"I still don't get Cait Sith" Reeve remotely controls a robotic toy cat with a scottish accent which shouts commands through a megaphone to a giant stuffed toy moogle which is apparently alive somehow, while also reading people's incredibly inaccurate fortunes. He does this all while managing a full time position as the head of Urban development at Shinra Inc. What's not to get? Seems like a pretty run of the mill character to me 🤪

The dog is a wolf, a ‘lone wolf’ to be precise, and represents how Cloud is meant to be a pack animal but has cut himself off from his found family that could help help pull him out of his guilt and depression. Note how his outfit has a medallion of a wolf on the shoulder, and his motorcycle is named ‘Fenrir.’ Like many of Cloud’s visions of Aerith, the wolf is meant to be a metaphorical presence, not a literal flesh-and-blood one. Interesting note: the only vision of Aerith that is theorized to be ‘real’ is the final one at the church, the rest are all just Cloud’s imagination. Bittersweet to realize that even as he torments himself with guilt over her loss, his imagined projections of her still refuse to blame him. And to twist the knife a little more, her face is not shown in his imagined projections of her, possibly because Cloud doesn’t think he actually deserves to see her again. Thus, when she actually appears for real at the end and smiles at him, he smiles back, showing that he’s finally achieved peace and closure. Overall, the plot is a little weak, the English voice-acting is uhhh… lacking… in some parts, but the fights are so gorgeous and I enjoy the theme of finding closure, overcoming one’s guilt, and finding joy in life again. That exchange near the end of the final fight hits so hard. Sephiroth: “Tell me what you cherish most. Give me the pleasure of taking it away.” Cloud: “You just don’t get it at all. There’s not a thing I *don’t* cherish!” To hear this from guy who spent the whole film moping about and avoiding his loved ones shows that he’s really picking up the pieces. I might have to pick up the complete version now, as I really like the added scenes I glimpsed in your video.

Jenova is a mimetic lifeform, based on "The Thing." Not only can she mimic other lifeforms (both appearance and memories), she can infect them with her cells and transform them into copies of herself, and her cells always try to reunite with the main body. Sephiroth inherited those abilities as her "son," which is why all the Sephiroth Copies started to look like him and tried to reunite at the Northern Cave. Every time Sephiroth dies his cells become part of the Lifestream again, and when the Lifestream emerged to stop Meteor at the end of FFVII, the people it passed through became infected with his cells. That's what Geostigma is; the people thought it was a curse from the Planet, but it was actually Sephiroth's cells infecting everyone so he could try and do another Reunion. The Remnants are lifeforms he created in the Lifestream from his own cells and the memories / appearances of dead souls, since he didn't have enough strength to come back in his true form yet. There is a prequel novel ("The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story") that tells the story of Kadaj's creation and his first attempt to recover Jenova, which ultimately failed and prompted Sephiroth to produce two more Remnants. Some of the new characters in Remake, (Kyrie, Leslie, and Mireille) were originally from that novel. It's less of an action story and more about Kadaj using his mimetic powers to impersonate and trick other characters while seeking Jenova's remains.
@goldenphoenixnaruto

I am forever sad, after reading the novel, that the movie barely showcased any of the Remnant's powers. The horror elements are damn near nonexistent here.

You missed the fact that Sephiroth's will is the reason he became the dominant personality in the whole Jenova thing; his will and conscience was so friggin' strong that he began controlling Jenova's cells and powers like his own.

