@@aly1541 It's a 15 book series, and this movie only "covers" the first three books. (Ignoring the fact that the movie is essentially a completely different story, just with the same characters and setting.) To just tell you how it ends would mean skipping all the parts that would help you understand the ending. 😅 But to give you a quick rundown of how Kludd and the Pure Ones and all that comes to an end. (Spoilers, I guess) The cult that was kidnapping and brainwashing owlets in the first book ends up getting conquered by and absorbed into the Pure Ones. The Pure Ones are eventually defeated after many, many, MANY battles, and multiple leadership changes. (The old Pure One leader -> Kludd/Metal Beak -> Nyra) Kludd is eventually killed by Twilight. (Gruesomely, might I add) Nyra dies after being stabbed during battle and falling into the sea.

since they aren’t making a second movie, imma spoil the books a bit LOL. in the books, kludd is wearing a helmet when he falls into the flames. he lives, but the helmet is melted onto him forever, and he is the next metal beak. he and nyra are now mates, and they become the antagonists for most of the remainder of the series. ain’t that crazy.
@ggrarl
@ggrarl 3 дня назад
@@mariagalvez2003 you're confusing the books with the movie. Kludd is Metal Beak in the books, although we don't find out until book 3. Nyra recruited him. He fought the previous leader of the Pure Ones for leadership (and Nyra). Kludd won at the cost of an eye and his beak. A blacksmith made him a beak and helmet, thus the name Metal Beak. In book 3, Soren shoves a burning branch into the helmet, causing it to slightly melt, but Kludd plunges into a pond. He recovers and leads a war against the Guardians, and later St. Aggie's. It all comes to a head in book 6.

Wait a second, but the Wolves of the Beyond are clearly either in the northern parts of Eurasia or Alaska, and the Distant Blue is in the other place, so how do the Owls live in Australia if the Sea of Ga'Hoole has to be no bigger than the Hudson Bay??? @@r-giireactions2235 the owls only have Australian or Kiwi accents because the special effects studio is in Australia, so all the actors are from the surrounding area. The books, while clearly taking place on Earth, are in a fantasy setting with owl species living together that you wouldn't find in the wild. I mean, you can find a barn owl in Aus, but not the pygmy, the burrowing, or the great grey. The books also had dire wolves, polar bears, snow leopards, puffins, seagulls, crows, vultures, flying snakes, and several other animals.

Believe it or not, Lakia. This movie is based on a series of books of the very same name for elementary kids and I recall seeing one of those in person but never read it. My first time seeing this was cut short when my mom saw it as too dark for me. Years later, when I finally had the chance, I was amazed of how this one came to be. Like you mentioned, the animation was stunning that every detail is so refined that they look so real. When you noticed that it was directed by Zach Synder, imagine my surprise when I found that out and after taking a closer look, it was definitely his work since he’s known for making dramatic slow-mo scenes. So much so that one scene in a episode of the Animaniacs reboot made a joke about it for doing a slow-mo shot themselves. On a personal note, this is the one movie where I appreciated the beauty and the grace of an owl, especially barn owls like Soren and his family. It’s also interesting that they chose this kind of owl as an imperial force since , their scientific name, are found everywhere from here to Australia. Speaking of which, that’s exactly what they are: Australians, not British as you thought. In fact, they were hints of that with the Tasmanian Devil, the creature that attacked both Soren and Kludd and the Echidna, the spiny guide who showed them the way to the tree. Lastly, it is very fitting that Owl City sang the theme song, hence the name and like you, I too added this to my playlist for Movie Soundtracks. 😁

