funnily enough what he said about the head on collision is perfectly true despite what stupid chat says lol. Literally the same thing has happened with titanic. They tried to avoid the iceberg and tore the side of the ship flooding too many compartments. Both ships would have had a much greater chance of survival had they hit head on instead of the sides
Don't know how accurate this is but still, if the helmsman hadn't turned the wrong way first the decision would've been correct, apparently. So surprisingly both would've worked...
6:53 They say if the Titanic hit the iceberg head on it would have been able to stay afloat, but they tried to avoid it and ended up ripping open the entire side of the ship
@@Materialist39 Took you hard minute to think that one up huh 33 to be precise and that's all you could come up with damn that's sad I'm not even gonna say anything 🤣
Ik this video is 5 months ago but watching this now. Atrioc was so right hitting head on 6:50 one of the main reasons the titanic sank was that it tried to avoid the ice berg by turning but the iceberg cut the side of the ship leading it to sink. If they would have hit straight on the boat wouldn’t have went down at all or at the very least go down slower then it did.
Or you know heed the warnings from numerous other ships but instead told them (not joking) to shut the fuck up because the telegram operators where to busy sending messages from the rich peoples to other rich people in the US.
Yes and no, hitting it head on would have been a better outcome than the one that happened, but an even better outcome would have been avoiding the collision altogether, which they were very close to doing, also just straight up ramming a rock you have a decent chance of avoiding sounds like a great way to be sued for up to half a billion dollars by multi-billionaires
Nice video! This is an excellent example of what fair use is. Not those people that watch the entire thing and add 2 comments at the end. You show as little of the original content as necessary, here it’s just like 20% of the original video, and all the times it is shown is to make comments on it. Great job whoever edited this. Makes a great promo for the original video.
@@eleonarcrimson858 not traditional 'react' content. Commentary videos can be but its complicated and subjective. If it's criticism or review, its probably going to be fine, though almost none of these cases actually go to court.
Been watching these RU-vid highlights for a week now and decided to pop into the stream today to see what was up. I don’t really go on twitch but I thought I’d give it a try. The whole stream was so funny dude I had a lot of fun watching. I’ll definitely be back in the future
Hitting the rocks with the bow would actually be the best way. There is a collision bulkhead separating the bow from the rest of the hull, which is stronger than normal bulkheads.
Scraping frontal would definitely have been better than what accually happened, but remember, what happened happened only because of poor communication, they were trying to dodge the rocks entirely!
Damn it’s really harder to get into ur local community college than retain a job as captain of a cruise ship.... and the punishment for cheating at said community college is more strict than killing people on board lol
He actually went back and changed the thumbnail to “Those rocks look sus” lmao that’s hilarious whoever mentioned that when he was making the thumbnail on stream deserves credit
This was my first Atrioc video and we’ve come along way from here. I thought this vid in my recommended was gonna be some like meh reaction but Atrioc was unironically funny watching his reactions
People were laughing at at riot for saying you would want to collide head on. But that is actually what is thought that the titanic tried to do but didn’t quite make it. And they think that would have saved the ship since only one compartment would have flooded.
Thing is... You're not wrong in hitting bow rather than stern, in that situation you want to minimise contact and damage so going head in or trying to slam the ship against the rocks and hoping to bounce off are actually better options to a scrape... It's not garrenteed, but it's just generally better odds... Course at that point you want to be calling muster stations immediately as you are committing to a crash for the purpose of preserving the ship longer to successfully evacuate.
7:10 i know this is two years late but yes actually if you head on it you contain the damage to one or two water tight doors and the ship probably wouldn't've sank
I don’t think Atrioc was thinking about the weight of a cruise ship when he was ramping it off the rock 😭 imagine 200,00 gross tons (448,000,000 lbs) of metal going 16 knots (18 mph) into a rock it would crush its self like stomping a soda can i would have to imagine but damn that would be somethin else
16:54 I'm amazed that you're the first reactor I've seen point this out. Like why the f*ck is he even being prosecuted. He didn't even know half of what was going on. If anything prosecute the idiot who hired him. I was happy he got away. LMAO XD.
You called the guy waiting outside the prison a speedrunner, does this mean that people getting parole should be added to a leaderboard since they speedrun their sentence faster?
Chat was totally wrong, hitting the rocks head on would have saved it. The reason they didn't is that unlike the swing manouvre, it's not sanctioned and is considered intentionally damaging the ship, so if he had struck them head on, the ship would have survived but his career and possibly the career of the entire rest of the bridge crew would have been over so they didn't even consider it
I was a sailer for a few years on the 230-300 metre bulkers, loaded they’re only 40,000-130,000 tons, it took over 2 miles to come to a dead stop. I can’t imagine how long a fuckin CRUISE SHIP would take lmao They definitely threw for content
Don't forget this occurred on Friday the 13th of 2012 on the 100 year anniversary of the titanic sinking, and My Heart Will Go On was actually playing while this was happening lmao
atrioc was right, if he hit the front part, just like the titanic, only 2 or 3 non important actions would flood. still have power and will probably stay afloat
I wish this was a full reaction to the video. I'm speaking for myself here, but I'd have liked to see the whole reaction with context as to what's happening in the video
