Facts Just shows how much talent these people actually had. God given talent that they clearly worked hard to master. You can hear and see the difference. I wish the artist today in mass would work on their craft like these great artist clearly did.

No where in the world do they make music like this anymore. I am so glad I was raised in a time where music like this played on the radio. Kids now days sure missed out
I didn't miss out I was raised by my grandma (who has passed) and this was her favorite band she met them when she 16 years old workin at the top hat in Detroit one my favorite stories to hear because her eyes would light up everytime! Now I also have a love for motown and oldies thanks to my beautiful loving grandma
@@maryruggiero2884 he didn't ruin temps if he did they wouldn't have lasted pass cloud nine all of them did drugs not as hard as David but they did their share even Otis said he did a little Dennis was let go because of drugs Ali Ollie the same now Paul Eddie and Melvin Paul had sickle cell anemia and was in pain a lot that help lead him into him alcoholism Eddie was a chain smoker of three packs a day and sometimes did coke Melvin had ruematoid arthritis and had become addicted to pain killers they all had their demons but David stood up to berry Gordy when it came his money and what help get him outsed from the temps yeah he miss shows that's true but he was getting fed up with the Dianna Ross and the Supremes getting all props and the temps getting the leftovers and a lot of other artist a Motown were starting to feel the same as David David was no angel but he wasn't the villain that everyone makes him out to be
@@jimmiesmith5811 he destroyed what they were at the time. they had to evolve after that and were never as good as before. this is not my opinion, Jimmie, this is a fact recognized throughout the industry by the professionals. davis was a junkie...he was habitually late, irresponsible, undependable, hostile, mean, hateful, egotistic, deluded, and generally vicious. tell me how that does not degrade the quality of the group? he destroyed what the temps were. he was paranoid, twisted, violent, crazy as in insane because of his drug habit. how do you know the group wouldn't have been better if he had been a reasonable, lucid, responsible human being? he was disgusting. and he destroyed what the temps were and had. what they became is another story. he ruined what they wanted to be.

Must have been a Sullivan decision that they sing together. Because by now everybody and their mother knew you dont sing against David Ruffin.He handed Diana Ross her ass to her.Yes it did seem like the Tempts were salivating at the chance to blow Miss Ross off the stage in ffront of a national aaudience.

david ruffin was a detriment to the temptations. he ruined the group with his drug addiction. he was inconsistent and unreliable to the point where he got thrown out of the group. he caused members to quit and he caused a lot of trouble within the temptations. his voice was on and off, but he was never as great as Levi Stubbs...in his dreams, he wished to be Levi!!
Please don't be so quick to judge. The times were so must different then, I can remember that drugs were a part of the scene. Levi was great for the "Tops" and David was great for the "Temps". However Levi would not have been a great fit for the "Temps" and David wouldn't have made a good fit for the "Tops". I believe Eddie did leave because if his close friendship with David. Yet the introduction of "Dennis" into the group they started cranking out top billboard hits. Both artists were great and "Levi" had a more from the gut voice, I don't think he was better. There was TV show Temp vs Top back i the the day and think the " Temps" won in my opinion only. I really get where you are coming from with "Levi's" voice.

Everything comes backs again, and true music never dies. Classical music is still around. This pathetic music will fade into history like Disco. Yet it will come around again someday, there's only so many musical key signatures that can be produced. I'm so glad you appreciate such true feeling in music. I long to hear the artist that can sing a song without studio enhancements.
Absolutely the best, Temptations, 4 Tops, Marvin Gaye and so many more, Motown poured out talent like water in the 60' & 70's. Something I don't think will ever be duplicated, they were all so talented.
The clean and polished elegance. The supreme artistry and smooth and silky choreography. The heavenly beautiful vocals. The Temptations were absolutely EVERYTHING!!! :-D
David looked so serious when he was looking up at the ceiling, like it was actually raining. I had to look up at my ceiling to see if it was raining LOL. Wonderful song and wonderful voices that serenade very well together.
@@lindahines8287 true people don't wanna here the truth when David and Eddie left it just wasn't the same everybody did care for those psychdeilc songs they were good for the second generation temps but early temps fans missed Eddie and David Dennis was good but never got the following that David and Eddie had by 1976 the temps were just another r&b group and not taking nothing away from Richard and Damon they held their own they did their part love woke me up this morning hey girl i like your style and heavily were their best songs but after the a song for you lp that was it for awhile until the 1980s when Dennis came back for a awhile and Ali Ollie took his place and rest is history

I agree 100% this five were the greatest group of all time, but after them you could probably do a top 10 list and at least seven in that list would be a group from Motown, if not the whole list.
@@tommylove9270 Four Tops were better according to their peers and industry experts. the temps were great with all their lead singers, but none of them could hold a match to Levi Stubbs, the greatest soul singer of all time!!
It pains me knowing how Ruffin died. So talented and what a voice. I'd give anything to have that gift... and he just threw it away. Reminds me of so many other entertainers who died from drugs.
I'm glad I was introduced to The Temptations at a young age I love these guys. I'm only 26 and I listen to them as if I was born back then. Their music will kill anything on the radio now days
Now that's soul music. Not this shit they call music today. Pumping bass and making noise isn't even music its trash. Bring back the good old days when music meant some thing.
I can't agree any more but that song Bruno Mars did with the other gentlemen called "Im gonna leave my door open" now if most youth were making music as good as that song there'd be hope for music today but Alas I haven't heard anything close to that good in years and years...

My heart aches so much that those wonderful days of Motown Magic now no longer exist and such fabulous wonderful souls are no longer with us. I first heard these songs at the age of 15. I am now 73 but I play and watch them with awe and wonder still to this day. There will never be an era so glorious as with these beautiful black artists. I swoon still when I look at David Ruffin with his charisma ,may God love and care for him. Thank you Motown. Your songs will be playing at my funeral and will go with me forever. I love you and you make my life worth living just to hear you make your music. Nothing will ever compare to you.
So that explains why the guy who played Paul in the movie was moving like that. I thought he was dancing too hard, but he was really playing his part. One of my FAVORITE movies!

I went to a live concert of the Temptations and The Four Tops several years ago. Best concert ever ! They sung their own songs, and then all 9 guys got on stage singing songs together, and doing their dance moves. It was amazing ! I grew up listening to music from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s and I am so glad I did. So much good music came from that era

I could just listen all day to the Original Temptations...their music fills you up, moves your emotions, your moving with the music, love them. My favorites were Eddie Kendricks tenor, Melvin Franklin base, & Paul Williams baritone.
So sad that we won't be able to have people 😢 with this kind of talent. How magnificent is to hear this kind of music by the original artist. This music comes from the heart from the soul. It hurts to know that we won't have artists of this kind of caliber anymore. May they all rest in heavenly peace. How I miss those yesteryear 😪. Presently, modern days artists have lost the spirit of romance. Their idea of wooing a woman is to have straight sex without sugarcoating it. It's too bad that all that is lost. When I say this man voice give me goosebumps David Ruffin was truly a rare talent his voice is undeniable... Not to take anything from Eddie Paul or Melvin bcs they each held their own and I luv to hear them sang too but Ruffin just does it for me...there will never be anything close to this group
We can all agree the Temptations were a great group, we can all agree that during the era from the 50s-late 70s pre Disco there were so many great songs, groups, singers, writers, musicians of every genre. There is something special about that era even with all the conflicts and strife that made it special in America. Even the cars were cool. I'm glad I was around to see it even though I was a small kid in the late 50s I remember it all as it was happening in real time.