Back in the day I used to hate this movie and only like the action scenes, but as time went on and other members in community pointed out the themes AC is going for I started to more lean towards actually liking it. IMO the first half is a bit weird actually. Scenes just kinda end like cutscenes with no gameplay between them and I think movie actually comes on it's own half way through. Themes of AC are harder to notice on first watch, but once you realize them it starts to make sense. Even Nomura thinks it can be a boring movie if your not looking out for stuff. Regarding questions you had. Let's start with Rufus. The way he survived is under his fathers desk was a button that opens a door under the desk for emergency. President installed it after Rufus when he was a kid to try to impress his father pointed out that there should be a hidden door for escape. President Shinra laughed at him, but he actually listened and installed it. After what happened with Midgar he get's saved and goes through arc that changes his views, but during this time he get's infected by geostigma. Geostigma is corrupted souls in lifestream by Jenova. Remember in Remake she uses it in one of the phases. The Sephiroth remenants are clones of Sephiroth and each has some trait of Sephiroth. One is pretty, other is a mommy boy stuff like that. They come from the crater after Shinra was investigating it at the start of the movie. Nomura intentionaly made them pathetic like that, because they are just incomplete clones. Next time your playing Remake pay attention to the weapons three whispers at the end of the game have. The wolf is called Fenrir. He follows Cloud around the places that are important to him and he represents his regrest and guilt. Aerith and Zack literally live inside Cloud as memories that he can't let go because he blames himself and wants forgivnes and now that he's happy he's afraid he can lose important things to him again. The idea is Cloud needs to forgive himself. When he get's over this the wolf dissapears and he let's Aerith and Zack go. Yes the final battle in Remake is made to remind the battle in AC, but it goes deeper then that. It's actually the final 2 battles of OG. You fight Harbinger Sephiroth(in english he was called Bizzaro Sephiroth) by swithching parties and taking out different parts of his body then you fight Sephiroth himself, but the difference in Remake is instead of numbers of your party getting less it's reverse. The power is coming together. Everyone comes together to fight Sephiroth and in Remake when Cloud tries to kill Sephiroth after chasing him down the lifestream he can't do Omnislash, Sephiroth block every attack. And the most interesting one Sephiroth. So when he died he let lifestream to just swallow his memories thinking he doesn't need them, but then he realized that without memory of who he was he can't reform himself on the surface and the only one who still has connection to him is Cloud. That one small part of Sephiroth that's still in Cloud is how he's still alive and if Cloud dies so will he. This obviously goes into Remake in really cool way I don't wanna spoil now. I hope I cleared up some stuff. After watching this I recommend checking out the Sephiroth trailer for Smash Bros if you haven't seen it.
@Cetra29
@Cetra29 2 года назад
The Sephiroth remnants are not clones ... they are straight up souls he found in the Lifestream which he connected to himself. OtWtaS explains that. And the Edge if Creation clash is not an Omnislash. AC Complete has an Omnislash.

Whenever Cloud gets a blue glow around him that's a signal he's using a Limit Break technique like Braver or Blade Beam. At the end of the movie he did try to use his original Omnislash, and Sephiroth, the genius fighter he is, countered it knowing what to expect since it was already used on him once. The multi sword attack at the end is Cloud's newest version of Omnislash (version 5). You might have realized at the end of FF7 Remake that Cloud also tried to use his original Omnislash on Sephiroth but was completely blocked and countered as well, because Sephiroth due to time shenanigans knew how to do so, and Cloud had not yet created new versions of Omnislash yet.

@@MiguelAldanotes I say that since I see too many people misinterpreting their friendship for something more (which was at the end just on Aerith's part), thinking that Cloud is pining for her, while his problem in Advent Children is about him, starting after two years from the OG game, to fall again into depression, while he can't enjoy anymore his life, family and friends, because of the guilt he feels for Zack and Aerith's deaths. The biggest issue is that there is an entire book that serves as a prelude to the movie! Where they explain the whole Kadaj and Sephiroth thing In case you're lost on it check the Final Fantasy Wikia for Kadaj where you have all the details in order, you can also search "remnants" for results on the infection Also there's a lot of similarities between the movie and Remake! The three Ghosts that the Harbinger of Fate summons at the end are the Kadaj gang, just like one of the Sephiroths in the Remake has knowledge of the events in the movie!

I've always had the perspective of _Advent Children_ being somewhat of a clumsy aside to the main story. I remember that a lot of people who used to do those kind of deep dive analysis essays on video games and their companion media were ambivalent towards AD for a long time because of how they "mishandled" Cloud's character arc. Looking back in hindsight, I think Square Enix did a decent (if somewhat clumsy and overdramatized) job of illustrating Cloud's PTSD/Survivor's Guilt. I think most people forgot about Cloud's mental breakdown at the beginning of Disc 2 and we're too busy making fun of his "emo" characterization post-Advent Children to really notice. As much of a huge FFVII nerd I was as a little kid, I had no clue about the expanded Compilation of Final Fantasy VII until I was an adult. I always wanted to get my hands on the games and short stories, but never had the money to do so. Plus there was a spell where I stopped playing video games tried to be a "serious" adult with no hobbies or personal interests. lol But it's been fun watching someone who never had the nostalgia for Final Fantasy as a franchise most people have fall in love with it. Especially VII. There was a brief spell in the 2010s where everyone took turns shitting on VII because if its popularity and oversaturation. But ever since Remake came out, people have got off the hate train and come full circle back to singing its praises. It feels like the story of VII actually grew up alongside the fanbase. So as an old fan to a new one. Welcome to the club. I'm glad to have you.

