Another well-delivered story, thank you, LH. The protagonist is as bright as a string of Christmas lights with one bulb. What part of, "If we don't leave now, we're gonna die" could he not understand? I was on the edge of my seat rooting for whatever was the "bad guy", then I realized, this author had me hook line, and sinker. Didn't think I even liked the story until I realized how invested I had become in the main plot. How blind we can become to the world around us when we can only see ourselves at the center. Kudos to the author.

@Giuliano Skywalker IDK John maybe but from what he described you just need a car. Perhaps the creature chases after the employees who attempt to leave but isn't fast enough to follow a car or it must reside within a radius of the store. In any case, Lee (was that the name?) made the mistake of entering and that was the catalyst for imprinting.

Word to the wise, when you are running out out gas just push the needle back over to full, it will trick the engine into running, big government wants you to think you need gasoline to drive.

This story was weird. He didn't have a family, his parents died and we don't know how. He's homeless, but he has a car. I guess he's living in his car. He's broke but he has an iPhone. He has to have a mailing address since he has a debit card.

I need to learn how to read that fluently. I sound like a broken record trying to read when a record scratch sound effect is being played on full volume through a hundred, or so portable speakers. Great story whoever wrote it, and great narration Lighthouse.

I'm not sure how lighthouse does it, but I would say the key is to not read word by word. You learn to know the "structure" of a sentence just by glancing at it, the whole thing is a "signature", it's a single symbol no different than a single letter in a word. Just another level of organization. Like you're looking at a full eye as such, instead of a bunch of cells. So as you're reading the sentence aloud you've already read ahead and made a loose template, and going word by word, you're just walking through that "path" one by one. Most of it is not done on the fly. Other things can then be sprinkled in as you go along and it may come to you. I'm definitely no narrator though, but that's how I read. It's not letter by letter, word by word. The whole sentence is as a word itself, and I see it all at once.

I’m from Covington GA just east of Atlanta. Had to go see where this place is as compared to my home town. It’s about 3 hours away from there and 5 1/2 away from me in Biloxi where I live lol. No chance to go thru there so whew!

The over description, repetitive mention of his Honda, the character himself being a pretentious drunk driving idiot, and parts he does describe at times not making sense the story is not for me. LH does a great job reading it though and honestly I love his southern scratchy voice he does.
