I can just see 200k people wandering about every convention they go to, staring at everyone's right hand. And then, "Ah ha! You're Puffin Forest, aren't you?" "Ah, nope, sorry." "Dang it!" *continues searching*
Well, you could have cried while watching the episode... Tears of laughter. (Seriously, he didn't tell us ahead of time he was going and didn't do a face reveal. How could he not see that his plan was coming up all 1's.) If this were Fate, it would have had a challenge rating of mediocre, and he's still failed it. (Obviously, he decided to just opt for "just failing" instead of "succeeding with consequences".)
I wish I could meet you in real life Ben. You seem like an awesome person. You rolled high on the charisma in every upload. I adore your content; best Dungeons and Dragons content on the internet (even with the fierce competition like Critical Role, Adventure Zone, Animated Spellbook, etc). Your videos are just so personal and heartfelt, that no matter what you decide to talk about, whether it's giving a cat a character sheet or are describing your character pissing in a bucket, I am just as intrigued to hear your story; as weird as that may be. You have the best personality and I love it. You stay you, Puffin-Forest. I love ya.
Yup! Agreed! What makes your vids so entertaining is that it feels super personal and fun. Like hanging with a friend and chatting bout funny scenarios they’ve had. Keep up the great work! Lol if I ever see you at a con or something of course I’d thank you in person and get an autograph! ... um... if we ever figure out what you actually look like! :p
Small stupid story: My friends and I are playing my custom Fallout DnD and I had them cross a lake. My Ghoul (who always seems to roll a Crit Fail) rolls a Critical Failure and crushes a Mirelurk nest. Mommy is very Angry. I rolled a D10 ( bad idea) and there were 7 Mirelurk hunters and a very Angry Queen. The Mutant already made it across and is swimming back and killing Mirelurk with his Shishkabob. The synth was trying to swim back to shore while shooting more Mirelurk. All the Mirelurk want the Ghoul dead. The super mutant decides , after throwing his Shishkabob into a Mirelurk, that he would like to jump up and Smash the Mirelurk Queen's head with his Super Sledgehammer. His Player has been complaining and hindering his party ( to the point of almost letting the Ghoul die because he didn't call him friend), so I decided to make it a roll of 100. If he got a 100 he would instantly kill this Boss Monster... He got a perfect 100... So the Mutant defies physics, jumps from in the lake on to a Monster as big as a house, and with one hit of his Super Sledgehammer sends shell and meat flying out of the lake and on to the shore, where he lands safely. Whenever someone questions him, he reminds them of the Queen and a Critical 100.
Sounds like fun, I totally would have said hi if I was there. And knew what you looked like. And wasn’t star struck by people like Matt Mercer, Projared, Commander Holly...
Its 4:30am here....and I absolutely adore you. All your content has brought me back to DnD I'm running a campaign now and you have inspired me to keep going on Love hearing your words of wisdom 😂
Geeze man I see you comment on literally every channel I watch regularly. This is getting weird. I mean you even comment on the smaller channels I watch. This seems strange... or you are just a cool dude who's into cool stuff. That might also be it.
Ale is a type of beer. It's the heavy foamy kind like most craft beers. Lager is the lighter kind like most cheap stuff you buy in 12-packs at the grocery store.
You're my favorite D&D content creator because you really know how to tell a story and deliver punch lines of the funny moments without it feeling forced. You're very talented and have subtly given me pointers in my own delivery. Thank you 🤩
"I already do that... without the drink!" I'm becoming more and more convinced that you're my long lost twin or some cliche backstory like that. Who needs to drink when you're oblivious most of the time anyway, right? :'D
I kind-of want Ben to slowly make his animation style more realistic until he just starts randomly using traced images of his face out of nowhere and people are just like "What the heck is going on?!"
You're part of why I got into D&D if it makes you feel better. You popped up in my recommended list ( I watch alot of animation videos ) and from you I started checking out Critical Role, then D&D Beyond, and then had my first session early last month. So thank you 💙
I used to play D&D years back in 2nd ed. Worked for WoTC for a couple years even. However, the only D&D content I can't pull myself away from is the videos you make. I sincerely thank you for creating hilarious and entertaining videos that make me smile each time I finish one. :)
As you were describing your plan to be noticed I thought to myself, I don't think he's even shown his face how would people notice him... oh they didn't.
"They gave us beer... or ale." Ale is a type of beer. most American beer is a different type called "lager." Generally you can tell the difference if they serve it warm or cold: if they serve it warm its probably ale, if it's served cold then its probably lager.
Most Beer in America is served cold regardless of ale or lager. It’s easier to keep beers just the same temp as each other, though you are right ale should be warmer.
Not sure if anyone else noticed but this episode had a lot of extra detail, like the facial expressions where much more Anime like and I believe I noticed a few faces that were inspired from, Well Done Puffin on the improvements! Keep up the good work!
There was a convention I went all the way to the US (from Asia) in order to meet a specific RU-vidr, I almost chickened out at last moment but I managed to walk up, say hi, and then just stand there in silence not sure what else to say and staring blankly into space as he walked away So I think it's safe to say I pretty much nailed it
This GUY is quite possibly the best uploader/content producer in my 32 years on this Earth. I absolutely GET the humour and love your delivery - pure joy - I put you on repeat at times just to have you fill my room - that er sounded less creepy in my head, but I'll be damned if I backspace key those lines now. We be Adventurers - we don't reroll... except when rerolls are allowed - then well - I guess we do. ... hides.
