I used to live in AZ and I was recommended to go see this girl to handle my mortgage loan. I go in and I see her name, I only knew her first name, and it’s Pingree. I said, I know a Pingree from racing, she said, “that’s my brother.” The next day I go to see her I brought in an Article David had written for Racer X about Patriotism back in 2002-4 time frame! I’ve been a huge fan of his for a long time!
A couple of months ago I'm at Glen Helen and RV is on the kids track racing around with his kids on a pit bike and looked like he was having a blast for most of the day
Ping is a legend! Truly. BTW - what about doing a seniors league like they do for golf? You'd have all those guys out there on whatever bike they want and you'd get fans from all eras enjoying the hell out of it.
100%. Couldn't stand Villipoto when he was so serious in racing but the dude genuinely seems like he is being himself now and I like it. Seems like a great dude and approachable now too.
Probally my favorite champ in history his style was just badass how he stayed in higher gears and would put the power to the ground was just awesome. He's the first of the champs that never rode a 2 stroke in his pro career I think he was the first that learned the best style for a fourstroke
All of these retired pros should get together from Gary Jones on and do an “On Any Sunday” style documentary of them just play riding together just chasing the Nationals next year. They could all just do a “Celebrity” “races” (not really a race) at each National riding bikes from their own era and just have fun and bench race. Each race they could focus on 5 of the guys involved. You could even choose different riders from each era for each National. It would be insanely popular and you could make each video a pay per view etc.
You guy's are absolutely right! Villipoto was unapproachable during his Career. That is partly due to Aldon's mindset. I am buy no means dishing on Aldon. His approach worked short term for RV, RD, JA. It also burnt down the wheel house at some point. Any athlete can commit to a program for a certain period of time. Then it gets stale and moldy, like old bread and leaves a horrible taste in your mouth. That said I like retro Villipoto he looks like he is having the most fun of anybody.
Dang. I saw some brief clips of VP in that race, but is there a channel or link that has a bunch of the VP content? Also, what is bubba up to? He has seemed to disappear
I wish James Stewart would come back and do what Ryan is. It just sucks that a rider of James’ caliber just left the way he did. Never even really actually retired, he just left and you hardly ever hear from him again. And with Malcolm being as big as he is, you’d think James would be around at Malcolm’s races.
James has some deeper shit going on I have a feeling he thinks there’s racism! He’s probably the most beloved rider if not top 5 but I promise he feels otherwise!! He has serious animosity toward the industry I believe!

They've been laser focused racers since they were children, never allowed to "just have fun". Only after their careers can they discover the racing for the sheer joy of it.
Great podcast! Love hearing Ping talk, I vibe with the dude. Excellent, down to earth and level headed. Moto needs him. What we need is a brain trust podcast with Jase and all the influential people that he has interviewed in different aspects of the industry to pick moto up out of the shit and put it on a new path of excellence, there are some wide range of ideas from these podcast that could move the sport forward - implementation starts with ideas, it would be an awesome podcast none the less.
Jace, I very much like your show, and your guests. I know you don't give an f what we think. Fair enough. No problem. I cuss a bit too, but it gets excessive, and tiring. It lowers the enjoyment of the after a bit. When you talk for a living, it's nice if the speaker can use the language more adeptly. I'll still listen for sure, but it actually makes me have to turn it off and maybe come back after a bit. I'm sure I'm alone on this, but I think you have more to offer.
Agree, it's like he over uses the F word to prove how progressive his show is, when his show is already great without F bombing every other word. It also seems like the guests jump on the F train too.
I will say McGrath has a bunch of stuff up buy he seems to stay in the game too. Racing mammoth and working with maxxis and such. I saw a vid the other day of him riding an eMtb
So hopefully there is some reciprocation here and Jase will make an appearance on Whiskey Throttle? I think he would have some rad stories on his time in the states filming in the industry? Lets make it happen!
They spend every day for that first 25+ years of their life riding/racing/training, constantly being abused by their trainers and team managers(if your in the Baker/ Decoster camp)to win and do better, putting up with obnoxious fans,neglecting family & friends. and you wonder why have such a bitter taste for the sport they sacrificed everything for. None of the front guys are out there having fun any more they are trying to make a nest egg hoping they can set themselves and their family up to start living their life as early as possible.JS7 made enough $ to leave and never come back, the rest of them obviously didn't.
I've felt that way when I saw a clip on YT of McGrath at his house. He's been so successful but it was kind of sad to see him walk through his house and it's just all this stuff from the 90's and his racing career. It's like he's living in the past every day when he gets up and walks through that house. I don't know, I couldn't live like that, that's for sure.

and the saddest part of it was that ping was there when his dad passed. ping gave him cpr and tried to recessitate him. it really shook him up. if you watch his episode of RV on the WTS he talks about it and was getting choked up.

Yeah people building trying to sad. What they should do is put them in museums so people can actually see him instead of you the winner seeing them every day you walked by him which you already know what you did so it’s probably just stroke in Higo and that’s where the spiral comes from.
I don't swear in all of the clips you don't watch... also, the UFC seems to be doing fine with their CEO swearing, Barstool Sports also seems to be doing fine... It's a preference thing and I respect if your preference is content without swearing, but thats not what this content is.

Either way your guest have something to say and I'd love to hear it, but when I have to cut the video short because my wife and kids are in the car it takes away from what you are presenting. It is your platform and you can do what you want to do with it, but what value does that type of language bring to the show?
