I Watched The Cheetah Girls For The First Time 

hi everyone, i've just been reading the comments here and it looks like i've missed the mark on this one. i want to apologise to anyone i have let down who have been left disappointed by this video, no part of me ever wanted to upset anyone. i think having done these disney channel reaction videos for a few years now we have some preconceived expectations for them and i thought my remarks and jokes were just tongue and cheek, poking fun at the movies, in the same way we have done in previous videos, but absolutely understand and am taking on board the complaint that we probably didn't give these movies a fair chance. once again i want to say i'm sorry and extend a thank you to everyone who has shown support on this series over the years!

You had to be there. You had to be the 7 year old girl who blasted the Cheetah girls music with their friends and became OBSESSED with cheetah print because of these movies

I will say yeah it’s probably not aged the best but as a kid seeing 4 different kinds of girls on screen as friends was really cool - like they were all from different backgrounds, families, races etc and I always loved that

I understand that this movie may not have been for you, but think about the movie in the context of a black or brown girl who literally had NOTHING for them, and then "the cheetah girls" came along a franchise that was led by majority poc characters. That's why so many people rank it so highly and are still obsessed with it today. It was one of the only times poc girls (and boys) saw a bit of themselves on screen. I have litterally never met a black or brown girl that hasn't said that the cheetah girls was one of their favorite movie franchises. And it truly was revolutionary for DCOMs. It was the first disney channel movie musical so without its success we would have never gotten HSM, Camp Rock, Descendants, Lemonade Mouth, or any other musical disney channel puts out. It may not have been the best written or acted but it was all we had at the time.

Should have titled this video “grown men can’t comprehend simple dcom children’s movie”

him talking about the movies feels like when i was a little kid and boys used to make fun us girls for liking movies like this…it's kinda hurtful ngl fundamentally these movies arent about this big emotional plot. it's about pretty, fashionable friends becoming pop stars. and that was the dream of most 7 year olds back then

The mum in the first Cheetah Girls movie was absolutely in the right and it's bizarre that you didn't get that and thought she was just being jealous (?) She was concerned about her daughter entering a predatory music industry and is wary of the music producer, and is proven right later in the movie. I also think you were quite dismissive of Dorinda's backstory about being in foster care. I'm sure that plotline meant a lot to a lot of kids, and encouraged others to consider what it's like for people in very different circumstances than their own. Idk, it just seemed like you weren't really trying to pay attention to the movie, making a gag out of being disinterested, and then blamed it for not feeling invested. Idk if that's just the feeling I got from the edit though. I hope you don't take this criticism as hate, because I don't intend it as such at all. Also absolutely disagree with you that the songs from the first movie are bad. The second's songs were better yes but one had bops too, maybe you guys just aren't into R&B as much as pop music?

Guys, you keep complaining about there not being plot points while they are literally setting up the plot points and you just ignore them.

I'm sorry that you thought that watching the Cheetah girls was such an energy-draining experience. You just had to be an 8-year-old when they released the first one and became obsessed with cheetah print and singing and dancing the songs with your girlfriends. Many years after the second movie, I went to Barcelona, and I was SO happy to be in the same place where the movie took place.

As a cinephile, I lost respect for you in this video. Of course the Cheetah Girls are cringy and corny…Everyone knows it, everyone gets it. But it’s a franchise that has roots in early Disney Channel days and made large strides for cultural representation in kids films and means way more than the sheer lack of attention you gave it. I almost wish you would have just stayed away from the franchise if this was the energy you were going to give it. I understand you’re a blunt critic, but I always thought you had a fairly rational discernment and semi-appreciation for something with a legacy behind it. Your lack of any sort of baseline attention to any of it and non-intelligent “eye-rolling-only” commentary was honestly really disappointing to me. I clicked off of this video early and that is coming from someone who watched your entire 5 hour GLEE commentary. Really disappointed.

Speaking as someone who was 13 when the first cheetah girls movie came out: cheetah girls RAN. I definitely cringe when I watch it with my kiddos now, though.

The first one was okay and the third one was boring, but I will not stand for Cheetah Girls 2 slander. It was ironic. It seems crazy now but at the time there weren't any music-centric DCOMs/shows that had such a diverse cast. Everything good in HSM came from a Cheetah Girl trope.

