they don't develop Peeta a lot here. But he is literally one of my favourite character in the books. In later movies, they do his character some justice though.
@@BakumanLakuman well in the movies hes seen more as weak an fragile where as in the books hes more a quite master mind even tho one of his prominent trates is his kindness, he was always playing the game to make him and Katniss look good. Which even tho the movies are good they just didn't accurately develop it to the point of it making sense so for a first time watcher and for someone who's never read the books his character comes off as confusing.
When Peeta threw her the bread he was like 11? His mother is an asshole. She hit him for burning the bread which he did on purpose and then he risked more abuse by throwing her the bread. He legitimately has loved her since they were small children. He is the actual best.
I love Peeta. He is just a such a good person. He’s so nice and sweet. And he loves Katniss so much and accepts her for who she is. He’s better developed in the books. But the movies do better at developing him in the next movies, especially Catching Fire.
I get that it’s harder to be immersed in Peeta’s character if you watch the movies before knowing the story through the books. But people show so much annoyance toward him as if he’s done something horrible when he’s one of the nicest characters in the series. NGL I feel like after constantly saying you don’t care about a character every time they are mentioned, then at a point you just start hating them. Which I honestly never understand for people who watch this for the first time and make it out like it’s torture and complain about something every time he’s on screen. 🤷🏻♂️ Also that’ not Rue’s brother, they’re just from the same district lmao.
Not only that but all of his positives are ignored lol. Feeds katniss --> why did he throw it in the rain. Wins the publics approval and brings katniss into it with their romance drama --> ew why does he like her/ew why the romance. Katniss would literally be dead without him lol
They should have put the deleted scene in when she is with Rue in the tree. Rue tells her that the tracker Jacker venom couldn't have made her imagine Peeta was saving her. That's how Katniss knew he had been helping her all along. In this version of the movie, you don't see that
Peeta's father is a baker and Peeta used to help him. Peeta burned some of the bread on purpose because he knew his mother would tell him to throw the bread to the pigs even though he knew she would beat him for burning it. He threw the bread on the floor because his mother would hit him harder if she saw him going to Katniss. The books are from Katniss' point of view and she says that Peeta saved her, her mother and her sister's lives because that bread was the first thing they ate in days.
RIP Peetas leg 🙏🏼 Also at the end of the book, Haymitch & Cinna had Katniss wearing padded dresses because she’d lost so much weight (the games lasted 18 days) that the Capitol people wanted to surgically alter her, maybe that’s why her top moved funny? It’s cool if they incorporated it into the film. We book readers LOVE Peeta. And I think most of the film viewers do after a while. I can’t stand Gale. In Catching Fire is when is when it really becomes apparent that he’s not right for Katniss.
It seems nice on the surface that they get fed all these sumptuous foods before the games, but it’s really diabolical. Not only does it show that the capital starved the districts on purpose, but it also reflects a lamb being spoiled and fattened before it’s sacrificed.
I swear it’s been so long ago since the movie’s release. I was only in my junior year of high school when I went to watch the movie in theatres. Can’t wait for your reaction to Catching Fire next.
I'm waiting on the next film react just to see your opinion of him change. Peeta's the best. He's generous and sweet and doesn't fit in the traditional male roll which is a plus for me. He's the nurturer of the two. Katniss the protector. Is such a sweet flip in the cultural expectations over male and female roles.
I'm late to the party and you probably know this by now, but the reason why Haymitch is the way he is, well, is heartbreaking. He won the 50th Hunger Games. Which was a Quarter Quell, with 47 other tributes. He won by using the arena in a way he wasn't supposed to so he showed the capital up. In retaliation, the capital killed his family and the girl he loved. This is why he tells Katniss "They don't take these things lighttly". Also, he won 24 years ago. So that means he has been a mentor for 23 years. He had to watch 46 kids from his District die because they were small and weak due to malnutrition they had no chance of winning. Every year he has to come back with the knowledge that he failed. He has to look the families of those 46 kids in the eye year after year when he goes around the District. He has to live with the loathing of the people for "failing" as mentor. Hell, I don't even live in this world and just thinking about it makes me want to drink. However, when he sees that these two have spunk, they have courage, they have the muscle mass to actually have a chance, even if it is a small one, he cleans himself up and he starts mentoring them. President Snow says it himself. Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. For the first time, Haymitch has hope. And that helps him get over his fear of failing them. My humble opinion
Ok but like...this movie has like triple the amount of errors from the book compared to the the other 3 movies combined. Including how she got her pin in the 1st place. Unless you meant best as a whole for the series then yeah i agree.
They put the districts against each other. No one is allowed to go to other districts because the last rebellion that happened the districts were United.
If you haven't recorded a Catching Fire reaction yet, I would, if I may, suggest watching the IMAX version of that movie. There's a fun little thing the movie does with the format.
For an aspiring actress, you show remarkably little appreciation for nuance and reading between the lines. Peeta literally gives no reason to dislike him and several good reasons to like him. First and foremost, how at every turn he tries to keep Katniss safe rather than himself.
To be fair, they did Peetas character dirty in the first film. I understand that when they make books into movie, there has to be sacrifices but they really did it to one of the main characters, and someone who comes to be so important to Katniss to the point where he's her number 1 for emotional/mental support. I was still team Peeta in the films but book Peeta is just amazing. It's a shame that they did this to him in the first one, although it may have been so people get more invested in the love triangle? If they'd have stayed true to the books there'd most likely be 0 team Gales 😂