Glad you watched it! This is one of my favorite movies ever. Back in 2006 this was better than anything i've seen in ps2 days. Remember this is 2006 ps2 days dubbed voice acting lol .It doesn't make much sense if you don't know the details, rewatch it later you'll like it more. Cloud became super depressed after the death of Aerith and the end of FF7. All of the crew are happy and moved on, except him. That is why he still lives in the church not with tifa, he wants closure. He truly regrets causing Aerith's death, she was his true love based on FFVII Ultamania Omega. The guys he's fighting are remnants, remember the cloaked guys in remake? that's the last three numbered ones. Sephiroth Died and became part of the lifestream and began corrupting it, causing the stigma. He used Kadaj the remnant with Jenova cells to return. In remake he uses the cloaked remnants to go anywhere, remember Jenova Dreamweaver, it was a clone and Jenova cells just like Kadaj in the movie. If you remember in og FF7 Sephiroth is dead all of that time he was using clones. The water is Holy from Aerith to cure the world and resurrect Cloud who died at the end.

Here's a small random fact for you (and more of a thing to think about when it comes to the remake!) At the beginning of Advent Children, as we are given a recap of things, a song is played, titled "The Promised Land". What's interesting about this is that in FF7 Remake, there's actually an orchestral, non vocal version of this track that plays right after the first "meeting" between Sephiroth and Cloud...perhaps hinting that something much deeper is going on with this Sephiroth than we think... Or MAYBE, it's implying that this is less of a meeting... And more of a reunion.

My theory for how Cait Sith worked was that Reeve had some kind of materia that could control him over distances mentally. If I recall Cait even had a manipulate materia on him when he first joins but it’s been awhile since I last played so I’m not 100% sure. Also final fantasy 11 added a puppet master class and one story npc had a puppet she controlled that had a polar opposite personality so I always just thought of Cait like that.

Basically the Jenova cells put the Geostigma in the Lifestream when Aerith used Holy to counter Meteor at the end of FF7. To do so she called the Lifestream out over the entire planet, affecting basically everyone on it, so everyone was infected. Sephiroth is really kinda tertiary to the events. Certainly a flawed movie, not the best, but hell if it isn't incredibly fun to watch.

I really like how much of this movie address’s Cloud’s unresolved trauma from all that he has suffered and the last 10 minutes feel like such a comforting conclusion to his arc.

Wait until you realise that Remake is not referring to a remaster but is Sephiroths intention to remake the timeline. Once you've finished this, read On The Way To A Smile and replay 7 Remake again. It makes so much more sense as to Aerith and Sephiroth behave as they do.

"This is so similar to the ending of Remake" Yeah that was ABSOLUTELY done on purpose. You hit the nail on the head at the end - most of the weird shit that happens in Remake that isn't in the original FF7 is directly tied to Advent Children's Sephiroth. If you want to dig deeper into the theory and explanations of what exactly is going on with the Remake/AC connection, I highly recommend two video podcast discussions, by Easy Allies (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rfgw7iDZ-bo.html) and Dropped Frames (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h3Ex8ILaJAA.html). Especially the Dropped Frames one, which includes an explanation of some of the non-game canon material that sets up Advent Children. Both are excellent, and while some references to Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus are mentioned, there's no major spoilers for either of those games, only for the original and AC. Or, if you don't want to watch 5+ hours of theorizing (understandable!), the TL:DR is that Sephiroth can always come back so long as he has access to 1) a body infected with Jenova cells and 2) someone who knows and remembers him. That's why he's so fixated on Cloud, in both AC and in Remake - nobody alive knows him better than Cloud does.

