this is one of the most satisfying and furfilling episodes in the entire anime. it just shows you how deep of a sttory naruto accually has, and that its all about perspective. because even the kabuto and his orphan brother story was so well done aswell. Kabuto getting obsessed starting a war, which ultimately let all shinobi come together, resulting into kabutos orphan brother hoping for kabutos spy mission to end and seein him again.
- Danzo never forced him; manipulated - yes, but the choice belonged to Itachi (technically, he could just end everyone on that night, but he's not that crazy). Danzo just pictured the situation from his perspective and gave him the "possible options". - Objectively Uchina clan could start their shinanigans the next day (they were gathering for this particularly), so there was the choice that had to be made (Leaf or Uchiha). Since the Third hokage didn't achieve peace (as he was saying, he tried), the war was about to begin. - To be clear, I'm not defending Danzo (he's still son of a b-), just pointing what really was his fault here. He's a great character that you love to hate.

izanamis real purpose is to isolate izanagis effect, if izanagi user uses izanagi while trapped in izanami loop his ability wont affect actual reality but that inside his head in the loop.
Two funniest moments from this arc was: Kobuto saying "he is the closest to the Six Paths" while both Madara and Tobi were out there; And he trying to release himself from Itachi's genjutsu.
This is my opinion which I would like to keep forward. And FAX I wish you read this too my friend. A lot of fans frankly doesn't understand the emotions what characters in Naruto are going through and Sasuke is one of the most misunderstood character. Lemme talk about him later. First I'll talk about Itachi Itachi is such an extraordinary character. I donno why some people keep yelling he aint a well written character he is mass murderer. The fact is people dont understand he NEVER SAID I dint do that. People dont see what the actual plot is itself about the character. What Kishi is trying to depict about Itachi was that he was a kid who was forced into a situation where he had literally no options. They dont understand Itachi was 13 when he was given this mission. Try to imagine by standing in the shoes of a 13 year old child where he is supposed to assassinate his whole clan. What were the options given to him? Kill your clan and your brother atleast lives. Else Danzo will order for mass murder of every Uchiha without an exception even if he was to go against Hiruzen's words. Knowing Danzo he would absolutely plot Itachi's death also. Infact he did send Itachi's subordinates to assassinate him post the Uchiha Massacre. What option did Itachi have? People say he should have killed Danzo.That would literally brand the whole Uchiha clan as a SURE SHOT Traitor for attacking and Murdering the Leaf Elder. That was not even an option he could choose as Itachi wanted Leaf and Clan's safety. Some people say he was an asshole who murdered innocent children. As if that kid had any option. Danzo literally says to Shisui and even in this episode, if one survives he becomes the threat later and eventually it will come back to the same scenario and hence he would extreminate them from the base and completely. Where did Itachi have an option to show soft corner to them? In this option atleast his brother would survive. Then the man literally was dead inside to the point where he forces Sasuke to awaken Sharingan, avenge his clan and he wanted one of THEM Uchihas(i.e., Sasuke) to kill him and avenge the Uchiha's pride and Honor not tarnishing the village's reputation and also eventually becoming Village's hero. How tf can people not understand him? Was he perfect? Heck no. Was he extremely well written? Definitely Yes. His complications are so packed and with no way out. He always called himself a failure. He never said he was right or perfect or anything. But nooo people wanna brand him as a shit character and overrated while he was so beautifully written. Then comes Sasuke. Holy shit why does anyone not understand this man? People ask why is he attacking the Leaf village when his brother wanted him to protect it. Like Fax here some people call him dumb every single episode because he is attacking the leaf village itself. I dont understand why people dont try to think from his perspective. There was a statement about Sasuke which Itachi says so beautifully. "Sasuke is like a blank canvas. He can be dyed in any color". And that was LITERALLY what happened to him his entire fkn life. As a child he was made to believe his clan was perfect. The Uchiha clan unfortunately was pushed to the edge by the likes that Danzo Shimura and the clan was on the edge of coup'deta. He loved his brother so much to an extent where he would somewhere prefer