Gale is a good guy in a totalitarian state. Peeta is a good guy drafted into a death match. Katniss is a teenage girl in emotional hell and in the same death match. I don't get why folks hate on any of them. Gale is reacting like a guy might if a girl he loved kept going back and forth, while also being pulled away from him by extreme danger. Peeta reacts how someone who is similarly situated but gets to be with her in the danger probably would. And Katniss literally doesn't have time to unravel her feelings because of the whole being in hell thing. Oh and there all teenagers, and well don't we all wish the teen version of ourselves could run our current lives?🤷
It's kind of funny hearing the idealistic points of view on choices people are making in the movie, both playing the game and everyone in the districts. And Peeta is amazing. Excellent character, doing what he needs for what his role is.
The black guy who killed the girl from District 2 was not Rue's brother, but him and Rue were both from District 11 and he tried to protect her and appreciated that Katness did.

@@yasminareacts im a binge watcher, so I am legit already on the mockingjay reaction but I understand. They really don't highlight his strengths alot. I didn't notice most things about him until a rewatch of the entire series.
Every time I see the blue butterfly I flinch. But not because of this movie. Because of Jojo Rabbit. That movie traumatized be about blue butterflies. So rare to have someone root for Gale. Most people do not like him. I was pretty neutral about him in the first movie.
Great reaction, I love this series, Peeta isn't developed well here but I dont find him unlikable, plusnit did show he was a good person by him giving Katniss bread when he wasn't supposed to, to me these movies get better and better
I loved the books. I thought the movies held up pretty well. In my experience that doesn't happen often. I am still heartbroken after the Percy Jackson and Eragon movie failures.

I'm honestly fine with Peta's character, they've given me no reason to hate nor like him so I don't really have a general opinion on weather I like the character or not.
Effie is more vibrant cause she has to usher 2 children to be ultimately murdered shes also from the capital they are all opulent. It shows the classism between the districts. Also they keep the age limit low cause what's more tragic and scary to losing a child that keeps people in line.

I read the author was inspired by Ancient Rome's gladiator games for the Hunger Games. BTW the mentors are the past winners and district 12 only had one - Haymitch.
in the first movie I wasn’t but after the second movie I started to like him and I’m sure I’ll like him more once I watch the other hunger games movies
The films are from books written to teach middle school students about politics and war. You can really tell because the publisher is Scholastic Books. No "franchise" was expected.

I loved your reaction! The sadness of Rue’s death, the badass Thresh avenging Rue, honoring Rue and the sadness of his death by Mutts! Btw the love story between Katniss and Peeta is wrong because their chemistry is bad… But Katniss and Gale are the right chemistry also if Gale took Peeta’s place, Katniss and Gale would have been the greatest power couple in the hunger games!
No not at all. And it was not a "they" the author wrote them for Scholastic Books to teach about war. The books being picked up for movies was a surprise.

In this movie I’ll stick to as to not spoil for those to get further he announced his love for her to get her favor, he joined the careers to protect her, and he was stabbed because he told her to run away after she cut down the wasp nest and was stung. He spent his whole time there worried about her. Who carried him? They helped each other. No one complains Rue protected her for 2 days. Had that girl stayed in the trees instead of help her she may have survived. And that’s not a bad thing. Point is people helped people but it’s only an issue when it’s him. That’s weird.
@@opinionladyy ................... Ok..... Now regarding the ENTIRE franchise, he was trash. Even his own mother didn't have faith in him. Rue died off. And was one of the youngest. Peeta throughout the entire franchise just kept getting saved and was told to be protected. Trash tier. Right next to cheetahs.
