Have you seen X-Men '97? Well I sat down and watched all of it in one day! I haven't been the biggest X-Men fan in the past, but this series is some of the best superhero media there is! If you have watched X-Men '97 what was your favorite part of the series?? #marvel #xmen97 #xmen #wolverine #mcu

U dont know what the term filler is. U think it’s a term for boring and u got it wrong my friend. Just cuz ur not into it or find it boring doesn’t mean it’s filler. To be clear filler is taking a break from the overarching story and not advancing the plot or character arch’s in any meaningful way! And episodes 4 and 6 don’t qualify as filler. It’s fine if u don’t like them and Storm doesn’t do it for u that’s a matter of taste but ur label of filler is misused.

You’re right. I just found them to be very sluggish to get through. Compared to the other 8 episodes they were not as entertaining. Maybe it’s bc I’m not as familiar with all of the X-Men lore and characters (like Forge) but I do value character development and slow burns in stories. I think my main issue was that I was so deeply invested in what was going on with the other X-Men (and because I watched all of this in one sitting) that when it cut to the slower paced parts with characters I don’t have an interest in, I was not as invested.

@@codycoxx well i appreciated hearing ur thoughts as someone new to X-men I’ve been a fan for over 25 years so it’s kinda cool to see the perspective of not just someone new to X-men but someone younger as well. You like what u like and u never for apologize for it ur opinions are ur right so u can and not like whatever u want and always be truthful even if others disagree so I never minded that u didn’t like those episodes. I just took exception to u referring to them as filler. Loads of people use that purse and don’t use it correctly and it’s irksome…lol But for what it’s worth I enjoyed ur video watched it all and saw most of ur Spidey video afterwards…

I love making videos like these, but I can definitely see why someone would be annoyed or irritated with the word filler especially when no properly used. I grew up on Spider-Man and I honestly don’t know anything about the X-Men besides the few movies I’ve seen, that’s why I wanted to preface that going into the video Part of the reason I made this channel was to be able to watch media that I never got the chance to appreciate when I was younger. I’m only 22 years old and I’ve got a lot of stuff behind me to look at and a lot of stuff from today. I like what I like and want to speak about it because I find it interesting, hopefully others will also. Thanks for checking out my videos and commenting, my favorite thing about making these videos is being able to respond to people like you even if I met with some sort of criticism, which in this case I definitely deserved. Hope you stick around !

It’s okay, I got why he felt that way. In retrospect, we were not prepared in the slightest for what happens in episode 5 and in the episodes leading up to the 3 part finale. I call 4 and 6 breathers instead of fillers. Cause we need that break from the trauma and heaviness that follows it.

For real. People seem to think that it should be a direct line from plot point to plot point but no. Stories are not just a direct line from the beginning of the plot to its end. The destination is not the journey. That said, I thought both Lifedeath parts were weaker elements for the season, so I get his point.

My best friend is a binge snob. Refuses to watch anything unless he can do it all in one sitting. With this type of show it messes up the experience, getting to talk about each episode for a week til the next one. It was an awesome experience. It made every week hyped. I miss it already.

Episode 4 was not filler, it was about making Jubilén mature and continue walking into the future, episode 6 was important, since Xavier almost died from an attack that happened in the original series of The 90s, and the Shiar cured him, on the other hand Storm has claustrophobia, so four and six were important to give a background to the characters
@rayeregan8114

The 'Adversary' attacking Storm has a lot to do with what we psychologically know as ones shadow. It feeds off it, and Storm had to confront some deep inner truths about herself to overcome what was blocking her own powers. I understand not everyone is aware of what the shadow is, that's fine, vut the depiction of addressing it was done in such a powerful visual way and I do get a bit disappointed some people don't appreciate it. Its fine, truly. Just my two cents.

