
It's the black bookend to Haibane Renmei, my favorite anime (and one of my favorite stories in any medium) of all time. Neverland asks some brutallty hard questions, and the character of Isabella challenges us to prove that we would be better than her in similar circumstances--and again, demands that we explain how our lives are in fact any different.
Krone made me hate her and fear her at the same time. Just something about her smile did not seem right. But like she's a real one for giving Norman that pen and the 2 keys.
I've never had an anime that I compulsively kept clicking next episode because I had this need to find out what happened until I watched this one. The pacing of this show is absolutely terrific, the characters are all amazing imo, all around I'd say it's a must watch who thinks that the premise is even slightly interesting.
Obviously you are correct about Phil being the best. You are also correct about besides Isabella lullaby(I know you made this before ep 12) you are too focused on the story to notice the music. However if you go on youtube and look up the sound track, a lot of the music is really good such as tag, Emma's theme, Emma's sorrow, and even dancing krone which is strange but interesting. I highly recommend that you listen to the soundtrack.
the reviewer claims that this is some original masterpiece but it continually borrows from existing media, resulting in 3 obviously predictable characters in my opinion, you could make an argument that the story is original, but if you ever watched Maze Runner, you would begin to realize the obvious similarities...
Man... I thought I was the only one who does what you said at 6:23, it's nice to hear that I'm not. I might give this anime a try, I've heard it's good, just not got around to it but seeing that clip with the footsteps, even out of context I did feel the tension.
Fun fact, Studies have shown repetition causes the brain to focus on other stimuli, allowing for tense scenes to become more tense. Or in the case of military POW survival training, torture to become worse, check out the Boots poem they play while you are practice waterboarded to get an idea of how repetition can change your outlook, we also usually look for a reason for a break in repetition as well, making us alert or vulnerable at the end of repetition, allowing for frightening moments out of people just talking.
I've watched a ton of your videos today, and I gotta say, you have exceptional music tastes, but the picks in the video blew me away. Stay cool. d(^.^d)
I need to get back and finish this but since I've been having almost daily panic attacks (i hope they are panic attacks) so it seems it's not meant to be for a while. I wonder if the story will hold up after they escape since writing wise it'll be a pretty large shift. Good video.
I watched this anime cause you suggested it and i think i cried more at this than i did at your lie in april. It was so good and i can't wait for more of your "best of " and review videos
I thought I had found all of your good videos. Guess not. I'm glad I've found an anime reviewer with basically the same taste as me. This anime is a banger.
manga > anime because the background scenes in the manga are worth noting as each side character reacts to what happens. it isn’t just the three main cast (and phil). wish they didn’t change the lines given to ray which they gave to norman. ray became more of a side character to bounce ideas off of in the anime.
As a lover of some "dang ass dog shit" , I LIVE for works this immersive. First time I saw this was on Toonami and immediately felt it entrance me before I realized kids were watching behind me...
Video: *shows lil Phil* "youre so fuckin precious when u smile" Me: "awww" Also video: *shows lil Phil* "hit it from the back and drive you wild" Me: NIGGA WHAT
Ok I'm gonna be honest I binged the whole thing in one day and if I'm going to be honest the entire thing was... underwhelming. Let me explain, spoilers obviously Episode 1-12 focuses on the kids escaping from the orphanage. The anime is okay for a psychological thriller but there's two things I believe this anime is lacking 1) Worldbuilding and 2) Psychological Insight and 3) Unique Characterization. 1) On the first point let me just say that I'm perfectly aware that the first season is story that takes place within a contained setting (A setting that consists of one location i.e the Farm) but not exploring the various elements that exists *within* the setting was almost criminal. In this department the anime focuses on the inferences made by characters about the "Human Farming" system that the Antagonists operate instead of the things within the house that could help them escape. To give you an example let's compare this anime to a TV show that features a similar contained setting. I'm talking about Prison Break and in the show not only is the protagonist the one who essentially *built* the prison in the first place but various aspects of Prison Life play a factor in his Escape Plan in one way or another. With the exception of using the game of "tag" to train the kids for the sake of the escape plan there's almost none of that here. For example, the tool to disable the tracking devices was built by a character *who was formulating an escape plan for 6 years* and the rewards used to build said item was gathered... all offscreen save the camera and ended up being useless anyway cause it was never used. I feel that the series would have been better had it gone in depth to the aspect of life inside the farm so we could be intrigued when the discover how to utilize everyday activities in their escape plan. 2) Ok this is by far the anime's biggest failing. Again hear me out, but compare this to Death Note and you can see the clear difference. WE NEVER GET AN INSIGHT INTO THE CHARACTER'S INNER PSYCHES. Plot Twists =/= Psychological Insight. In Death Note anytime a Kira or L would perform an action we would see how the character reacts INTERNALLY before we see how they react externally, ths best example of this is when L revealed his identity to Light. We NEVER get that here... everytime a Plot Twist is revealed or Spanner in the Works in the Grand Master Plan is discovered thr characters take a moment before devising a NEW (admittedly plausible) plan and explains it's details via exposition. In a Psychological Thriller, Psychological Insight is absolutely essential but in almost every instance that a problem arises the characters react externally and we never get to see what they're thinking. Worse, this hurts the "Antagonist" on a character level. We never see Mom's thought processes when any issue arrives even a generic "What are those kids plotting?" Or "How do I keep them from escaping?" would have been nice, but nah. 3) Speaking of Generic Characters the main cast falls flat. They have got to be some of the most bland, uninteresting, cookie cutter protagonists and antagonists I've seen thus far (except Krone and Phil, Phil is God). I can name 3 characters that describe the main trio (Norman, Ray, and Emma) and that would be Kirk, Spock, and McCoy from Stark Trek. Aside from the fact that they are children each character have the *same* mindset as their Star Trek counterparts. I'm not saying that the *character arcs* they go through are bad, but compared to unique casts like in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and One Piece you can see how these guys are not people who can carry the show or even engage the audience in some cases. You said that this was an anime for everyone but I disagree. I can see why you and others like it but I think these are pretty good reasons why others won't like it
I really hope they create a tribe of warriors and come back to free humanity from the demons. They have everything they need... Knowledge, males and females, Will, and purpose.
I gotta say, in my mind, almost no anime sit in the category of 'actually good'. There is certainly good anime relative to other anime. And certainly some good anime exists. But its a godawfully low percentage. No art form has disappointed me as consistently as anime tbh. They really know how to drum something up just to let it crash into a pitiful depressed and sad excuse for entertainment.
So I'm super late and nobody will probably ever see this, but I gotta say: That scene Scamboli showed with Norman walking, ready to you-know-what, is so horrifically sad and terrifying every single time.
"...super well-thought out." Plot twist in an interview with the manga's author (not the artist): *Oh I just pulled that shit out of my ass.* IRL, though in the beginning of one of the volumes (don't ask me which just go read it) I believe that the author (not the artist) said that they had been planning ahead several arcs/volumes... I don't know it's been a while. I gotta go reread it now. Also, Chrome was scary af when she was first introduced in the manga. But -- SPOILERS TURN BACK NOW -- y'know, ofc in the end she "helps" them but unlike a lot of manga she does it out of common interest in a way that doesn't feel at all forced and (I love Naruto read all 72 volumes watched Naruto but not Shippudden so it's saying something when I say) it's refreshing to have a character that doesn't convince the other team to help them win the tournament with a heartfelt speech about why they're evil and why they have to accept it and move on and become better and etc.