The Remake Fight was 100% a recreation of the AC fight. It's not being explained so well yet but I think that whole final sequence after going into the portal in Remake is like jumping through a series of memories (First you are in Midgar, then you jump to where Meteor falls and Sephiroth sucks it up, then you are 2 years later fighting around a crumbling Shinra building). The plot takes some thinking for the pieces to fit. The short story written by the FF7 writer "On the Way to a Smile" describes this memory lifestream idea and how Geostigma happened as well as what the 3 white-haired guys are supposed to be and their connection to Sephiroth.

@@-solidsnake- Have you... played Remake? While obviously nothing has been outright stated yet, it's pretty damn heavily implied that Remake isn't the first time through for many of the characters. Full story spoilers for Remake below. Cloud's first time meeting Aerith in the Church, _he has a flashback to her death!_ And a lot of the stuff that Sephiroth and Aerith say really make it seem like they both have knowledge they shouldn't. Heck, that's why the Whispers exist! They're literally trying to enforce the canon storyline on the world, and they appear any time something might threaten that. The whole fight at the end of Remake that ends with their destruction means that the world can go in a new direction, not tied to the old canon. That's why the first primary scene we see _after_ the destruction of the Whispers is Zack _surviving_ his final stand. We see the exact same scene from Crisis Core, which is Cloud's past, where Zack dies fighting Shinra to save Cloud. Only, after the Whispers are defeated, and Fate is unbound, Zack manages to win. Zack's death was a pivotal moment in the old story, and him moving forward with Cloud _alive_ is a major flag that this isn't the same story anymore. Heck, it's the final line of the story of Remake! "The UNKNOWN journey will continue". If it's the same world, following the canon story, how is the journey "unknown"?

The second (who is tormenting cloud in remake) tore a hole in reality and traveled back 500 or so years in the past. Aerith (more what was left of her fading self in the life stream) followed him back and merged/passed on her memories to her past self. This is why Aerith knew not only who, but also where, Marlene was during the sector 7 plate incident despite no one mentioning her before to Aerith. The creators of the game have also come to say that it is in fact a sequel and "Remake" doesn't necessarily mean that it's a newer version of the game, but it's Sephiroth trying to rewrite the events of the past in game so that he will be victorious. The Whispers are there to keep everything on track, but once defeated, anything can happen in the games to come.

I do think it explores the narrative concepts enough, I love this movie, I think the biggest reason a lot of people don't like it is because they missed the themes in the original game, and don't realize how the movie continues it, as a result they think the story is about Cloud being lovesick or something, which makes the story feel shallow and makes Cloud feel like he's just regressed as a character. I think every story stands and falls on the personal human story that's being told, and I think Advent Children tells a great one, considering they only had about 2 hours to tell a story that logically continues from the character arcs in 7. And once you realize that, and realize how the actual events of the story, like Sephiroths return, are connected to those personal messages the story starts feeling a lot more meaningful. In FFVII Cloud was running away from his past, he was ashamed of who he was, and pretended to be someone else. By the end this arc is resolved by Cloud accepting the past and acknowledging his own weaknesses instead of running away from them. But even though FFVII shows Cloud awknowledging the past, it never shows him actually coming to terms with what happened with Aerith and Zack, and that's what this movie chose to adress. Here, Cloud no longer runs away from his past, instead the pendulum has swung the other direction. Having acknowledged what really happens, Cloud is suffering from guilt, ptsd, and cherophobia (the fear of happiness). Instead of running from the past, Cloud is now exhibiting the opposite problem, he's lingering in the past. He feels shame and guilt over letting Zack and Aerith die and forgetting Zacks memory. He feel like he's at fault, that this happened because of his weakness. In essence he is reliving the feelings felt after nibelheim and failing Tifa, and instead of running away, he now makes the opposite mistake. To Cloud, it's his fault Zack and Aerith are dead, and as a result, he feels he should feel guilt. When he is happy living with Tifa and the children, he feels guilty about being happy, he feels that being happy does a disservice to the people who died because of him. They're dead and he's happy? Unforgivable, to Cloud, moving on is like forgetting their memories all over again. He forget Zack once, but never again. The sad reality of course is that by not allowing himself to be happy, by never moving on, that is what is doing a disservice to the memories of Zack and Aerith. They would not want this. And this is represented by the visual of the buster sword rusting away at Zacks grave. By not letting go of the past Cloud is soiling Aerith and Zacks memories. By the end of the movie Cloud regains the strength to fight, and learns that it's ok to let go, he seeks Aeriths forgiveness, but as Aerith tells him, it's not her forgiveness he needs, he needs to forgive himself. He needs to just do his best for the children and Tifa and not let the past shackle him. After Symbolically letting Zack and Aerith go they walk into the light, they can "move on". By the end, Cloud lets the past rest, he lets it be beautiful, which is represented by Aeriths flowers on Zacks grave, and Zacks bustersword being in the churs, now shining and bright. By letting the past rest, Cloud now lets it be beautiful. Zacks grave is no longer the place a hero died, but where a hero was born. Cloud thinks in positives. After FFVII, Cloud tries to make up for his sins by "living", that's the only way he thinks he can make up for it. But that already shows a mistake in his thinking, because there is nothing to forgive. And it's that mistake that leads to the problems shown in AC. He thinks he can earn forgiveness by living, and by protecting Tifa, Marlene, and Denzel, the boy who he found at Aeriths church, who he thinks was lead to him by her. But then Cloud contracts geostigma, and instead of being able to protect the ones he loves most, he's going to die. And he can't protect Denzel, he's going to die as well, Cloud can't protect anyone he feels like. And as a result he feels like he's lost his path to redemption, and is on the brink of giving up. This is a continuation of the same themes we see in FFVII and remake "you're too weak to save anyone", "you've failed again I see". AC is about letting go and moving on, and this is where Sephiroth comes in, the physical manifestation of the concept of letting the past rest. Sephiroth can never die while Clouds hatred for him continues to endure, because as long as that happens Sephiroths memetic legacy lives on in Cloud. Clouds melancholy makes him susceptible to geostigma, him not being able to let the past go directly causes Sephiroth to be able to grab a hold of him once more. I love this movie, because I think it's one of the most realistic depictions of depression and guilt I've seen in any medium, and I do think it explores an actually important part of the arcs set up in FFVII. Without AC, I feel like Clouds character development is sort of incomplete. It would feel like "just accepting the past" is a single one and done deal, while Advent Children really shows the important final step in the process.

