Thought this was buzzfeed but overall I like his neutral position on this. I’m vegan and it’s the way to go if you want to feel good and at your best. But if you can’t commit then add more veggies to balance out meat and enjoy your life

I hate it when people automatically associate being vegan with eating healthy. Veganism means you don't eat animal products, not that you eat healthy. You can have diet made entirely up of Oreos, french fries, and white bread and still be vegan.

I just don't like diets in general. They never work in the long term, and I don't know why so many people still don't understand that. You can painfully restrict yourself for 22 days and lose some weight, but you'll almost for sure gain it all back and possibly then some. Healthy lifestyle changes are the way to go. Gradually change the way you eat, and the weight will naturally come off and stay off over time.

The thing is, diet (meal plan) is a must. These so called diets from celebs are merely variation of choosing which starter diet methods you might be interested to start & in the long run you will find what's best for you. The best diet is IMHO to eat whatever you want with consideration of 'how many bites/spoons/pieces can I consume this'

True, but not really. The end goal of the good diets are to change the lifestyle. Stuff like atkins where you practically go keto for the first 1-2 phases and then slowly introduce carbs back into your diet untill a certain point that you stay with practically forever. Then theres keto where you diet at first and then change your macros when you've reached your goal weight. Just 2 of the most talked about diets right now you know.

I tried the protein diet and I lost 15 pounds the first ten days (eating only chicken, turkey, tuna, and porc without quantity limits). Then you alternate meat and vegetables. i lost 110 pounds in ten months and I never stopped getting drunk on beers one day a week with my friends. Carbs are the real culprits when it comes to get fat.

If you're talking about something like The Dukan Diet, get back to us when you've gained it all back, as most people on a protein diet do. Unless their heart or liver gives up first of course. Whole food plant based diet/way of eating (with no calorie restriction) has been proven to be the best way of losing weight and keeping it off long term.

I went on a diet for 2 weeks, it was easy and I felt great. Sadly, I went on a cheat day and that turned to a week, then 2 weeks... During the 2 weeks, I've tried to restart my diet but it was so much harder to resist the delicious foods in front of me. Today I decided to start my diet again. I hope it'll work out.

These diets are typically about "low calories" but foods high in volume & nutritious. Meats not bad & vegan diet isn't bad either...any diet can work. I hate when people say "Vegan is the best way to be healthier"....its not. No particular diet/lifestyle is better; if it still consists of healthy, nutritious, adequate calories.

Johnnythefirst you don't have to get the book you could just go online and order prepared little bowls that all you have to do is heat up and eat. But it is really expensive.

Try the KETO diet... you can have pizza with normal cheese and meats ( you just have to substitute the flour, there are plenty of recipes here on youtube), you can have any kind of meat (all fatty, no those boring tasteless chicken breasts) plus you can have a bunch of different deserts as well. And the best of that, is you can lose a bunch of fat ( not muscle) and feel great ! give it a go for 3 weeks like that. and let us know

Whenever you can go vegan without starving or being grossed out, do it. Plenty of dishes out there dont need meat or dairy to be perfect. But if you want a hotdog, eat a hotdog, just not the whole bag in one sitting or even in in one month.

I just want to point out that if you eat a plant based diet with 0 processed food ( tahini and other pastes are ok as long as they are 100%) you do not have to count calories at all. I was eating all day long, because I was always hungry at first and I ate huge amounts of fruits and veggies, rice quinoa etc. I lost weight so fast it was inbelievable. This is not a diet, this is a lifestyle. I do cheat on weekends and I feel amazing (I actually feel not great after junk food) !!

