I've been to the northernmost Munro - Ben Hope, the Mull of Galloway with an expert friend who could point out all the birdies, and Ardnamurchan years ago.
Always well put together your videos, The drone footage, the driving in car, And the fantastic voice-overs, The information and history, bloody brilliant, Ruth, 👍 Who needs 📺 when great things like this is on RU-vid,
I love your videos, Ruth! I really enjoy Scotland’s remote places too! My wife & I lived in Scotland from 2006-2010, and did a ton of touring. But places we never got to, you’ve allowed us to visit! Like Raasay, off Skye! And now, Ardnamurchan! I always wanted to get there, but never succeeded. So, thanks SO MUCH. I love your pace, and manner of speaking!
Ruth! We can’t believe it, we’ve just got back from Ardnamurchan only yesterday after a 3 week holiday…….we stayed at Greenwood Retreat only a short drive from the distillery. ….. your video was brilliant…… we’ve followed your channel for a while now because of our love for Scotland (we live in Lancashire)….. we actually watched your latest video before this one while we were away!…. We spent many hours at Ben Hiant and walked the path to the beach….. the ice-cream and sausage rolls at the Salen Jetty shop were beyond amazing….. the timing of your video is uncanny…….thanks for showing this beautiful area we now love……John my husband is currently joining your Patreon while I’m messaging you……. Thanks for your lovely channel …… Jan and John xx❤xx
Oh wow, what a coincidence! It sounds like you had an amazing time there. I’ll need to try that ice cream if I go back again! Thank you very much for joining the Patreon, I hope you enjoy the extra content on there! ❤️
@@ruthaisling I’m sure we will thank you….. we’re really enjoying your channel and you’re very inspiring and so helpful with details about travelling around Scotland…….we love the way you go to bakeries etc because we do exactly the same!…..we really felt for you when you were sick on the ferry crossing and bit by the dog …… thanks for all you do xx❤xx
Ms Aisling that was an absolute pleasure to watch. I particularly enjoyed meeting the couple you visited and the distillery tour. I love professionalism in whatever field it is exhibited. If one is lucky enough as perhaps few are to do a job or live a life you love it behoves a gentleman or gentle lady to do it well. If I may be so forward Ruth you are doing splendidly. With thanks.
@@ruthaisling Dear Ms Aisling I had recommended your vlog to one of my oldest friends who had toured Scotland, all of it! in his Dutch friend's campervan. There was a similarity of adventure. He offered me a Roland for my Oliver and linked me to a canal vlogger. The mindful navigator, I recommend it. Nothing happens but paradoxically everything does. Both you and her live a life I could not live. I am glad somebody does live it. I am a city boy who once housed hundreds whilst working for Shelter. I don't envy, I have no reason to, I too was a damnably good professional. I may take something from your travels, it's called joy. For which my thanks Ruth. I have finished my brief expedition to sample Irish whiskey. I have a miniature Scottish single malt which I will shortly open and toast you and all adventurers, past, present and future. Here's to us all Ruth. Here's to us all.
Fascinating! I've never seen such an in depth distillery tour. Your videos make me homesick for Scotland, even though it's been almost 60 years since I've lived in Scotland. Give my best to Callum, he obviously likes what he is doing.
I always think I can be doing something else in my office while I watch your videos but that NEVER works! Whatever I was trying to do gets dropped so I can enjoy only your video. The places you go and the land I get to see is so incredible! I'm getting too old and my husband can't travel anymore but I get to see your wonderful country through YOU! Thank you Ruth 🙂
I never want your videos to end. So enjoyable. I'm learning so much about Scotland and my oh my, all those different types of Whiskey! Really enjoy watching. Thanks for making and posting.
@@johnhealy4233 Sorry - I posted last last night. My son has recently returned to the UK from Tennessee and we were talking about Jack Daniels Whiskey. Not a patch on the real stuff from Scotland!
Each video gets better than the previous one if it's even possible. Even though my favorites are the ones where you spend the night at mysterious places, lol. Keep on the great work ❤❤❤❤❤
I totally enjoyed this video. Roxanne and Callum seem very nice and friendly. Callum was very generous with the tour and his knowledge. I scanned the bottles QR code on the screen. I’ll look for Ardnamurchan Whiskey here locally.
Totally agree with your driving pace. I must be the slowest car driver as the reason i went to the highlands was to enjoy the view, so travelling at 50-60 on those single track roads is just not enjoyable. I was doing 25-35 and every time a car was up my backside i pulled over and let them pass, much more enjoyable and less stressful. Who wants a stressful holiday. Will be back next April 🤞
Hullo from Glasgow, wee Ruthy. We recently were on Loch Shiel and saw Glenfinnan Monument. The Corran ferry is lovely. Really enjoying seeing these places I've been. Love the channel.
