💳The Russian entity of Domino's Pizza filed for bankruptcy earlier this month. Nine days later, a pair of Russian businessmen announced they'd taken over its assets. They're rebranding it to "Domino Pizza" with the "i" replaced by its Russian Cyrillic equivalent.

Eat the crust! 😊 I live 18 miles west of Detroit and another 18 miles west is the headquarters for Domino's. They were big in the 1980's and the pizza outlets almost became extinct. They took off again in the last 5 years. So many people in Detroit missed the great taste of their pizzas, so they started opening up their businesses again one store at at time. I Love Pepperoni and Mushrooms. The secret ingredient is lots of garlic salt in the crust. Gives it a good taste. I used to get Buffalo Wings too but only get pizza now! Love your channel Russell! Keep up the good work! I like exploring Russia with you in the comfort of my home!😅

@i_am_blur you're kind of stating the obvious there. However, they make it out like the Russians don't have any options and that now the poor Russians are missing out, when in fact they aren't. The US instead is missing out on millions and millions of revenue. This whole sanctions business has done nothing but made Russia self-sufficient, and they are thriving through their innovation once again, just like before. Do you think the Russians actually care about being snubbed by the world? Not one bit. They're used to it.

In Irkutsk (in Siberia) there has long been domino pizza, but now is not their time, there are many competitors, with a more tasty and high-quality product. I ate domino pizza a couple of times, and realized that it was not mine, the level of a railway station cafe. I prefer to eat pizza not in chain pizzerias, where the chef himself makes garlic sauce, and the pizza is made from good quality home-made products, without seasonings with a flavor enhancer, the empty price is a little more expensive, but very tasty.

Fun video. Eat the crust, definitely. I eat every last morsel. Haven't had a Domino's in a long time, though. It tasted average, as I recall. I usually go to independent pizza restaurants. In Russia pizza is not very popular. It's considered not healthy. Russian cuisine is mainly soups, meat, vegetables and grains, so pizza is kind of hard and dry for us. But It's tasty and it creates a special friendly atmosphere and in many places the delivery is guaranteed 40 minutes. Also, russian kids like pizza a lot, so it's usually a must on a children's party.

I taught English in Russia (St. Petersburg mostly) for 5 years, and there were combination pizza and sushi restaurants everywhere. The pizzas hardly had any crust. Also, Russians talk a lot about eating healthy while they eat and drink most anything.

Domino’s Pizza here in the Philippines is one of the driest pizza among all US Brands here for me. We have Shakey’s, Pizza Hut, Yellow Cab, Sbarro, S&R ( Costco) just to name a few.

Domino's Pizza in Russia was essentially a Turkish company, its products, and pretty much all American fastfood is horrible and incredibly unhealthy. Sensibly much of Europe has very restrictive advertising rules in place for McDonald's, Burger King, et al. Imports of American "meat" washed in chlorine, GM "foods" and other American Frankenstein foods are banned too.... Russians are a lot slimmer than most other Europeans and I'm sure, with the demise of McDonald's in Russia, that Russian kids will be among the healthiest in Europe.

Here in Melbourne we have Domino's and Pizza Hut. I would Never buy their pizza. Awful! Only buy traditional Italian pizza from a local store. I would never order a pizza with chicken or pineapple topping. Always Capricciosa with anchovies ❤ I also don't eat chips/wedges of cola drinks. Maybe I'm fussy. Even for $4 us dollars I'd give Domino Pizzas a miss. Would much rather a yummy Russian soup and bread. Russell would you go back again and order pizza when not filming? I can't imagine Russians queuing up for Domino. Great video

Hi Russell Im a big fan of your content. I grew up in Frankston. Lived around Melbourne since then and I'm 50 now. I have to say I'm pretty jealous of you. It was always my dream to retire in Eastern Europe, but I don't think I can now. Do you have any advice for getting a visa? If not that's fine. I think I will move to Thailand or Cambodia. I'm pretty free to do what I want. My wife left me after the Altona refinery closed down and I got laid off during coronavirus, been a chemical engineer for almost 30 years. For ~$4-5 USD that's not a bad deal for lunch. But Costco / Sam's Club has it beat with their $1.50 hotdog and soda or $2-2.50 1/4 large pizza slice and soda. It seems lame that companies are continuing to rebrand in Russia. It's good that the guy who owns them now keeps the stores running and people employed.

In the US Dominos is considered one step above frozen pizza. I haven't had that stuff since my college days. Saw some of it at a kid's birthday party. They've come a long way improving that stuff they call pizza.

$4 for a pizza and fries is a bargain price. Domino's in the UK are expensive compared to others. Take away food in general are now a very expensive way to eat. $160 - cheapest ticket from London to Moscow 🎉 In average cost of sq.meter for Moscow’s apartments - $2600, in Saint-Petering (beautiful 5 million city, reminds Venice and Paris, former capital of Empire) - $2100, Sochi (resort city on Black Sea, warm enough to have palms in city and cold enough to have snow in mountains around) - $2200, Vladivostok (city at Far East, where is ocean, near Japan) - $1700. Cost of utilities per month (water/electricity/etc) - ~$50-80, during winter up to $110 (will be enough of heat to walk at home only in t-shirt/pants).

