Story:
Sirius didn’t understand, that was clear from the look in his eyes when Regulus had said “I’m a boy.” He’d decided to get straight to the point, “blunt like your mother” was how Bella had described him. Still Sirius didn’t understand he’d said so.
“Why not?” Regulus asked, almost a whisper as he cast his gaze down to where Sirius had dropped his hand leaving it alone to grasp at air.
Sirius was silent. He didn’t know what to say, Regina was his sister. He could wrap his head around the fact that the person standing behind him wasn’t his sister who hummed to him after a bright red light flashed in his peripheral vision and suddenly all he felt was fear. His sister was gone. Because of what? He didn’t know, he knew that Regulus had tried to explain but he had cut him off and turned around.
“Siri?” Said Regulus his voice falling to nearly imperceptible smallness.
Sirius ignored him.
“I wish you were a girl.” Sirius said. Then this would all be less confusing, then I would understand, then I wouldn’t lose my baby sister.
Sirius Orion Black: “unaware of the world around you, too focused on yourself to understand.” Was how Bellatrix had described him. And it was true because unbeknownst to him Regulus had tears falling down his cheeks, his big brother had been less supportive of his transition than their Mother. In fact she’d encouraged it, cut his hair, only cast crucio once, and agreed to help him getting rid of the parts of him that he hated.
She’d helped.
Sirius had turned away and left.
The next few weeks would be hard Sirius would avoid Regulus. A lot. Then their cousins would come and Sirius would have no choice. Bellatrix didn’t care, Narcissa was proud, and Andy smiled and then explained to Sirius what exactly Regulus had done. Sirius would run towards his brother and hug him and apologize in every language he could, do more than usual, be the big brother Regulus deserved.