Before and after pictures look the same. I'm glad you felt better. You don't have to be 100% vegan. You just have to mostly whole foods plant-based. Eat more plants than anything else. 💕💕💕

I would advocate, that this is actually what would work for the vast majority of people. I don't think that going cold turkey would work for most people as a lifestyle. Meat is very important to many people. That being said, finding legit, delicious and healthy vegetarian and vegan recipes would benefit a lot of people. There is no reason why you should be eating meat, or animal products for every meal of every day. Most people I've talked to who have slowly found recipes they genuinely love AND that are affordable and easy to cool, have had a good transition. I've noticed a couple I'm friends with got the "thug cook book" which is essentially a hilarious vegan cookbook with legit good recipes. I've noticed that since they've started rotating in these recipes, they've both have lost a fair amount of weight. My buddy works out every day, but he's a big boy, and even after building his own home gym, and running each and everyday rain or shine, he couldn't drop the weight. After going primarily vegetarian slowly over about 3 years, more due to trying to save money than anything, I've noticed they've lost that weight that working out just couldn't touch.

I go vegan every year for several months. Food is actually ten times cheaper. But in the beginning, I was always hungry but after a few minor adjustments never again. Lastly, taking sugar out my diet for the first couple weeks... Lawd, I was angry and wanted to fight everybody. Like everybody.

15lbs of fat = 52,500 calories. 52,500 calories divided by 22 days = 2,386 calorie deficit per day Number of calories I burn each day at 210lbs, with roughly an hour and a half of vigorous exercise 6 days a week: 3,424 3,424 calories - 2376 calories = 1,038 calories per day assuming he already exercises like a seasoned gym rat His example of an unusually tiny meal: 220 calories Assuming the average meal was about 1.5 times that size, average meal = 330 calories 1038 total daily calories / 330 calorie meals = roughly 3.15 meals per day Number of calories consumed by a 45 year old completely sedentary 4'9 woman weighing 90lbs to maintain weight: 1,143 So if he, a large man, were to eat less calories per day than one of the smallest middle aged woman you've ever seen in your life all while maintaining the exercise habits of a dedicated male gym rat (with no hindrance from the fatigue of starvation), he would be able to lose 15lbs of fat in 22 days. People going vegan works I lost 15 lb but it took me three months I didn’t count calories or anything I just ate when I was hungry but made sure it was vegan and most of the time something I cook.

Amazing effort and I commend you for it! The feelings of being tired and starving are just a signs that you weren't eating enough. Eating potatoes, rice, and other grains are an essential part of a normal way of eating. Watch Earthlings, Lucent, Land of Hope and Glory. We have diminished these beautiful creatures -- the pigs, cows and the chickens -- to a number, to an item. I wish that you had researched the ethical side of the question. Being vegan is much more than a diet. It's a choice to live a compassionate life. Being vegan is admitting the basic rights of the other sentient beings. Please go vegan, but don't refer to it as a diet, it's a state of mind, living a life causing the least amount of harm possible.

You don't need to go vegan to lose weight, but it is a moral choice. And you don't want to focus on losing weight, you want to focus on losing fat. Because a person who constantly starves themselves will lose weight but mainly trough muscle rather than fat. It's easier said than done but you mainly need to eat less than usual, find food that you actually enjoy and is healthier, eat protein, fat, carbs, and drink lots of water ( unless you want to try the ketogenic diet, which is no carbs, but that's a tuff one). And try to hit the gym to retain and grow muscle. Don't lose weight too fast or risk in having excess skin. Lose 2-3 pounds a week. In the end it should be seen as a lifestyle choice. Because when you diet and reach your desired weight and stop your diet your probably just gonna gain all the weight back. So you need to enjoy your food so you can eat it indefinitely, and maintain the body you want

Torturing yourself isn’t gonna get you anywhere. Temporary results are not real results. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be gross, you just have to make it part of your every day life and stop calling it a diet. There are so many amazing healthy recipes out there.

in that amount of time what you will lose MOSTLY will come from water weight. And just alittle bit of fat. Now guys, the downside of this diet are you don't get a good amount of Creatine for your body. Second, if you don't include moderate Healthy fat in your diet, it's not a good option. Our body need Healthy fat man. And then maybe you can get in the lack of protein situation. But you can eat some plant base protein like soy to avoid that. and MAYBE a lack of omega-3 and omega-6 since in this diet you can't eat some fats (as i hear bout that) The solution ? Change your LIFESTYLE, not going to a 'diet' for certain amount of days because when you "off" the diet, you might go back to your "before diet" place. Peace

It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat, 15x3500/22=2386, which means you'd have to be in a caloric deficit of 2400 calories a day to lose this much. Don't expect this to work so fast, there are no shortcuts.