WOW! Beautiful scenery Soo serene; I must visit spectacular Scotland after watching Ruth's professional and educational videos! Ruth is the best videographer and documentary narrator!! Thanks to my Scottish Sis, Ruth!! God bless her!!
Great stuff in getting those interviews with Fergus and Calum. Their local expertise added to your own expertise was the icing on the cake. Well done, Ruth!
Hi Ruth ! I watch you from California USA. I found you from your cave video. I rarely comment on RU-vidrs and I often watch travel vloggers like Kara and Nate. You’re the first vlogger in a while that I actually enjoy watching lately. Thank you for uploading your adventures. I cannot wait to see your channel grow more. (:
I must say, this video is superb. This is professional grade touring guide that would take tens of thousands of pounds to make by a production company. I've always wanted to go tour the Ardnamuchan. Truly grateful for your efforts in bringing this video to me. Take care, hope to see you in another video soon. 👍🏴
Yes, indeed. One of my favourite areas. Many trips back and forward to family on the Isle Mull via Lochaline or Kilchoan (with the obligatory visit to Sanna Bay). Another outstanding video. You are a star Ruth. Missing Scotland... 🥲
Well Ruth, I'm not gonna lie, that was 1 of the best videos iv watched in a long time Especially meeting the 'friends' and the whisky tour, and the barrel store
Hi Ruth. I was up on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in May in my wee van "Myfanwy" and stayed next to Callum and Rox for two nights. What a lovely couple they are, they made me most welcome. In the evenings, we had a few wee drams and food cooked on the campfire, and the only sounds were drumming snipe and bleating sheep, bliss. The peninsula is so remote and quiet, I love it. I'm planning another trip up there in October. Great video as usual, Ruth.
They mentioned to me that you'd been to visit! It sounds like you all had a great time. The wee camp fire they have is brilliant, I hope you enjoyed your drams!
Love Ardnamurchan, the most unspoilt part of Scotland. I rented a caravan with my family years ago in Achnaha. We got invited to a Ceilidh on our first night - made so welcome. Beautiful part of Scotland.
I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the videos on your channel & this is one of the most beautiful & informative to date! It is so lovely to see these locations around Scotland which remain more remote & less influenced by modern society. Take care Ruth & I hope you keep enjoying your exploring. 😊
Another blissful video tour - Ruth, you're so good at this stuff! I took the ferry from Tobermory, Mull, to Kilchoan ("Kil-Hoan") and stopped at that viewpoint near Ben Hiant (@ 7:48). There were cattle on that beach below and sheep on the hills to the left of the viewpoint. It was absolutely serene to see the cows down on that crescent beach. Like a dream! I passed by the distillery, but schedule didn't permit me to stop. I am happy you included a tour by Calum. Next time! Thank you
You are good ambassador to represent Scotland, Ruth❤. Lot of things I learned about beautiful Scotland throughout your adventure🎉😊. Your enthusiast, knoledge, and offcourse your lovely smile is great combination ❤
looks like an epic area to tour and visit, gorgeous views, you always take us on some lovely trips which I really enjoy , How awesome that you were able to meet up with some other RU-vidrs how cool is that, They have a very nice van set up love the extension they added great idea. loved the distillery tour found that interesting Thank you again Ruth . London ontario Canada . Cheers !
wonderful to see the ardnamurchan from the land side: Sanna was the first place I ever stayed on a dinghy cruise in Scotland - imagine!! - and we have sailed past the lighthouse there at least 4 times over the years. a joyful and peaceful video. thanks!
Another wonderful remote journey. Your videos really are putting me in the mood for travelling the West Highlands when I eventually get back into campervaning.
That was a really interesting video Ruth. Fascinating to see inside the whisky warehouse. Most of the distilleries I have visited around Scotland and Tasmania (born Scotland but live in Australia) show you the malting floor and still but rarely the bond warehouse.
That was a neat distillery tour, wonderful to see how they are reducing climate impact. As a follow up, we found Ardnamurchan AD Core in Austin, TX. After trying the whisky, I can say this AD Core is the only peated whisky that I have liked. Thanks again for revealing this remote area and wonderful whisky. Slàinte.
Was a pleasure to have you over for a visit finally and glad you enjoyed your wee tour around Ardnamurchan Distillery 🥃🥃 Hopefully we can catch up again soon 🤩🤩
I loved this vlog, you were just mosying along in your van showing us the country side. the Ardnamurchan area is beautiful and now a must see on my bucket list. Thank you.