him over his parents also. That is how close he was to Itachi. Then one day he casually comes back from his school to just see his entire clan is slaughtered... Then he enters his home to see his own brother killing his parents infront his eyes. And Itachi sees his brother, he was so helpless there because young Sasuke with his innocense and his love for his brother would somehow pull out that information. So he Forcefully wanted to make Sasuke hate him. So he shows Sasuke the scene of the death of his clan and parents so many times by putting him in Tsukuyomi. The fact that Sasuke being a 7.5-8 years old child and he survived that trauma and not die due to mental pressure. And people ask why he is EMO KID? Seriously? Itachi had no option either. His words wouldn't be enough for Sasuke to hate him. He had to do this over and over everytime to the point where Sasuke could NEVER know his brother was the man what he was. He accepted this that he would be in the eternal Shadows. And despite this now the 8 year old kid Sasuke spends the rest 8 years of his life completely being in the mode of an avenger. Even when Team 7 almost changed him there were people like Orochimaru who triggered him back and brought him back to the vengance track. Now after 8 years of harcore hatred he kills Itachi and avenges his clan JUST to know His brother was literally THE MOST VICTIMISED PERSON EVER who SUFFERED SO BADLY. His whole life was a flip there. He is in a state where he by his own hands fought and ended up being the reason for Itachi's death and Now he cant do ANYTHING to bring him back. All he could do is cry cry and cry. His world has totally collapsed inside out. And why did all this happen? Because the village leaders wanted Itachi to do this to PROTECT THE LEAF VILLAGE. And when Sasuke says I WILL DESTROY THE HIDDEN LEAF/KONOHA he is talking about Konoha as an INSTITUTION as a whole thing that those asshole 3 elders wanted to so called protect by mass murdering Uchihas. Like the people say na "People residing in Konoha who will end up dying"..., that is just a COLLATERAL DAMAGE unfortunately. But Why in the hell would Sasuke give a damn about it? His complete and sole intention now is VENGANCE. He wants to destroy the VERY THING the elders wanted to protect by making his brother go through this much of SHIT in his life. When a person has LOST EVERYTHING because of a certain something, DIRECTLY or INDIRECTLY, why in the heck would he think about ETHICS or LOGIC when he says FK IT I WANNA DESTROY THAT VERY THING? Sasuke never said I am doing JUSTICE. If he said so and then he wanted to destroy the leaf then he would be definitely Dumb. Sasuke says I WANNA DESTROY THE LEAF THAT CAUSED MY BROTHER SO MUCH PAIN. Simple and straight. How the heck do people not understand him? Why should he continue what his brother did? When his brother literally was put through hell, made him kill his every relative just for that village why would Sasuke even WANT to go and continue what Sasuke did? In real world Why would ANYONE do that? Sasuke us extremely complexly well written. I always feel sad that people dont understand so many characters. They think about RIGHT WRONG when that is not even the point to be noted. It is what THE CHARACTERS FEEL and what they think because of the circumstances they are in. Try to stand in their shoes and try to think, people will understand I feel.
People never factor in to these things that A, emotions aren't logical, usually they're the opposite. And B, Saskue is just a kid. How many 16 year olds do you know that don't rage against how unfair society is. Add to that that Saskue and Itachi were both horrifically traumatized and victimized. Itachi lashing out at Saskue, while calculated, was also his way of sharing the pain. Plus as long as Danzo was alive Saskue was in terrible danger. One way to make sure Saskue was above suspicion was to totally turn him against his clan. Its hard to make someone out to be a fellow traitor when the purpose of their existence is to kill that traitor. If Saskue didn't hate his brother then he may learn to forgive, and go looking for Itachi to talk and work things out. Danzo would have killed him in an instant. So yeah, when people complain about characters being stupid kids, well you're right. But they also are child soldiers forced to commit atrocities. And a lot of Naruto's characters develop over a long time. Unless you look at everything as a whole, its easy to get caught up in nit picking characters. People always go off on Sakura in part 1 as useless and annoying. She's 12 years old, comes from a good home life without terror and trauma, no legacy of ninja to pass on skill or experience, and she doesn't have any special abilities like the Naruto or Saskue. She's a normal 12 year girl whose just getting interested in boys, its what she's supposed to do.