I changed my eating Habits from random to more and more aware three years ago. I started to learn how to Cook and i tried the Same dishes with different ingredients. Slowly i got there myself that eating way more vegetables and less meat can be delicious, good for you and easy. Now I try to eat meat once or twice a week - which makes me try Out different vegetables and recipes and seasonal vegetables i Had never tried before. The meat I do eat is a treat for me. I make deer or duck or maybe just plain old meatballs - and they still Taste delicious but now I appreciate them and i really Taste them. I'm Not Just mindlessly swallowing stuff Like a rubbish bin - and i Like it. I was never over weight but I do feel fitter now

something wrong there fella. I make home made chips about 2-3 times a week. Very little oil ((none mostly)). You'd have to post a food diary on a vegan website if you want advice xxx

Solange When I first when vegan, I lost 10-15 pounds eating very healthy. Then, chronic health stuff came up, I started eating less healthier, and although I’m still seeing if I have a thyroid issue, I ate incredibly unhealthy and gained 50 pounds while still being vegan. It all depends on what will work for your body. And you shouldn’t try to eat 30 bananas a day like certain somebodies recommend hahah

In 6 months I did not loose any weight and felt constantly tiered and bloated, but still believe vegan gurus. Then my sleep cycle go crazy and I actually start to gain wait, because I started eat at night, to make myself to sleep. At this point I quit and not recommend to go vegan more then few days to anyone.

You lost mostly water and felt bad because you were depleted in electrolytes, sodium chloride most likely but definitely potassium and magnesium. Likely you needed iodine (sea kelp) zinc and omega 3, 7 and 9. Can talk about you iron and vitamin deficiencies another day. Cheese is a good source for calcium, nutritional yeast for B vitamins. Avoid all sugars, fruits and high glycemic carbohydrates, which includes all grains, no exceptions! For a better sustainable lifestyle try intermittent fasting and work towards a keto lifestyle. The benifits are unbelievable but again watch those electrolytes particularly in the first few weeks! Good lunch.

I don't really see the point in turning plant-based eating into some kind of glorified crash diet. Just eat less meat, dairy and eggs and more veg and fruit. Problem solved, permanently, not just for a month. Have your bacon once a week, have some chicken here or there, but eat 90% plantbased and you get the same result more permanently. I think getting people onto veganism for quick, temporary results will just make them not come back.

true. it's hard to be vegan all the way if people around you are meaty eaters. so i started to watch some gross things to make m stay away from meat but sometimes when you feel really hungry. don't resist. it's okay we're only humans.

You lost weight because you were in a calorie deficit. Initially, a lot of that weight loss will be water, perhaps 7 pounds or so. Also, quite a bit in this instance will be muscle loss, since there was no indication of any resistance training. Higher protein diets lead to more muscle retention and more fat loss. You don't have to eliminate meat/carbs/dairy/fat to lose weight, but increasing your whole food/vegetable, and protein intake while reducing calories will give the best results.

The most i could do is incorporate veggies with my meal and lessen ny carbs...i dont think i could go vegan unless someone will cook for me or me finding restau where i could buy delicious meals that will prevent me from going nuts coz of lack of meat...i loooooove meat...cant live without it....psychologically

I did all the diet gimmicks and all the diet pills nothing worked for me. I'm 33 I have a hormone imbalance I've had 3 babies back to back i loose i gained and it's hard to do my old extreme workouts after 3 c sections. I've lost 50lbs on watching what foods i eat and portion sizes. Women who cut out carbs can sometimes hurt their body more to cause them to gain cuz your body will feed off of sugars from fruit etc. I do not do fried food or sweets or junk food. I love salads I do not eat much meat but that is my taste but I make sure I do a high protein meal or snack during day to keep energy and I do small meals n snacks n alot of water.