@@codycoxx Depends on how old you're willing to go haha. I'd skip the Stan Lee stuff unless you want to see some famous first appearances. If you can stomach some 70s comics, I'd start reading Chris Claremont's run which starts with Giant Sized X-men #1 and brought Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine to the team for the first time ever. His run from 1975 to 1991 is all the most famous X-men stories. I'm in the middle of the Phoenix Saga right now. and if all that stuff is too vintage for you, then you cant go wrong with any of the great solo Wolverine comics like Weapon X or Old Man Logan. Old Man Logan is easily one of my favorite comics ever, and partially an inspiration for the film Logan, as well as the upcoming Deadpool/Wolverine movie. You can read that comic with very little context. I havent read them yet, but some of the best out of context X-men comics seem to be Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men run, Age of Apocalypse (alternate future comic which might play into next season), Days of Future Past, God Loves Man Kills, and New X-men: E is For Extinction, which inspired this season of the show. Hope that was all informative lol

@@codycoxx yeah for a lot of the series you don't need to know but for the Xavier thing it's super weird, and as much as that space stuff is irrelevant to this season it could easily be relevant to later seasons given a lot of connections between shiar and xmen stories

I think the differences in opinion between you and some commenters here may possibly lie in a lack of familiarity with the source material from the graphic novels? From beginning to end, I found the entire series was told in a very deliberate way making good use of every second of screen time. I can understand why you may have perceived Jubilee's storyline in the "Motendo" episode to be "filler", but I respectfully have to differ. It presents a healthy dose of nostalgia for sure. I give Marvel a pass here as it was a clever and very artfully done bit of fan service to highlight the original Xmen arcade game some of us are old enough to remember :-) A wonderfully surprising tribute to see. But that storyline did also serve to develop Jubilee's character. In "Motendo" we got to see how Jubilee was given an opportunity to mature from wisdom received from her older self in the game (voiced by the original voice actress for the character from the early 90s Xmen animated series). She also learned that her mutant power has greater potential than she had been using it for (the importance here plays out toward the end when she lands a very damaging blow to a certain purple-clad villain's face!). This makes it much more believable that the perpetual newbie teen-girl from the original xmen animated series has developed into a young woman whose powers now pose something of an actual threat. This episode shows us that Jubilee's powers are more dangerous than ever before, that her power as an Xman has been upgraded and that we in the audience need to start to take her a little more seriously in this series. We also get to see how much more skilled Jubilation had become since enrolling in Xavier's school, as she has quicker reflexes under fire than the new, newbie mutant (Sunspot); In episode 3 we see how much more resourceful and collected she is when Madelyn's nightmarish illusions attack Jubilee and Sunspot through the TV. And she is given a love interest for the first time I believe, which further illustrates her evolving maturity. Her burgeoning relationship with Sunspot lends an extra dimension of emotional complexity and drama to the conflict that will ensue between Magneto's faction and the Xmen team proper, toward the end of the season, when lovebirds "Jubes" and Sunspot find themselves in ideological opposition. This is just my take on that part of the series. Each person who watches it will come away with their own subjective experience of it--yours being no less valid for you than mine is for me. But having read many an Xmen comic book in my day, I just wanted to say that being familiar with the source material definitely helped me to see how much the writers enrich these stories with so much meaning and detail that enhances the narrative beyond what you might catch on first pass. So "Jubes'" story may not quite as compelling as Storm's, Rogue's & Gambit's, or the Summers', but I praise the writers for never resting on their laurels, and taking every character's story seriously even in areas where they didn't need to. It makes the whole series better for having taking 10 minutes to do a little justice to Jubilation Lee's and Sunspot's character arcs. I enjoyed your reaction! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

@@codycoxx if you want to dive further into it, you can I’ll give you the key episodes if you want to check the whole season out you i’m just giving key episodes that are likely going to pertain to season two and maybe season three of X-Men 97. Kind of see where they’re going with it, especially after that ending. . Season one episode 1-5 episode 7-13 //Season two episodes 1-3, 5 , 7, 8 //season four episodes 3,4 and 6 episode 8- 10 episode 14 16, 18-21 // season five 579 and 10. . Season three to me is the most watchable and has the bulk of what you need to know but the other stuff is possibly be in later seasons. These episodes are more like the early adventures of the X-Men and you just got through watching are the grown-up adventures of the X-men. Some of this before and go back and rewatch X-Men 97 with eyes probably. You may find it a whole lot more enjoyable second go round. I know it’s a lot man, but I just put it out there.
