He hadnt been around or dated someone with kids. Its more of a realisation that he doesnt want to do it again. Grandkids you would have maybe 1 or nights and then they go back to mom and dad, very different to parenting, and you arent these kids parent, you would be a stepparent, so there would be no disciplining when things happen, you are just tge support with no authority. Initially he likely thought, ive done kids, surely its not a problem, then experiences it and goes “ive done kids, im not doing that again, especially when i can opt out”

But hes a parent too.

Only date people, that have children that are roughly the same as yours. If His are 19, then hers needs to be 16 or older. Putting off dreams of retirement travels is doable for a few years 3 or 4 but not 15 to 17.

Nah this is much more. Its also about how he wants to experience life and raising kids up again isnt part of that, hes done that. He wants a partner to spend time with and just be in a relationship, something he didnt have for a while. If your life and her life arent compatible then its best to break up, especialy here where its vital that the kids dont grow too attached

Did you even listen to OP's story?

For his case is different since he is a single father. Single fathers should date single mothers. Childless men should only date childless women.

That would be hypocritical of him though, because it sounds like he was a single father for most of it. It's just that his kids are adults whereas hers are still quite young. Late parenthood.
