In this #video , I contemplate the pivotal aspects of my life and the dynamics shaping my world. Having been raised in the #philippines with a #culture divergent from the #west or your own #country , my #reflections are deeply rooted in my unique experiences and perspectives. It's okay if my musings don't quite align with yours; we all perceive the world through different lenses.

I have seen all of your videos. This one was by far the most awe-inspiring to date. Your genuine authenticity is one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced. Wonderful words of wisdom. Western needs often do not truly meet cultural interests . Instead, tarnish the culture they now inhabit. Shau, Ron, if people would only listen to these words and their brains, perhaps they to would realize what they are doing to the community. A house I could call home, simple functional and environmentally friendly. What we need is love, contentment and appreciation to live within one's needs. Dwayne C- Hi Shay I hope life always stays the way you want it to be. Very few people I know can say that. Unfortunately life is always changing. People around you come and go. We love people, places, culture. But time seems to be always changing. We sometimes don't appreciate are surroundings, our culture. Time takes away what we love. Love ones, the culture of the old ways. Young people at least here in the west lose the values of the old ways if I'm making any sense. Love, health, good friends are the most important in life. Not how much I own or how big my house or car is. I hope I made some sense. I wish you and your love ones good health and love. Take care😊

The phills does offer simplicity and a much slower pace than the west, which many of us seek. Things are changing but lets hope some of the simplicity and values can remain. Seems like a wonderful place to raise a family, and offers a childhood we had in the west 40yrs ago.

Yes, we are simple, and I don't see us changing that quickly James. The question is whether foreigners will appreciate our simplicity the way you do, or will they want us to change to be more like their home countries? Time will tell.

One thing I've learned in the middle decades of life is that change happens with or without my approval. It's much healthier to try to keep up than to dig in and try to fight what is inevitable. The Taoists had a term - wu wei - that meant something like swimming with the stream and making small adjustments, rather than fighting the current. Embracing quietude could help these feelings of anger against gentrification.

Shay your words are important powerful and true. What you are saying is happening all over the world. The Philippines has not always been the country you know now. During Spanish colonization for example. Foreigners want what. you want the peace, beauty and life the Philippines offers. There is a large and growing Filipino middle class. They are the main owners of the large homes there. Interestingly Filipinos come to the US and pursue wealth and return to the Philippines and buy those homes you talk about. Listening to you its clear you live in paradise its inside of you.

Thank you Ron for your thoughtful comment! We appreciate your knowledge of my country. Only Filipinos can own land here, so it's a bit more complicated as to who is actually buying or building. Our middle class cannot afford a 10 million pesos home as the highest working incomes in the Philippines is between 18,000-100,000ph/month while 182,000ph is considered rich here (under $40,000USD.) We are not saying they shouldn't build, but maybe be a bit more proportional to what a native community might view as normal. And yes, it's all about what's inside of you. 😌

We are individuals but also a part of a family and relatives. That is a gift but sometimes can be a curse. The west emphasizes individuality but who are we without our relatives? Still we must live our lives.

Don't include me in this. Like ah said before....I'm home here..I'm the exception, not the rule princess. This country of yours, is to me, eternally beautiful, traditions and the culture here is one I have always envied not being a part of, I will never be from here, but I for sure fit right in here.....those that I have crossed paths with, have been cool to me, I think they detect I ain't no tourist with a tourist agenda, the people here are my brothers and sisters, and I the same....I don't know any other way to put it, because I haven't put much thought into anything other than being a chill dude, and resoect the terra firma upon which I stand.....