This movie changed ALOT from the books, probably mostly due to time constraints and lack of sequels. It's an amazing film on its own and did a fantastic job of depicting the tree and following the basic plot. However, if you're interested, here's the changes I noticed: - Kludd did not get kidnapped; he pushed Sorren out of the nest one night in hopes he'd die on the ground (but Saint Aggies snatched him). This was part of his initiation into the Pure Ones. He later killed his parents and gave them Eglentine. - The Pure Ones and the Owls of Saint Aggies are two different evil groups. The Aggies owls join the Gaurdians in their war against the Pure Ones later on. - Sorren and Gylfie are stuck at Saint Aggies for months, learning to fly from Grimble and gathering information. To avoid moon blinking but still get enough sleep; the canyon doesn't have enough open space to have everyone under the moon at once, so they march the owlets to change position every hour. They sleep while under a columns shadow and tell each other stories about the Gaurdians to stay awake when they're under the moons' gaze. - Digger is not a goofy comic relief character. He's described as philosophical, always digging for answers or deeper meanings. When he speaks, owls listen. He also refuses to fly when they first meet because he's looking for his parents. Jatt and Jutt (the Aggies owls that stole Sorren) killed and ate his brother while Digger escaped. He doesn't join them on their journey to Ga'Hoole until he learns his parents died, too. - The Journey itself is much longer, lots of cut events. Most memorable was when one of them got injured by a crow mob and they decided to rest by this beautiful lake until they healed. They slowly grew complacent and didn't want to leave. Turns out the lake is called Mirror Lake and enchanted them to be obsessed with themselves and boast about their own beauty while staring into the lake. Mrs. P realizes the danger and forces them to leave, one of the few times she gets angry with them. - The flight over the sea to the tree is much worse. They get lost in the snow storm and fly past the tree. They land in the Northern Kingdoms and are hosted by a family of puffins. When the storm clears they fly back south to the tree. - Ezylryb's depiction is close to accurate. However, he does not fight. He took a vow to never fight again after the last war he was in. Before he came to the tree he fought for the Kielian League against the League of Ice Talons. His brother betrayed him, the love of his life died, and he lost several talons. He joined the Glauxian Brothers and became a famous author. They convinced him to move to the tree to teach. - The Band (Sorren, Gylfie, Digger, and Twilight) spend a great deal of time learning, going to classes in groups (called Chaws) with other owls, and getting their certification as Gaurdians. Lots of cut events before they fight the Pure ones, including Ezylryb going missing and being captured. He gets stuck in a Devils Triangle of Flecks that confuse his sense of direction, almost like moonblinking. Metal Beak wants his vast knowledge and The Band go to rescue him. - After Ezylryb is rescued, The Band, Otulissa, and two others (This group is called The Chaw of Chaws) are sent to Saint Aggies to spy because there was rumor that the Pure Ones were infiltrating Saint Aggies to steal their huge supply of Flecks. They discovered the Pure Ones were gathering in mass to attack the tree and go back to warn them and prepare for war. The Gaurdians manage to rebuff the Pure Ones by multiple tactics, safeguards, and with allies from other Kingdoms. - There is no interspecies attraction. Sorren does not like Otulissa. She is a spotted owl, he is a barn owl. EVERYONE (Sorren included) finds her annoying; teachers pet, history obsessed, rule follower. She goes through a lot of characters development: her teacher dies during the Pure Ones attack on the tree, driving her to become obsessed with invading the Pure Ones for revenge, during this time she falls in love with a pacifist; a healer and prince of an ancient dynasty, Cleve. I still chuckle when I remember how she stretched at him during a silent meditation flight when she learned he doesn't believe in war. They become mates later on. - The turn feather is not Allomere, who I don't remember existing in the books, but an owl named Dewlap, a ryb at the tree. She's repeatedly tries to ban certain books/subjects, enjoys giving harsh punishments to students, is obsessed with the welfare of the tree itself, and smuggles information to the Pure Ones. After the invasion she has a nervous breakdown, not being able to come to terms with Strix Struma's death. She was sent to the Glauxian Sisters Retreat to live out her shattered life. - Eglentine was not taken to Saint Aggies, she was taken by the Pure Ones to a castle stronghold. She and other owlets were forced to sleep in the crypts with the bones of Others (humans), this made them loose their identities, similar to moon blinking. At some point Saint Aggies invaded and stole the owlets. The Pure Ones caught up to them and the battle resulted in the owlets being dropped from the sky, known as The Great Downing. Digger and Twilight rescued many of them including Eglentine on a search-and-rescue Chaw. Her trace was broken by chance when she looked at the moon through a peice of glass being sold by Trader Mags and her apprentice Bubbles, who come to the tree a few times a year to sell her wares. - There was no Metal Beak before Kludd. He and Nyra conspire and he challenges the previous High Tyto to a duel, killing him but getting his scarred face. Kludd becomes known as Metal Beak because he starts wearing the mask to cover his face and protect his brain against Flecks. The final showdown between Metal Beak (Kludd) and the Gaurdians comes after the invasion of the tree. The Pure Ones retreat to the canyons (they stole from Saint Aggies) and the Gaurdians team up with the Saint Aggies owls to invade the Pure Ones. During the invasion Kludd takes Digger prisoner and forces Sorren to come alone. Sorren and Kludd fight, but it's Twilight who kills Kludd, sparing Sorren from killing his own brother. -There's also a lot of characters cut, including: -Skench and Sproon, the leaders of Saint Aggies, who kidnapped and moonblinked owlets because they weren't very smart and needed to feel superior. When the Pures Ones invaded the canyons, they sought refuge with the Gaurdians and then tried to betray them to Metal Beak. Skench was killed by Sorren in the attempt and Sproon was killed by Martin. -Hortense, another moonblinked pretender who smuggles stolen eggs away from Saint Aggies to return the their parents. Zan and Streak, a bald eagle couple who help Hortense and later help Sorren and the gang kill Jatt and Jutt. Streak is the one who informs Digger of his parents passing. -Ruby and Martin are the two other characters in the Chaw of Chaws who go with Otulissa and The Band to Saint Aggies as spies. Ruby was a short eared owl, Martin a northern saw-whet (tiny like Gylfie). -Strix Struma was the navigation ryb, Otulissa's teacher, who is killed by Nyra during the invasion of the tree. Nyra tore her wings off and dropped her into the sea. Otulissa was right next to her and slashed Nyra's face in retaliation (leaving a scar on her perfect face that is very important to future book events). There are 15 books, so you're absolutely correct in saying this would make a good show. I left out a ton, trying to keep it within the events of the movie, which is like the first six books smashed together. I still had to leave out a lot of events, but I hope this was interesting at least :)

