I WAS SURPRISED WHEN THIS HAPPENED 

Love it! As a retired flight attendant, in the old days we got to move people up to FC if we wanted to. I flew coast to cost and if we had a. Couple seats in first class I would find the two most exhausted looking businessmen sitting in the center seat and moved them up front. OMG, they always would say me??? And I would say yes, follow me. It was only a 5 hour flight but you’d think it was Christmas Day. Filled my heart with pure joy to see them enjoy the fancy food service. This was before the Frequent Flyer Programs. What fun! 😅

What a great upgrade - so nice that you were able to rest and get the sleep you needed.

I got that upgrade last year on my flight from Heathrow to US. I enjoyed it, because it may be the only time for me. LOL

BTW Premium economy is basically what economy used to be like. They downgraded economy to painful level to force people to pay and arm and a leg to get back normal coach seating (premium economy).

That happened to me on a trip from LA to Sydney.. Sat down (Business Class) got my meal, had one drink put the seat in recline mode and gone to the world.. woke up 1 hour before landing in Sydney.. honestly felt like the shortest flight yet was the longest I’ve ever done. PERFECT!!

I do that on trips. Sleep, sleep and sleep. I do hope you have netting for Greenland. I call them veils because it sounds classier.

Tried that premium economy, not worth it. My wife knows if she wants me to go overseas she will put me in business. My first time I wasn't sure it was worth the extra cost until about 10 minutes into the flight.

I had a 7 day cruise last November that I seem to sleep a lot more than usual. I fell asleep on a tour bus which I never do, I fell asleep during a massage 😳 when I finally made it home I found out I had COVID. I didn’t present any symptoms other than excessive sneezing and sleepiness.

I can’t sleep sitting up (I’ll just suddenly jerk awake after a few minutes). When I fly to Europe I’m usually extremely jet lagged. If I ever do a long-distance flight again, I’ll probably have to spring for a lie-flat seat. Congrats on the upgrade!

Ugh. I’m with you on the sleep. I slept 2.5 hrs last night before my 50.5 mile one way commute to my office. 7 hrs in the last 48 hours. I could really use a sea day 😊

I'm happy for you, Don. Every time my sister flies, they always call her to the desk, and she gets upgraded to first class.the first time she was asked if she wanted a cocktail 🍸 she asked how much $$ the flight attendant said everything is free up here. She has a sweet smile for everyone and is short maybe thats why, but it's happened at least 3 times I know of. I never flew 1st class😮

Love Iceland. Have visited there. My Granddaughter is a US/Icelander dual nationalist. I adore travel even on a bus. Have taken many long long bus trips ie: Amarillo to Montreal, for 1.

We use Air Transat Club Class for our international flights. For the price it's great!!! We always use Hilton Garden Inn and always enjoyed our stay there!

A few years ago, We were only the second large cruise ship to enter the NEW locks of the Panama Canal on the Caribbean Princess. Over a dozen cruises later on a variety of ships, the Caribbean Princess is still our very, very favorite ship. Crew told me aside that she is also the favorite ship of Princess Corporate Management. That’s “why” she has literally called on most of the major resort ports around the world. “Management likes to show her off” Amen, brother,,,,,

I always paid for business class out of Dubai to Atlanta and boy was it worth it, so I can understand how thrilled you were to get upgraded.

I once got my upgrade to business after I had already boarded on United. Such a great feeling!

We only fly premium select bulk head on delta. We have more room and no one in front of us. We also get to preorder our food.

I am always worn out on a cruise. It seems it's just always go go go. Heading to Alaska in 2 weeks and our goal is to take it easy but I know that won't happen. Our 1st excursion is at 7:30am.

we fly quick and easy when we lived in florida now in arizona what a pain in the ass for quick turn around trips. phoenix to calgary then to edinburgh on monday 19th quick back home saturday late day. cheap seats, fast trip. have to just deal with what ever you get lucky with. been flying back and forth to europe for 15+ years, and since covid its been sketchy.

Wow. I was upgraded to business flying from USA to Italy on the transatlantic leg a long time ago. It was great.

We've never flown over 3 hours before. I can't imagine being all cramped in a regular seat for that long!!

It sounds like the upgrade process is really a raffle since your points are history regardless. A bid is when you make an offer for something but you actually pay only if your purchase offer is accepted.

Air Canada has always seemed pretty expensive to me. Least year I flew 27500 air miles, including two flight that took 14.5 and 15.5 hours. Give me an aisle, my noise canceling headphones, an inflatable neck pillow, a mask and a couple of benadryl pills, and I can fly half way around the world! Mind you, i am 270 lbs.

Travel times are always relative. Where I live in Australia 6hr 40min is only an hour longer than it takes me to drive to the supermarket. I used to regularly fly Canberra to Perth or Darwin for 2 meetings. That's why I prefer cruising nowadays.

That's the best when that happens. I recall commuting from NJ to CA every week. When this happened to me it was the BEST. The sleep part, I never bid for an upgrade. United would just do it automagically based on status. Honetly glad I don't do that anymore. You can have your status LOL.

I got upgraded to 1st class one time and I’m so glad I did, we got stuck on the tarmac for several hours because of weather.

We love business class on those long haul flights!!

On our very first trip on WestJet we ended up getting upgraded. We had no idea how that happened but we were very thankful that it happened.