Well FF7R is FF7-2 as the Sephiroth you see is a post Advent children version of him. Also the reason Aerith seems to know so many things she shouldn't know at that point in the story of remake, is the fact her future dead self is talking to her past self via the lifestream. So in short post Advent Children Aerith and Sephiroth are using the lifestream to manipulate the past aka FF7R (FF7-2). Also every FF7 title in the compilation is cannon for better or worse. One other thing to add is that after the events of the movie humanity dies out. The ending of FF7 is considered a bad ending as the post credits scene shows 500 years later humanity is no longer around (This has also been confirmed by the developers). Which is why in remake the visions of the future are referred to as bad by the team during their encounter with the Harbinger. And this is just a small part of what's really going on. FF7 lore is kinda crazy now after being added and expanded on over 25 years lol.

Basically killing Sephiroth in 7 polluted the Lifestream because he and Jenova are not from this planet. The Stigma is people getting infected with Jenova cells as the three remnants tried to have another reunion. Cloud kills Sephiroth again in this one and Aerith and lifestream are able to cleanse the remaining Jenova cells in people. Sephiroth knows he can't physically come back anymore so through the Lifestream he goes back in time to the beginning of 7 and tries to stop our characters from ever meeting and throwing them off their paths. That's what Remake is. It's actually a sequel. Only Aerith and Sephiroth are aware of the events of original 7 and Advent Children. That's why in Remake they kept flashing things that hadn't happened yet. The Lifestream in Remake is trying to warn Cloud that the timeline is being changed. Remake is literally about Sephiroth Remaking the timeline and changing history. That's why he has the wing early and why the whispers are trying to stop him from changing destiny. Remake is a sequel to Advent Children

It's meant to be watched several times as there are hidden aspects in it. A ton of lore. And yes they fully intended to make the end of Remake simulate AC-- for lore reasons. AC doesn't mention this but Sephiroth actually bound his core to Cloud from the Lifestream which is how he is able to come back to the surface. This is noted in the book On the Way to a Smile which is canon. It takes place before AC.

