I don't know why it changes it but it does vs havin it air dry on a rack on your table. it's just different. changes the crust a bit. dudes just proud of the product he's putting out, that's all. @@Matthewcrosby26yeah but the scale has changed and he has definitely given the same score to mediocre pizza when he liked the history of a place. He did a lot for small businesses so I get it but I also understand them thinking they were shorted a little bit
As someone who enjoys cooking at home and is never fully satisfied with how something turns out, I get it. He’s a perfectionist. That’s what makes him successful.
Literally every owner who isn't familiar with Dave's scoring is always disappointed when the score isn't a 9. 😂 They think 8 means "B-" when it actually means "great pizza".
@@zf5656anything in the 8s is generally a really good score from what I’ve seen. It’s his score rating after all. I think I have only seen over 9 line 3 times? Probably still should have been a 8.5 at least though.
That looked really good . I’m usually critical of Dave’s scoring, that sometimes he gives too high a score , but by the looks of this , imo , he may have underscored it

I love how some places will create a ridiculously thin pizza and make the masses believe it's some sort of high quality pizza. That pizza is undoubtedly garbage, but they pushed a certain reputation and the masses fell for it. That pizza is 1/3 as thick as NY pizza, has a splash of sauce, and a sprinkle of cheese. It costs almost nothing to make but they charge a high end price. People who go there deserve to be taken advantage of.
My man. Worked at a neopolitan pizza spot and those pies are thin and not drowned in toppings but this fad of poverty pizza is wild. I'm 180lb and I'd need two of those for an aftershift meal. The crust the same volume of base cheese and sauce combined hurts me dearly

Think about it, look at the side view... Minimal & cheap developed for people with no money stretching the dough to the limit to make you think you're getting value!!! Poor people food cooked fast from the depression era lol Tamales, Menudo, Tacos, finger food to sell alcohol with scraps feeding your family from what the butcher tossed away... probably the best concoctions that have stuck. I'd rather have a Filet with all the fixings or a tenderloin from a suckling pig.
I'm not a fan of "the crisp". - But I would eat one like that over any pizza where it's 4-6 blobs of mozzarella randomly strewn around a brick-oven pizza. Black on the bottom, mostly red on the top, and maybe your slice has a dollop of cheese.
So we're now at a time where worldwide, not just in US, pizzerias are changing their recipes to match the favoured style of Dave Portnoy. Sucks if you don't like pizzas with super crisp bases

8.2 is a good score not a great score. To dave that sounds amazing, his point system is just based on feeling anyway. he never tell what a pizza lacks to get a higher score.
After seeing so many of these a “great score” being 8.2 takes away a lot from the other pizzas. I’ve seen about 100 7.9-8.2 reviews. It seems like that’s the scale rather than 1-10 if he rates above 8.5 it might be the best pizza on planet earth

Dave, that’s not an 8.2. How is it not better? There was so little flop and you were so shocked by it that you said it had no crisp, not flop. I mean, you’ve given saggy nuts pizza 8.2 before and it’s suspicious. Explain or just simply do better. Too many 8.2s
I'm a fan St. Louis and Memphis style deluxe pizza. I lived in Memphis and grew up in Florida. Where I live now in Ohio, they think soggy, cheese over the toppings pizza is good pizza. I don't even eat pizza anymore. These shorts only reinforce me that I'm right. People around me don't have a clue.
If you gave Dave an oven baked paper towel with the thinnest slice of cheese you've ever seen on it, he'd coom over how thin and crispy it is and probably give it a 10.
Agree "monster score" (even a portnoy "monster score") isnt at ("great score") level. This was 8.5-8.7 zero flop / crisp (according to this scale) we may have to see a hole new "passed score /corrections revised 2025 year in review (year)"
Portnoy is ruining the unique quality of different pizza with his cult of personality. He has tunnel vision like his hero trump.. People love celebrities but, Portnoy is NOT.
As for the scoring system, i may not feel comfortable shouting out a 9.5 or 9.8 because Ive had an average amount of pizza experience and never on the east coast. But Dave has eaten at the best pizzarias in the country, easily. I feel like if lts one of the best pizzas hes ever had should autmatically go up over 9 at least. If not 9.5 or 9.7. Still room for it to be better but theres no magical pizza shop nobodys ever heard of making 10.0's in private.these amazing pizzas should be getting A's more often... Maybe Dave should at this point in his experience think of his top 3 pizzas ever, and plant those as his golden gooses 9.7, and then rate relative to those.
Any time he score 8.0 to 8.9… I just consider the score somewhere between 9.0-9.9 respectively… I love watching this videos… I love you how he does the play by play… I can’t stand how he scores. lol.
This pizza got a low score based on your previous pizza reviews. I'd say at least a 8.5+. We know you have given 9 scores before for pizzas that looked similar. Hmmm

8.2?? I've watched this dude review pizza after pizza. It really seems like the 8.0 - 8.4 range are actually 10s and anything he rates at 8.5+ are commercial garbage that lined his heavy pockets. He doesn't seem shocked at the higher score places yet anytime he tries a place like this he seems utterly shocked at how amazing it is.
