Well, looking between a 986 and a 996 cabriolet, yes I like the fried eggs. What is your take as you had them both?

They are both very good and a lot depends on your driving preferences. I found my 986 Boxster to drive about as well as the 996, but there is a noticeable difference in power between the base models of each. While the 911 is certainly capable on a back road, the Boxster provided more confidence so it felt like you could drive harder getting closer to its limits. Now if you ever want to track it then the 996 is going to be better, although you will want to make sure you change your oil pan to a baffled pan to prevent oil starvation (always some interesting late night reading). For the money the 986 is probably the better value if you never need rear seats (they do come in handy with smaller children). However, if you have dreamed of owning a 911 and want to make sure you experience ownership and won’t be as happy with a Boxster then get the 996. I hope that helps. That is a very good system and made for the 996 specifically. The only thing I’m not is the way you loose a bit of storage with where the usb hook up is located. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

It was my dream car back in college, so was one reason I ended up going for the 996 over a 997 or 987 Cayman S that were also in my price range. I hope you eventually find a good one. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