Fantastic upload there Ruth, really enjoyed this that tour with Calum in the distillery was brilliant, And a great couple them 2 are, sweet looking van they got 2, So Thank in you 👍
I went here by motorbike . No need to rush, 20 mph plenty. I stayed at a campsite at Strontian. A few camper vans and a small adjoining field for tents, one blue transit van and one tent for neighbours. Went to the lighthouse and cafe.
This is my favourite video so far, i remember spending a lovely time at Ardnamurchan many years ago.....i think 25 mph is just right for those single track roads, Ruth...I love you....
Hi Ruth, yet another great video , I love Ardnamurchan , apart from the very rough roads that is . the lack of traffic is a real bonus. your friends van is lovely, and I am really jealous of their lifestyle. already looking forward to your next edition take care😘
HA! We stayed at that camp site!......It was AMAZING!!!!! Your not wrong the drive out there is just incredible......I loved it. It's literally another world. Take care.
Hi Ruth, thanks for this very interesting episode. The tour around the distillery with Callum was very informative! The distillery's marketing is in good hands .
OMGosh. This is answering so many questions I've had with how to get around in the Western-most counties in Scotland. Love all of your uploads. Thank you from Oklahoma 🇺🇲!
Yes the Outer Hebrides has amazing beaches, or at least it had when my wife & I were there, for a week, with our then toddler son, but that was over 40 years ago. I understand the Late Spring is probably the best time to visit. Calum was appropriately enthusiastic about "his" whisky I enjoyed your & his enthusiasm Bye!
Thanks, Ruth. I really enjoy each and every one of your episodes, but this is probably my favorite one yet. The drive in was very beautiful, with lots of variety. These friends of yours really have it going on. They are totally charming, their camper van is beautiful, and their lifestyle there in the west of Scotland is quite idyllic. The distillery tour was the best one you’ve shown us. I love all the detail he went into. I will definitely be searching for the Ardnamurchan whiskeys at our shops here in the States. Happy Camping!
Hi Ruth, unusual to see you with a Beer lol Once again another great and informative video with some amazing views of Scotland. So nice you where able to finally meet your friends, and so nice of the guy to take the time to show you around the distillery.
.....one of your most educational episodes traversing Scotland Ruth, the more remote desolate isolation has always prevailed when meeting interesting peoples and their environments, and likewise when travelling to the far-flung corners of the world, the memories always remain.....
We visited the lighthouse several years ago. The journey to is amazingly beautiful. The lighthouse tearoom then had a wonderful collie sheepdog which loved fetch and return games. Bringing our large motorhome pass the last stretch of single carriage way where the red/green lights are was tight but well worth it. Mr Boots ( of the well known chemists ) had a beautiful large Manor House close by. Thank you for reviving some great memories.
Greetings from Michigan! What an amazing video! Gorgeous area (loved Sanna Beach) and Calum was a delight with his whisky history. I learned so much! I love learning about the West coast especially since my ancestors are from that side...but also love the Gaelic. My son's name is Ian and my grandson is Malcolm. Thank you Ruth for sharing your beautiful country and the motherland of my Grandparent's with us!
Beautiful scenery, nice weather and cool people, excellent whiskey ... what more can one ask for? Thanks for you nice videos, I always enjoy these very much!
Haven’t even finished watching the video, but I have to say that Ardnamurchan is a truly special place for my boyfriend and I. We stayed for a week in the little cottage right next door to the distillery, which is a great base to explore the area. More than happy to return some point in the future 😊
Young Ruth, her channel content, knowledge, verbal skills, Scottish identity & so much more. Absolutely love her channel. Just about to contribute financially.
Wow! I wasn't expecting to get a tour through the Ardnamurchan distillery - what a great opportunity to get to know Calum, your personal tour guide, the distillery and its whiskies. Yep, it's what many would call a tad "out of the way" (the distillery site) but that just makes it even more fascinating. I have a few bottles of Ardnamurchan in my own cabinet and to my mind they're one of the most exciting new distilleries Scotland has to offer. Great to see how Calum and Roksana have set up their van to suit their lifestyle, including a big trip to Tobermory by ferry whenever they need to do any serious shopping. It took a while for me to process that, but a look at the map explains it perfectly. Many thanks, Ruth, for exploring the Ardnamurchan peninsula and putting together this great video! Cheers.
Thanks so much Russell! It was very nice of Calum to give me a private tour and so interesting to see inside all the warehouses. Really glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Ruth Ah, a truly beautiful part of our country. Great video and as always, made me smile 😁. Thanks 🙏. Stay safe & safe travels 🥾🎒🚐🥃 Slaint`e 🏴👍👋😁👏👏