Excuse you. The Cheetah Girls didn’t crawl. They STRUT! I didn’t watch these movies till high school, and as a late teen, they were still good films! 2 was soooooooo good! They gave each girl a talent, choreo/outfitting/lyricist/lead singer, to contribute to the band and during the montage they show that and you just pretend to DOZE OFF?? Cmon!😂 And for these girls, they’re all women of color. Galleria has a family but her dad’s a business man that travels often, Chanel is single parent, Dorinda is a foster child, and Aqua lives in New York ON HER OWN at high school age while her family’s in Texas. They’re inspirational girls. It’s good music. I’m STILL harboring the dream of one day visiting Barcelona❤

This movie is not your cup of tea, but IF you could stop WHINING for A MINUTE, maybe you could catch some information... at least the character names.🙄 I usually like it when you point out the silliness of the Teens/KidsMovies movies: and these 2 movies are full of silly lines and things that don't make sense... But here you can't even make jokes land BECAUSE you didn't pay attention to even a second of the movie!

Im glad that you're back and that you're healthy, but im really disappointed because you did a terrible job commentating on this video. You were goofing off a lot more in this video than in any other film you've ever done. Its fine to crack jokes and say how the writing is bad. Thats fine but talking through the most important parts of the film while the plot of the movie is being explained and explored is why you missed the whole first and second plots of the film and in the last film you were caught up in another show and was still missing the point of the final film. Why? Just why? Don't commentate on a film. Missed the point and the religious meaining in the hindu culture of it. It's basically disrespectful and just wrong. Again, I get it it's not that serious, but when you review an iconic movie and completely missed the plot and the significance of all three films, you basically just sat and watched a trilogy for 2 and half hours. I don't understand it.

pretty sure there's a difference between leopard and cheetah print, that being that leapord spots are more misshapen like little macaronis or letter "c" whereas cheetah fur is just spots and if I'm right... they're 100% wearing leopard print in a lot of this lol

Idk, usually I agree with your takes but I honestly think you both wrote the movies off before you even watched them. You criticised things for not making sense when you were talking over the introductions or explanations. Oh well, not every video can be a hit

You're totally allowed to not like a movie, but there's a difference between not liking something and not even giving the movie a chance. I'm sure making a 40-minute video takes a lot of work, but I'd love to see you revisit this in the future and pay a bit more attention, then make your critiques. It's possible you did pay attention and have just edited the video to make it look like you didn't for the sake of laughs, but it does come across as just crapping on a franchise a lot of young women in your audience have a connection to (myself included). I really appreciate that you're reading the comments and acknowledging this, though!

I do remember the cheetah girls and wondering why Raven wasn’t in the second one😅 Ok my memory is terrible, I FORGOT there was a third one because it doesn’t have a 3 😂😅

The first cheetah girls movie and the second one were amazing, the cheetah girls 2 soundtrack is so good; the party's just begun, strut, dance with me and step up were some of the best songs.... the third one wasn't that bad, it's just that Galleria went off to college cause her mom was basically like "after the competition in Barcelona, your going to college" and cause Raven wasn't really a member of the actual cheetah girls group; also there were fights behind the scenes. Also in that movie, chanel was becoming a diva, kinda like how galleria was in the first movie, but I did like that they went to India in that movie.

Yeh this wasn’t it, cheetah girls was ahead of its time. The plots of all the movies made sense, it was timed well, the dynamics where amazing, the SOUNDTRACK OMG, the character development and back story of all the characters, co produced by Whitney Houston!! Like it was peak cinema for my childhood

I'd wager a decent part of what makes the first movie feel the way it feels is that it's a book adaptation, so there may be more of an assumption that the audience knows the characters.

Saying the Cheetah Girls didn’t age well is…side eye. You are literally SOOO far from the target demographic. And to downplay the quality of what many POC and women see as one of the most influential and pivotal projects to ever come out of the Disney Cinematic Universe when there are White-Led, White-Targeted films from Disney that aged like milk is problematic to say the least. You’ve sat and picked apart every minor thing you could about this franchise and for what? This super critical “analysis” of one of the Disney Channels most important projects that was made primarily for young girls of color ages 9-14 as a white adult is…dense. Big side eye to you.

If you haven't reacted to Avalon High or either of the Twitches movies, I highly recommend them. I rewatched Avalon High about a year ago and still really enjoyed it, but not as much as when it first came out. I really struggled rewatching Twiches and Twiches 2. I liked those much better when they came out, but I cringed so hard, and I couldn't even make it through the second movie, which was a real shame because my twin and I really loved the Mowry twins.
