I watch this GREAT performance almost every day, wish there were classy groups like this today.Dressed well, but,I guess kids these days don't want to see groups like this.
I'm 76yrs old now and feel proud to have been young when these guys were performing, David Ruffin's voice was sound blowing and together The Temptations were my top Tamla Motown group.
But don't forget his brother, Jimmy, who was a solo artist. "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SZfnKqAGlfY.html
My High School days , OMG!!!! I've wished for those days. You remember what grade you were in, teachers, pep rallies, boyfriends, clothes, EVERY THING....this and music during that time will ALWAYS be timeless. Real voices and harmony, choreography best ever. I'm 73 young in heart and spirit.
We need this music and gospel today. I'm pale and middle aged, living in a soul vacuum in Ontario Canada. Dull as a screw head here. Thank you for posting this. I listen to all my soul, R&B, gospel with rhythm, here. Today, I will enjoy Smokey, Al Green, Sam Cooke, Eric Bronson (Black Pumas), Bruno Mars, Chandler Moore, David Crowder, Naomi Raine, Tribal. Blessings to everyone.
What an incredible song by an incredible group…I feel sadness when I think of David Ruffin passing away so soon…Motown legends that will never be outdone.
I'm sad too about how David died and I believe he was wronged when he was kicked out of the group after all he had done to make it! I think Otis was just jealous of David!
I grew up on a farm outside of Detroit. This is the music my brother and I listened to when doing barn chores. The music of my youth broadcast to us on CKLW from Windsor.
I was their limo driver once, when they were in Dayton, Ohio. Big, Southern boys, right there!. I had to make 2 trips to the convention center . The 30 ft stretch wasn't big enough to fit them all in comfortably. It was my pleasure to provide ground transportation for the group. The best to you all you guys!.
Omg, the Temptations are such a classy act, but I got to say the best years were those with David as their front man. His vocals are mesmerizing and unforgettable.
Maaan! What a performance!! One of the things that made the Temptations unique is that they were all over 6ft. Not a big deal but not something you see everyday with a singing group. The original Temps are timeless.
They were great but I think the dramatics as a whole had better individual singers snd harmony . Temptations were just those most marketed like the spinners . Ask any real singer and they will tell you the dramatics singers all had lead singer vocals .
Love the showmanship and percision of these fellows... I Love this video, and watch it often... Paul is my man, but I would've hung out with Melvin any day, he just looks like he would be fun to be with, and that SMILE !!!! also Paul and his moves, WOW !!!
Great! I’m glad you like this so much. This is one of my very favorite vocal performances I’ve ever heard, and to get a live clip of the whole song is incredible. They didn’t always sing live on tv so as soon as I could tell it wasn’t lip-synced I had to share it ❤️✌️
I'm a 65 yearly white woman and I enjoy this music too! My oldest brother used to do these moves in the living room when I was a little kid. Good times back then.
This is absolutely astonishing for a live performance done in the 1960s! Perfect vocals and perfect recording - Ruffin's voice is even more powerful here than on the original recording. It sounds so good I'd question if it was really live if I didn't see him clearly singing every syllable. Man, what a singer! And the group as a whole is a joy to watch, with harmonies and moves in perfect sync.
AH‼️ David Ruffin. I could watch him and the other guys perform all day and night long. The singing and dancing is superb 👩🏻🏫👏🏻🥰‼️ I can’t listen to Eddie Kendrick so easily as I do David though. His really high voice bothers my ears. Same with the really high sound of the violin. David’s high is fine. No problem. I guess it’s because it’s a lower range high or something. Doesn’t bother me when Eddie sings background with the other guys. The best Soul group in my opinion! Well, the Platters are great too! Love them as well!
Wow they slayed that!!! The days of live singing in concert and TV like that are all but gone. Too many artists dependent studio processing, are too afraid that they can't bring it live. So they lip sync the heck out of a lot of their live stuff, especially if it's televised.