You had me dying last night, you trying to upload this video 😂🤣. I love this movie, even with all the weird plot stuff going on. The fights and designs for the characters are soo good, very ahead of it's time when it came out. To clear some things up, Geostigma or Seikon Shōkōgun, which the real translation is the Sephiroth Gene, is a disease. This disease was caused by when the meteor came in contact with the planet, the Lifestream came in contact with Jenova cells, spreading a deadly pathogen to the planet. Geostigma will in turn cause sickness, and inevitable death. Cloud in a sense already had GeoStigma , when Jenova cells were already implanted in him. Not only that, he is suffering from Mako poisoning, which is the result under going SOLDIER + JENOVA experimentation. Each SOLDIER is fated for a early death, because there cells are accelerated by Mako, So his case is way worse than everyone else. The Remnants are just parts of Sephiroth, that represents his most powerful qualities. Sephiroth himself is also in the Lifestream, so he is basically a god in a sense, but he can't fully manifest in the world, so he can create fragments of himself, to hopefully bring himself back. IMHO, the voices in the Remake is way better than most of them in this movie. I think I only like Sephiroth's more in Advent, Aerith I like more in the movie too, but it fits only in this movie because she's way more mature. Her Remake one is amazing.

As much as I love this movie, it is a Nomura story lol it will never fully make sense. He loves abstract symbolism like the Fenrir spirit showing up every time something major happens (at least, I assume it’s Fenrir because the name of his bike is the Fenrir and he has a wolf’s head logo on his vest which SE has marketed as Fenrir). It’s a good movie if you turn off your brain and just accept it as a Nomura story and be thankful it didn’t include KH levels of time jumps and narrative shenanigans. It has probably been clarified already, but the source of the geostigma was in fact Jenova cells. If you recall in the original ff7 Sephiroth was blocking Holy from stopping Meteor. In AC, he continued to pollute the lifestream with his existence in the form of Jenova cells. This caused the geostigma to manifest. As for the triplets… that is still really fuzzy. I assume they are pieces of Sephiroth that were divided in the final fight. Since Sephiroth is basically a big mass of Jenova cells, this allowed Kadaj to “ascend” to Sephiroth. It’s all a lot of speculation in the end because the narrative was so flimsy to begin with lol The complete version you watched is vastly superior to the original movie when it originally released. It makes a lot more sense if you can believe it 😂 Denzel was just… there. No background on his existence whatsoever. The final showdown wasn’t nearly as epic. Marlene didn’t have as much character development. It was very bland. A lot more dialogue was put into the complete version that helped flesh it out. You should watch the original now to see what a big difference it is by comparison

I don't even mind the abstract symbolism because I think in this case it's pretty obvious what he was going for, the issue is that this subtext doesn't really works as character arc for Cloud. He changed Cloud's character so he could have a arc that didn't need to exist.

It's really difficult to follow the movie if you're not FF7 savvy, this movie is not made for FF fans or outsiders, you have to be a hardcore fan to understand what's going on. The worst thing is that the complete edition is so much better than the original. As you said, yes! FF7R took a LOT from AC. In fact, there's music and scenes put on the game that they took directly from the movie (a good example is, as you said, the final battle. It screams AC all over the place. Also, all the visions of the future that you see while destroying the whispers/arbiter are taken directly from AC). AC was really CGI impressive at the time it was released, specially Sephirot's hair. And square really really tried for MANY years, even back to the original KH secret ending, to merge movie scenes with battle. And after MANY years of trial and error with other FF, they nailed the combat feeling of remake.

i don't think you should skip 13 and do it after 15 because of the whole fabula nova chrystalis theme that's surrounding it. basically 15 is kinda a recycled final fantasy versus 13. granted it's not the greatest and you're not missing out on anything if you play 15 before 13 ultimately, but if doing 13 first and then do the research about the whole 15 development (wich has ties kingdom hearts in some ways too, bc nomura...) will let you appreciate 15 alot more. the reason FF7 R was so successful and well rounded pretty much grounded on the "failure" of 13 and "shortcomings" of 15 for the lack of better words. while i'm still not fond of the story changes i'm geniunly happe square got back to it's old form with and for final fantasy 7 remake

Watch the FF15 movie, it’s not that bad. I also recommended FF12 TZA, it’s not liked by all FF fans but it grew on me. The gambit system is really fun to experiment with and FF12 still have the best open world of all FF games.

