The twist ending at the end of the Long Long Man ads also answered Atriocs question about shaming the regular size Sakeru Gummies, basically showing that the Long Long Man and the Groom are good for each other since they both appreciate the size of the Sakeru Gummies, unlike the bride. Truly a 5Head ad
Don't know if you've missed it, but the ending card of each commercial goes from 'short VS long' to 'short AND long'. It really adds another level to the whole final episode.
@@unity2808 Yeah it was nonsensical, but I saw it as a major meme. And honestly, I think the best thing a brand can do for an ad is to make it into a meme and people will like it more/remember it longer. But its definitely a hard task
I think a big problem with viral ads is that if it doesn't relate enough to your brand the ad becomes famous on its own, and the brand gets almost none of the benefits (e.g. TheLegend27 is a legendary meme, but I can't remember which of the shitty mobile games it's from). And that's the beauty of the Long Long man ad series. Not only did it make me want to try some of those bad boys, but I know exactly what to look for in the shop, and I won't forget what brand it is if its mentioned again.
nowhere near finishing the video but i can already tell this is gonna be a great edit! the video takes the time to rest on the funny small moments that don't necessarily move the video forwards "plot" wise (the big contrast to this to me is the SM64 hide and seek, a great edit, but very much about getting through each round instead of drawing things out a little longer to admire stuff like wario eating his own ass). I know this is so much harder to do with gaming content, but I really like this style of editing where it's not about just getting from each point in the stream/story of whatever's going on, but instead it leaves in moments that would otherwise be cut, which changes the pacing a bit and makes the videos a lot more entertaining
The biggest problem with Puppy Monkey Baby is that all the buzz it generated didn’t create buzz for the brand. The ad was talked about for over a month, but people forgot that it was a Mountain Dew ad on day 2.
I think one of my favourite ad strategies is "how can we steal brand recognition from other companies so that they pay for ads and we get the benefit". For example, a lot of people would think of Nike as an official Olympic partner, and one of the core brands of the Olympics, but they've never been an Olympic sponsor, and just steal the Olympic brand recognition by running ads that make it seem like they're linked without outright lying and saying they are
Especially knowing where it is coming from. Japan is the only G7 country that doesn't recognize same sex marriage. It still mostly believes in the strength of a "traditional" family. People always confuse Asian cultures to be progressive sexually, because of how little they care about what you do behind closed doors, but it isn't the same as actually supporting LGBTQ people. You are still expected to live a traditional lifestyle.
to be fair, the puppy monkey baby thing is very memorable. It's 2021 and I still remember how terrible it was. I don't remember the brand but I remember the maraca.

I wish you had seen some of the Nike football (soccer) ones like the iconic Brazil national team in the airport or winner stays on (one of my favourite ads ever). Also Nike did a specific one for the people of London which was great to watch.

puppy monkey baby was something my grandparents showed me when i was young and it was loved. I saw it at school multiple times and it really was funny back then.. I think times have changed, I remembered the add immediately and also knew it wouldnt be funny.
I’m not sure if it was mentioned in the original stream, but the two that were my all time favorites are “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” and the Super Bowl Tide ads
The Corona Extra Christmas commercial that plays every year of a single lit palm tree on a deserted island has to be in contention for one of the all-time greats
I'd add that not only did the gummy ad not make the original product bad after all, they also featured gay representation right at the start of the LGBTQ+ movement.
I really like the video the title and thumbnail work together really well plust the tags were good too masterclass is the only one that is a little iffy but it works not too terrible. The editing is done pretty well done the one criticism i have with it is that when atrioc is talking after the pole is done you could zoom in a little more and for a little longer but other than that very well edited and overall very very good video. atriocLove

The way I know puppy monkey baby was horrible is the fact that I only now realized it was Mountain Dew and thought it was it’s own horrible drink for years.
