being adults only doesnt mean mature, and being kid friendly doesnt mean immature. puss in boots 2 managed to have one of the deepest, most mature stories about the fear of death and learning to value your life, while not underestimating the struggles of others. and it literally bleeps its own curse words.

It’s like the writers were trying to make Velma like Bojack horseman with all the terrible ways she treats others but they forgot one crucial detail. In Bojack horsemen when something like that happens your not supposed to be rooting for the man.

Mindy is the sole definition of the word "Privilege" itself. She grew up in a upper class, went to an ivy league college & never had to struggle in her life to get where she's today now. She made Velma herself insert but this version of Fred is actually HER.

I think we can all agree that the best bit of the show is when Velma gets hit by a car.

This show’s biggest crime was making Shaggy (Norville) a beta male. All my homies know Shaggy was the og rizz master.

Not-so-Fun fact: the VA for Freds dad in Velma is actually Frank Welker, the VA for Fred in the og show which is kinda nice but to think about it, this guy came back to this franchise and having to be apart of the mess that is this show which kinda sad tbh.

Honestly, embracing someone during a panic attack may even exacerbate it.

The entire show is like giving a Lego set to a toddler and watching them destroy it

What’s funny is that Scooby-Doo already had an adult episode in the crossover “Scoobynatural”. This is a perfect example that you can in fact bring the gang AND Scooby into a more adult setting while still keeping true to the source material.

For some reason the show refuses to approach any concept of bisexuality or the idea that you can like both men and women, its always either “Velma is straight” or “Velma is gay” like she cant have both. Shes mentioned repeatedly that she likes both men and women and its painted as a choice she needs to make or an obstacle she needs to get past when like, its not?? Shes bisexual, cool, lets move on

Velma did something right. It got me to remember how there are far better adaptations like What’s New and Mystery Incorporated to rewatch again. 🙂

One thing I have a problem with Daphne in this show is that her characterization is changed from episode to episode. One episode she's selling drugs a few episodes later she's now a daredevil. All of these are only delved in one episode and rarely talked about again.

At times it feels like this show was going to be a random comedy with original characters, but someone higher up decided to shove the scooby doo IP onto the show and the writers had to work with that.

I think you're the first reviewer to point out Scooby Doo's skeleton under the ground. Feels very bad in taste just like how Thundercats Roar had the skeleton of a character under the ground as a middle finger to the voice actor and audience.

Its absolutely fascinating how smug this show is I dont know how else to describe it. Like every time I hear about a "joke" from this series I feel like someone trying to elbow me with knives with them screaming "GET IT?". I am surprised you didnt go in on the reason why they took out Scooby being that they thought it would make it too kid friendly even though Family Guy, one of the most popular adult cartoons to exist, has a talking dog.

I've heard someone call Velma the combined character of Rick and Morty. For trying to be both cynical and sympathetic at the same time and not realizing why she's not everyone's favorite character

The most valuable thing about Velma is that is like The Emoji Movie, a dystopic tale, an urban legend of where the industry was heading if we didn't try to stop it and if it was too late, we couldn't have our voices listened ever again. This is the confirmation.

The best character without a doubt was the Sheriff, he could have saved the town if he backed up after running over Velma Kaling and finished the job. Gigi was also not bad as I expected her to be from what I’ve seen, she just belongs in a much better show.

Those live-action Cartoon Network movies from the late 2000s were a far better origin story than Velma is. At least those didn't have contempt towards their own audience and were just forgettable.

Velma makes the Scooby-Doo live action films look like a masterpiece

I have had panic attacks. Velma does an EXTREMELY poor job at portraying what panic attack is like. You don't start hallucinating. Think of the worst moment in your life. Have that moment vividly in explicit detail in your mind play on repeat. Have thoughts that progressively make your thoughts feed into your anxiety making it worse and worse. You breath rapidly. You can feel your pulse. You feel like everyone is out to get you and your life is actually over, but not with your death. You cry uncontrollably, even after calming down some. Your sense feel heightened, but not for your benefit. Things look slightly dull in color. All these are what a panic attack actually feels like and how I can verbally describe it. You don't snap out of it because you find something funny. In truth, in that state of mind, it is nearly impossible to find anything funny, especially if you feel like you are trapped or are in a situation where you cannot simply leave without explaining yourself. To the writer and director, I hope you become jobless and/or homeless. This is beyond offense. It is dangerous and will lead some dumb people to think this is how you help some experiencing a panic attack. You help someone with a panic attack by constantly comforting with words and sincerely tell him or her that he or she will be alright or things will be alright sincerely. Not doing anything for a person experiencing a panic attack is the worst thing you can do since he or she will confirm his or her delusional that no one loves him or her and he or she is truly alone.