SPOILERS ahead for people who havent seen naruto @@henchera That's what I am saying. Like how are these people not trying to think from the pov of the character. And about Sakura, yes she was useless and annoying in the first part. And that was the point when she realises it she works harder and she actually freakin becomes one of the strongest kunoichis at the age of 16 damn it. People still hate her even when she has actually in many instances shown lots of care for Naruto. Their primary problem is that she ignored Naruto and went with Sasuke. Hence even after growing up, show care for Naruto, asking him to give up on Sasuke as she realises he is hurting himself in the process, people say she is trash. As if a hell lot of characters were able to do nothing against Madara. She was not the only one. And yes some places she could have been depicted better I wish. Coming back to Sasuke and Itachi, I really wish people understand their perspectives. I was so blown away by Sasuke's explanation in the end. After reuniting with his brother, with such deep hatred for the village, the kid still goes to talk to the Hokages to UNDERSTAND what does village and shinobi really means that made his brother do all this and still call himself the leaf shinobi even at death. Then he goes to protect the village because his brother sacrificed his life for it. Then he says THE PEACE THAT EVERYONE HAS SO CALLED ACHIEVED NOW IS ONLY TEMPORARY AS IT WAS BECAUSE OF ONE COMMON VILLAIN THEY ALL HAD WHICH WAS MADARA. THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN THE PAST AND AS SOON AS EVERYTHING GETS BACK TO NORMAL PEOPLE WAGE WARS AGAIN OVER EACH OTHER. SO I WILL BECOME THE COMMON VILLAIN FOR THIS WORLD FOR THE REST OF ETERITY, EVEN IF I HAVE TO USE MY RINNEGAN TO BE REBORN AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR THIS PURPOSE AND THUS FROM THE SHADOWS I WILL PROTECT THE VILLAGE. That 16 year old kid when he had such hatred for the village and when he wanted to destroy it for causing so much pain to his brother, he holds it all back so much to the point where he now wanna protect it JUST BECAUSE his brother protected it earlier with his life. If that is not beautiful character writing I donno what is. People start calling him stupid dumb I am like what are you understanding from the series then? He indeed was like a blank canvas. The different perspectives of different people literally drive his whole life until that point. He was indeed a really complex character very well written.
One thing I just thought of go see Shunsui get him to use genjutsu on Danzo as he won’t have sharingan yet and he had genjutsu that was so powerful u didn’t know u were being controlled
Itachi, the man that writes himself. Just invented a jutsu that is the exactly answer to every problem. Just equip a sword like and rpg to his susanoo and invented a story from a jutsu that he just take out from his ass. Awesome. Like we don't know the izanami only could be used if you had the senju and the uchiha power together. Yeah, every one has a mangekyo and every one was using the izanagi, the uchiha doesn't care about their eyes of course and every one was sacrified their eyes
More interesting examples of how the show ties to mythology and culture, izanami and izanagi as metioned are 2 primal gods / kami in shinto. And are female and male aspects . The genjitsu here also metions that it creates a Samsara like cycle which is from hindu and Buddhist traditions of rebirth and reincarnation, some people believe irt to be a cycle which repeats until the right lessons are learned. There are some interesting youtube vids on the mythology Naruto uses in its story once you are done with Shippuden it maybe interesting to do a reaction to some of them
The Izanagi and Izanami retcon is unfortunately pretty sloppy and bad, but at least the fight is pretty good and Kabuto's character is fleshed out very well.
I wouldn't call it bad but it's not great either. Like it makes sense that the clan would abuse it and since we never hear about it till Danzo, it makes sense that they found a way to nerf/counter it.

@Faxityy Sasuke wants revenge, killing the elders would be to soft for him... with revenge you wanna take something they took from you, that is what sasuke is doing. he wants to destroy the leaf because the elders took everything from him and now he wants to take everything from the elders/hokage. hope it helps to understand sasuke character a lil bit more :)

Itachi went through so much to protect the Leaf, he knows Sasuke is going to destroy, yet even if he does, Itachi will still love him. It's the greatest love one can share. These two are psychopaths, but you can't help feel for them.
Sasuke was never a psychopath. He was lied to and manipulated his entire life, no wonder he ended up trying to avenge the only person who genuinely cared about him after he learned the truth behind Itachi's actions.

He just is a psychopath ever since childhood, while other kids were having nice dreams, he was obsessed with killing a man, to the point that he betrayed his village and was gonna risk giving his body to Orochimaru. Then he learns a lot of information and decided to take the world as a hostage so that there's no wars and violence. That's not healthy.
