First check if your country has a Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) with the Kingdom of Thailand, if they do, then you don't have to worry about this, because DTA prevents the same income from being taxed twice. Australia has DTA with Thailand, and age pension is exempted from taxation according to Australian Treaty Series 1989 No 36 with Kingdom of Thailand. Google the treaty online. Article 18 in the treaty says Pensions and annuities 1. Subject to the provisions of Article 19, pensions and annuities paid to a resident of one of the Contracting States shall be taxable only in that State. 2. The term "annuity" means a stated sum payable periodically at stated times during life or during a specified or ascertainable period of time under an obligation to make the payments in return for adequate and full consideration in money or money's worth. Don't waste your time and money listening to the expert, because they are here to confuse you and make money from you.

You wont get double taxed. Look up "United States Thailand Tax Treaty." If you already paid tax on it, they won't tax it again.

But him staying over 180 days he will have to file....pain in Butt. Many others will stay under 180 just to keep out of the beauracracy. Thailand is killing itself financially. Me and my million s will have to go elsewhere half the year.

This treaty helps prevent double taxation by specifying which country has the right to tax certain types of income earned by residents and businesses in either country. @@ChupraCumbra That is just a stupid comment, I am not American, but I have used my country's own double tax treaty in Thailand since 2014, so 10 year now already, for taxing my pension. And I am paying way less taxing my pension here and not back home. This year I saved about 5000 Euro paying it to Thailand, like the treaty say I can do. Spreading fake information does not help anyone.

Okay I’m going to simplify the tax thing. You’re not taxed twice. Only once. Example. If you are taxed in your country at a rate of 20% but the tax rate in Thailand ( for money brought in ) is 25% than you pay the additional 5 % . Only on money brought in to or made in the country. That’s it. The 800,000 baht is not taxed but the interest made on it would be. If your pensions are made in another country and left in that country. You’re taxed at that countries rate.

You could say that all the money have been taxed at homecountry once, although tax% is lower....I think they not have time nor rescourses to seek pensioners with income maybe just over taxation line....

I think the key words you used were about money left in your country. So if you transfer your pension into a Thai bank account it's taxable if not already taxed!

Yep the bank automatically take a couple hundred baht 'income tax' from the interest we earn from our 800k accounts. I'm fine with the bank automatically doing that. It's a tiny % of a tiny %

I have never witnessed a nation's head with as much intellectual ability as the president of Argentina. He rather astutely professes a philosophical reasoning, especially with his chain saw. I suppose it sharpens his point of view, and provides a reasonable amount of self protection from wild eyed stabbers. Many people in America are hoping for the AK47th president of the United States to give his own thoughts an embodiment of physical form. It should prove to be interesting, if nothing else. I still need to give my own faith to a God who's thoughts are quite above my own, and seek some rest in his more tranquil paradigm, that are quite above the thoughts of the endless torment of this ever failing world set against itself. May his mercy forever abide in all his faithful, and in all who seek him.

Maybe if I'm correct, this could be the reason for all the tax scare in the land of smiles. Maybe just as simple as the government wants to show its people that all will be taxed accordingly. This may be because of the incoming new world tax program. Thais will be taxed even at vendor level. Unfortunately, everyone that loves or loved the tap pay system helped this along. (Not a good thing). It will be much to easy for thais to be taxed from poverty to rich, so heading off the power of progression, they must show that all will be held to identical standards. Terrible thing upcoming in regards to this tap pay (digital currency) and easily taxable and collectable system... the rich will pay no more and likely less.. don't call me some sort of conspiracy nut or weirdo just what I have soaked up and learned recently. 👍 good luck to the lower and middle class......we are screwed. As for the double tax delirium, not. Taxed income will be taxed once..