It has been awhile since I've had some free time to watch your videos. I just find it curious that anybody buys a pizza (but that is a cheap combo price), as I can make an amazing 8" Neopolitan pizza with fresh mozzarella, shaved parmesan, pepperoni, ... with '0 flour and Manitoba flour for basically $5 in the oven. My Sicilian friend prefers my pizza over anything we can purchase locally and he is very picky about his pizza.

@@TravellingwithRussell My ex-wife was 3rd and 4th generation Japanese in the USA. My son learned to cook from his great-grandmother and that is real Japanese food. The stuff you get in restaurants is never as good. New Years, Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc were always at least 50% amazing Japanese food.

We had Domino's pizza. But, even in Kazan (actually very big city, though) - it counts at... 7-8 restoraunts. Why ? VERY big competition with other places. From local cafeterias to large regional and "federal" chains. Edit: How it is ? Actually, i never eat it.

Seriously how do you sanction a pizza lol ? Not rocket science to make , a bit of rolled out dough with a topping , for eg. cheese and peperoni lol . Every nation makes them and puts their cultural slant on the topping and they all taste good . They all don't call it pizza they have their own name for them , they all take the style of a pizza . One question I have is since Dominoes just closed and was taken over. Aren't the new owners using the exact same ingredients that Dominoes already had in the restaurant when they closed? Next question is will the new company be able to continue to get the same ingredients (sauces, toppings spices, etc.?) going forward or will they have to find other sources for their pizza ingredients? That would make a HUGE difference if they will have different ingredients once the in store supply runs out. I suppose there is probably a warehouse somewhere also for the chain. Maybe it will take a while to see if things change in that case....

There are enough manufacturers of ingredients in Russia so that there are no problems with this. These will end, others will replace them. Although I am sure that all these ingredients are already produced in Russia and not imported from other countries )

Professor, I much prefer the NYC Italian Pizza and… most times. I’d eat the crust; if overcooked, I’d not. “Chips” “Wedges” are delicious… but a “must” to avoid! I’m so delighted you know your food so well!

The best pizza I have ever had was in….. -surprise- in Deutschland! Yes. In Germany. I went to an Italian restaurant in Duisburg and got a 12” pizza with very thin crust, very little cheese and marinara sauce. It was superb.

Amazing. No wee need to replace burger king, Pizza hut and Taco Bell. Once we do that we’ll have the whole kit. We also need to hope that our friendly neighbors get sanctioned so that we can export these businesses. The less American corporations around the world, the better.

I don't think getting the CIS countries sanctioned will help Russia. Russia needs these countries to do well so that they can buy as many Russian products as possible. This is even more true today as Russia is making more technologically advanced products; for example МС-21, Superjet 100 and even Russian analogues of Western software like MS Office (Р7 and others). BTW, sanctions on Russia destroyed McDonalds' business in some CIS countries like Kazakhstan because of logistical and other problems. Now local businessmen own the Kazakhstani business. Russia will get its chance to expand its businesses in the CIS and beyond but not by getting friendly countries/nations sanctioned.

Always liked Domino's until the local restaurant kept burning the pizza. The local store is also a take out or delivery only, no seats for eat in. Changed to Little Caesars and Pizza Pizza. I prefer crinkle cut fries because of the crunchy outside but wedges are good in a pinch. In Canada, we have vinegar (especially malt vinegar) and salt with our fries. Waste not want not, eat the crust particularly if it's a stuffed crust (stuffed with cheese). The parks in that Country are beautiful. It looks like the walk from Domno Pizza to the Metro is good for wearing off the effects of the food, lol. It's a snail to me.

We have Domino's delivered every couple of weeks. Favourite is thin crust with green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and pepperoni. We leave the crust.

Tbh Dominos in Russia has got worse. Me and my family used to order their pizza. Now we chose DoDo more often. Although in Dominos there are sales and specials, DoDo makes better pizza, to my mind. And the prices are almost the same. So, when in Russia, try DoDo

crust is the best part. And in germany dominos is terrible, its like classic italian thin with no topping. In UK dominos is like USA style thick crust lots of cheese and toppings.

@@ムャlechat It looks like a pie. The pizza is cooked in a deep dish cake pan. The cheese is put directly on top of the crust and the chunky tomatoe sauce is put on last. Very thick pizza. I need a knife and fork to eat it.

Russell, all of these Russian's knock off of the original Western Brands will not do well in the long run. MacDonald's, KFC, and Domino's Pizza all have their own specialty equipments that makes the dough, buns, french fries, etc. In the restaurants, they have their own grills and refrigeration equipments. It is very difficult to gets electronics and parts for all of these specialty equipments when they need replacing. Eventually, when the equipments break down at Star Coffee, or Burger King, they will not be able to fix the essential equipments without replacement parts, and so the customers can't be serve their beverage or food. Sanctions have always been a long game. Even if everything goes back to before 2022 today, it would take a long time to undo all the sanctions, because sanctions are so sticky and tends to sets after a certain amount of time, like concrete.