Owls can't digest the bones and fur of their pray, so it gets separated from the meat (which is passed normally) and into the gizzard where it is packed into a pellet that the owl hacks up like a hairball. One liberty this movie did take, probably for the sake of character expression, is that owls also can't move their eyes; their eyes are too big to move around in their sockets, that's why they can move their heads the way they do.

Lyze of Keel is a screech owl, while all the "Pure Ones" are varieties of Tyto (barn owls.) Barn owls are a larger sort, while Screech owls are smaller by comparison, hence why Lyze is so small compared to Metal Beak. Essentially, Pure Ones are just owl fascists. In the books, it goes more in-depth. They only see Barn Owls specifically as the PUREST ones, while other sorts of Tyto are seen as lesser tiers.
@CeaselessEnemy
@CeaselessEnemy День назад
Also, another interesting thing- the Pure Ones were a different faction from St. Aggies. St. Aggies was a cult, and a secondary big bad, while the main big bad were the Pure Ones with an in-depth commentary on fascism and how it can infect those like Kludd at a shockingly young age, when gone unchecked. Lemme tell you what, Kludd is COLD. When he becomes metal beak, someone nurses him to health, and he kills them because he views them as a lesser owl. Mind you, he started this mindset when he couldn't fly yet. When he was a TEENAGER. Which is the prime demographic to be groomed into a fascist mindset, if they already have questionable morals to work off of. I think the book series is so much more fleshed out than the movie, but I wish the movie had had a chance to have sequels. I like to think it would have tried connecting to the book plot in a much different way.

I watched this when it came out and I always loved it. I had ADHD and as a kid I couldn’t sit down and relax as much so whenever my dad put it on I didn’t pay much attention to it but I did love it. Also there’s a book series this movie was based off of and sadly this movie didn’t get enough views back then for any development for the movie series. Most of the fans of the book didn’t like the movie (many changes ect…) so that also had a huge part in no continuation.. Sadness.. I know… 😢

Girl, I literally watched this movie so many times, and only now at 21 years old am I realizing that it is practically a movie about a rejected small town boy, Claude (the bad one), being recruited into a white supremacy gang lol. Whereas Sorren (the good one) is like breaking boundaries out here for the greater good.