I completely agree with your critique. I enjoyed the movie because I love FFVII so much, but as a stand-alone, it doesn't actually stand. You don't get the full understanding of the movie unless you have played/read/viewed all the FFVII compilation elements and done a little digging for loose ends. The wolf, for instance, is, I believe, a symbol of Cloud and how he feels alone (the lone wolf)... I think. If you read "On The Way To A Smile", you get the stories of how they got to that point in Advent Children. The GeoStigma is not contagious according to the lore. The movie was pure fan service, basically... which is fine by me. Anything that expands the lore of the FFVII world is awesome.

Tq for the reaction! 20:00 the water at the church that cure cloud and later denzel/rest of the children is actually Aerith's final limit break - great gospel. You hear that aerith said to cloud "let's go" after the water cure cloud (not sure in English what she said 'cause i watched in Japanese with eng sub). To add more, I think there's a scene where you also can see Tifa look at water droplet on the plane and said something like "you're here" (im not sure the exact word but she's referring to aerith by looking at the water droplet, she knows aerith helping them). from my understanding with the story, Aerith is actually constantly can communicate with cloud through lifestream. You know that cloud has exposed to Mako (a liquid form of lifestream), meanwhile Aerith's soul is in lifestream, all dead people will go to lifestream but Aerith able to maintain her consciousness because she is a Cetra. Zack consciousness probably brought by Aerith to help Cloud. That's why you see Cloud's soul communicating with aerith's soul throughout the story. Thank you again for posting this! Love your reaction. Yeah it's a bit confuse because they like to use symbolism and left it to viewer interpretation hahaha

An okay movie, at best, if we're talking characters and plot... Pretty good anime action movie though... Remnants: Essentially "ghosts" formed out of the strands of Lifestream that make up other people's perception of Sephiroth and that are held together by Sephiroth's will, as such they basically come across as caricatures of who Sephiroth was in life. By introducing Jenova cells (bodily/physical existence) to a Remnant (mental/spiritual existence), the physical and mental halves that make up a whole can act as a medium for Sephiroth to resurrect himself through again. Geostigma: Disease caused by exposure to Jenova cells resulting in the corruption of a person's inner Lifestream; when they die and return to the planet, their Lifestream will begin to infect the planet itself in return, allowing Sephiroth to claim it from the inside. (This corrupted Lifestream could also be seen when Sephiroth absorbed the Whispers in Remake.)

To the point of playing other games: I don't really see the point of playing X-2 later since if it'd done after X...that's it. There is nothing else to that world. XIII? Sure, play the first game and then head into XV since XIII-2 and XIII-3 should probably be done after each other. Anyway, will be waiting for that X playthrough regardless!

My fan theory is that Cloud was Patient Zero for the Stigma, because Sephiroth's dying act was to turn his Jenova cells into infectious bacteria. The three Remnants, I think, were leftover products of the Sephiroth project, created after his victories in the Wutai war. After he went nuts, the project was shelved and they were put into cryogenic sleep but eventually escaped.

Pretty interesting huh about how the last few ending fights in this match up with FFVII Remake. The three remnants who use a gun, fists, and sword are the three Harbinger ghosts you fight in Remake. Then they form together to make Bahamut who also in this film, gets summoned. Then you fight Sephiroth. I don't quite know the connection exactly, but I believe there is one from Advent Children to FFVII Remake.

It may not be the best movie but god there are some great moments in it. I love the theme of self-forgiveness and Cloud finally moving forward and being able to find happiness in his life after everything that has happened. it has some great action, music, and it still looks great even by todays standards. I personally believe that it was a story that needed to be told and that it has its place in the FFVII Compilation. The fight between Cloud and Sephiroth is one of my favorite fights in media and Cloud using Omnislash Version 5 is one of the coolest moments in any film for me. Add on to the fact that Sephiroth's last words to Cloud may very well have been a promise he kept in Remake and not just the dying words of a defeated villain is just so cool in my opinion. And by god that end scene will never not make me cry like a baby. It may not be the best movie and it certainly has its flaws like you mentioned, but it does a lot of things right that make it really special to me. Great video as always man!

The sound of ff7 shooting itself in the head infront of my eyes. "Dilly-dally shilly-shally" or what the hell ever. Nope done. The remake dug up its body and is parading around pretending to be ff7, but it's really kingdom wake me up when it's over hearts.