On 11:07. Hugging or embracing someone during a panic attack is awful. _Kissing_ them, especially if you did not kiss them before, is borderline sexual assault. *Do not do that. Ever.*

As I've grown up, I've seen so much hate for Mystery Incorporated, so you don't understand how happy I am to see it get the recognition it deserves. Thank you

BoJack Horseman, Venture Bros, Daria. All great solid animations that people keep bringing up when it comes to this dumpster fire and I'm so happy these greats shows are getting more exposure due to how bad Velma is at imitating any of it

Imagine the next season comes out and they listened to criticism and it just becomes one of the best and most critically acclaimed animated TV shows of all time.

I think if I did watch this show, that scene where Velma laughs at Norville for confessing AND it relieves her of the panic attack is where I would stop. Very few things offend me in this world, but something like that is one of them.

I think Norville’s character might’ve worked if he slowly developed into Shaggy as the show goes on. Perhaps about halfway through season 1, he would try drugs, then in the finale maybe he gets a dog called Scooby and he’s started forgetting about his responsibilities. Then in season 2 (which they already got renewed for) we see him acting more impulsively, even getting a new haircut like the original Shaggy. Only in the finale, he would finally start calling himself Shaggy due to an epiphany he had while high. Not only would this be an improvement as it gives him a character arc, which he lacks in this iteration, but it also coincides with the darker attempts at being subversive that the rest of the show tries to implement.

I "watched" the first two episodes of Velma through EFAP's coverage, and the thing I always say about Velma that puts it on such a low tier is that a lot of the jokes are just bewildering. Like, Paradise PD may not be funny, but at least I can understand a joke being made and what the writers were going for when making it. But with Velma, I don't even know how to react other than confused. One of the more prominent jokes was something along the lines of, "Well at least I'm not an alcoholic mom losing custody of my kids like all other women solving crimes." Like, is that a dig on some stereotype I'm unaware of? A writing trope? Is that what happens to a lot of female investigators IRL? It's just bewildering.

So there I was. Driving to work at 3 am, chugging coffee to survive the drive. Then Cartoonshi drops the line, "Your life serves zero purpose." I cracked up laughing. That delivery was excellent

HBO Max Velma is basically undefendable at this point and I bet it's gonna be on everyone's worst cartoon lists.

This show would have redeemed itself if there was a scene where Velma says its Velmin time and Velmed all over the place

Thing is if this is meant to be an origin story then Scooby needs to be introduced eventually (and I don't mean the code name being made Scoobi I mean the actual Scooby) otherwise the question of how Scooby got in will never be answered. It's like having a Sonic the Hedgehog story without having Sonic at all.

Thing about ADHD is that if you're interested in what you are creating then it comes out polished, but if not, the project can often go half-asses or unfinished. So i guess i could believe the creators have ADHD if they did truly not like what they created.

I went downstairs to grab some food while playing video games with my friends. I'm halfway down the stairs and look to my left and see mom watching Velma. I asked her why and she said she was entertained. I was in tears.

When I first heard of this show and how it was going to be for adults and its going to be horror and focused on Velma I was exited. I was expecting the snarky but funny and smart Velma we all knew and loved that cared about her friends no matter what. then I saw fake shaggy. expectations went lower and lower the more I saw the cast of the new group named after the cartoon characters I grew up watching. I only saw reviews of this show and my god I'm so glad I never spent money to watch it. The edits you made made me laugh and smile, your jokes are 10x better and im so glad you told people to watch mystery inc 10/10 video, good luck recovering my good man

Oh yeah, you forgot to mention that Victoria (the main antagonist) hypnotized Velma (after kidnapping her mother) into getting all those anti-mystery hallucinations. So, uh...yaaaaayyyyy, it was neeeeever Velma's fault aaaaafter allllllll.