So, a few fun facts about the books this movie was adapted from: (Book Spoilers Ahead) 1) The books are SO much darker. The owls who kidnap the owlets and force them to work (not the Pure Ones) are a straight up cult. They don't just kidnap owlets, but also steal eggs from their nests. One of the adults in charge of "looking after" the owlets engages in cannibalism of said owlets, and eggs. It's only spoken about, never described, but... Jesus. Direct moonblinking is a punishment for owlets who prove to be difficult. Before that, they use indirect moonblinking and force the owlets to march in place while saying their names over and over. This generally gives the wanted effect of "brainwashing" the owlets, as it makes their names meaningless and muddles up their brains, like a fog. Direct moonblinking can destroy their minds entirely. 2) Soren and Gylfie (especially Soren) are a lot younger in the first book than what is shown in the movie, and consequently, they are trapped by the cult for longer. Soren is still a fledgling (meaning he still has his baby feathers, not flight feathers) at the start of the book. Which means that, for the first half of the book, it's actually a waiting game of survival, as Gylfie and Soren need their flight feathers to grow in first before they can even think of escaping. 3) Moving away from the cult to the one you actually know about. The Pure Ones aren't mentioned in the first book. (That I can remember) Rather than an enslavement cult, like St. Aggies (the cult Soren is in) they're a fascist cult. 4) Kludd is cruel from the start, and Mrs. P points out that he's a bad egg, without realizing to what extent. It isn't until a later book that it's revealed that Kludd PUSHED Soren out of the nest. He did so because it was an initiation test to get into the Pure Ones. The goal was to murder his baby brother. He then later has Eglantine kidnapped into the Pure Ones, after they have merged with St. Aggies. 5) Soren never sees his parents [alive] again. He encounters their ghosts in a much later book, but they die before he could truly reunite with them. 6) The world is STRONGLY implied to be a post-apocalyptic version of OUR world. A world where humans have died out and owls (along with some other animals) have taken over as the dominant species. They find human objects and treat them like ancient artifacts from a long lost civilization. This is all just off the top of my head, years after actually reading the books. The story acts like a great fantasy-adventure book, but it's got some crazy dark vibes and story beats going on that really test the "child-friendly" genre. Like, had these owls been HUMAN? No way would it be a series for kids. Least of all a third grader like I was, when I first started reading them. 😅

If you liked the movie, i really recommend reading at least the first 3-4 books from Kathryn Lasky (Guardians of Ga’hoole) which the movie was an adaptation from. The movie kinda took diffrent plotlines from the books and mashed them together which was still a good story and the animations were crazy good, but it still doesnt hold up to the books for me, with how the story plots were mixed and some of the caracters where a bit of. A bit of info on the books further down SPOILER: in the books, the moonblink place and the ”pure tytos” with Nyra and the masked leader are two diffrent enemy’s. In the movie kludd is trashy but still feels like he was not to bad and was influenced a lot by Nyra and the tytos views and power, but in the books? Ha well he’s bad, for one he pushed Soren out the nest with the intend that he’ll die on the ground not being able to fly, as well as try to kill the snake nest cleaner bec she saw him push Soren. He’s also a lot more involved with the tytos then you think but in the begining the ”pure tytos” are more like a hiding, lingering threat with the moonblink place seeming like a bigger threat. Also you do get a big training ark in the books and Ezylryb is a bit more snarky and cold but you still like him or get to like him once you get to know him. As well as the story and history of the owl being more fleshed out of course. Also BIG SPOILER now, in the books, kludd meet Nyra pretty much on one of his first flight, Nyra says in the books she saw the pure evil in him right away. Later on kludd becomes the leader of the ”pure tytos” by killing the former leader and the scene were he ”dies in the flames” hes wearing that mask in the books which is then melted into his face. He is able to survive by fly/falling into water where an owl, whos like a pilgrim/priest saves him and takes care of him. While hes doing that Kludd is just disgusted by the fact that the stinking non tyto owl saved him and is close to him. Kludd of course does more that just go to show hes just a disgusting piece of evil.

🦉 When you mention Warner Brothers Animation to anyone, the first thing that usually pops into their head is the LEGO franchise. Over the years, the company has also released a handful of good individual movies like this as well. "Happy Feet," (2006), "The Ant Bully" (2006), "Storks" (2016) and "Smallfoot" (2018) are all also well worth checking out. 😉👍