I just realized the reason the new avatar for Ben is off to me is because of the thick lines he uses now for his avatar sometimes. It's not _bad_ It's just different. Keep up the experimenting dude, love seeing you try to improve!
I absolutely love your content! I can honestly say I spend more time watching your videos than anyone else. It's all the voices that you do, they keep me laughing!
I'd say hello to you in an instant. I think you're one of the most relatable D&D content creators on the internet. Not in a weird way though. Just in a normal, totally respectful, "I appreciate the work you put into your stuff," kind of way.
you currently operate under the misconception that you can avoid Crucifixion?? ... nice to know that the fire of my hatred for pathfinder will keep me warm in the winter of my life.
Don't know to be honest I really enjoyed it I even moved from 3.5 to exclusively Pathfinder ( I went and play the newer DND but none of them appealed to me) but for some reason it and 4 are looked upon like the Antichrist of the game series
There is some comfort to being obscure, Puffin Forest. You can do you without asinine judgment and still be loved by your friends. Nothing is as cool as being loved by people you like and love personally.
Thanks for putting these videos out. They are fun to watch. I've been going through some personal stuff lately and having a hard time, so its been fun to watch them it keeps my mind off of things.
Legends of Smokey Fur he said it in like the last video he put up so just check those. If you're too lazy though he just had a random name generator and mixed 2 together
If it's any consolation to you, I'd have recognized you at that event. Your video on D&D Adventurers League inspired me to go to my local comic shop and start playing. Bought the PHB, bought dice, and jumped in. Before your video I didn't know Adventurer's League was even a thing. Fast Forward about two months, and I'm a League Dungeon Master, and I'm also DMing weekly homebrew games with friends. Thanks Puffin Forest.
"Hey! Lets go to that convention! It will be super cool if fans will recognize me!" *never shown his face on camera* Well... I always thought these D&D adventures were just made up or at the very least very overdramatic for storytelling purposes... But hearing this... I'm not so sure anymore xDDD PS: you are great! never change!
You actually can see him if you really want to. He talks about the time when he played as a character called Abserd. As of right now there is a multiple-part series of videos where he's actually playing that game. So you can watch the actual game he briefly discusses on here. It's a 360 degree video that you can rotate until he appears on screen. I think he's to the right of the DM if I remember correctly
How I got in to dnd is that my older cousin is obsessed with it and even has a podcast for dnd and she sent me a starter kit (which we still haven’t finished because she is the dm and she lives in California while I live in Colorado) and some dice, and some other handy tools, then I made some friends who played and got some of my friends into it so yeah, I love dnd and I love your videos, I really wish I could play a campaign with you, they all seem to be fun and abstract!
Is it just me or is this the best video Puffin Forrest has put out yet? I mean, I'm not just saying things and I don't hate his other stuff, but this felt like his deliveries were a lot funnier, the way he told the story felt more comedic, the animation seemed better and more expressive.... IDK if it's just me or what, but this seems like a notable step up from the Obelisk Encounter and his other videos I've been watching recently.
Do you have any advice for someone forwhom watching your channel has made them want to play DnD? But has no friends and lives slightly left of the middle of nowhere.
Hey, you prob wont see this and idk if you did get into it, im assuming yea but Roll 20 and discord groups are 1 way of doing it without all being together
3:25 You should have asked them about which creators they were fond of. Instead you just walked away. 4:21 Why didn’t you talk to them? Ur vids are still fun
Kinda cool to hear about the roll-player characters walking around as townspeople. Seems a bit more dignified than the stock standard booth-girls other events have. Bless d'n'd
It would have made my day to have meet you there PF. Always enjoy your videos and content, your unique style of DND is so refreshing, I bet Gaming with you is a blast!
Hell last weekend I went to game shop where in the back they had different tablet top games, a few of those folks knew your vids. Make a stop down here we sure enjoy it
Heyo. Just wanted to say as a D&D fan your videos are awesome. I love seeing your animated shows and I find them often halarious and relatable. Especially with some of my DMing sessions and the occasional real life conversations. Please keep making more? Your RU-vid personality is awesome xD
Dude if you came to a convention near me I'd lose my mind punching out fans (who probably were just there for some other reason completely) just to meet you in person. I love your stories and animations.
My friend played d&d from first edition, i started playing with him in 2nd edition, and then Life kicked in my door after 3rd edition, so it's been a while since I've had time for anything resembling "fun". Now my neices and nephews are getting into d&d (my wife and I are blessed with the joy of not having had children) so they've pulled me back in, go to the uncle covered in wargaming themed tattoos of course. Now I get to play the games I love with my whole family!
Ale and lager are the two main kinds of beer. Lagers being Buddweiser, Coors, Stella, Tennant's, etc. and ales being any IPA, McEwan's, English bitter, stout, etc. Generally, lagers are mostly clear and slightly yellowish coloured and ales are darker, but pale ales are the exception to this.
I understand how you feel. I went to comic Con where I live, and some famous people, who I admired came to the convention. I was so nervous of meeting them that it took me two hours of circling around there panel to finally gain some confidence to talk to them.
I watched that event! Well a good portion of it live! Glad you could make it and wish I was still on the west coast! Oh and you're a famous person to me man!!! Keep making them videos and I hope to see some new ones covering all this new content they're coming out with in the fall!
