Iain Dale furiously rows with Labour MP Andy McDonald over the MP's views about the 12th December general election defeat.
Iain Dale took on Labour MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Transport Andy McDonald in a fiery call over Johnson's defeated plans for a 12 December general election.
The MP specifically irked Iain when insisting the general election should be moved forward in order to accommodate for students voting in their university town.

I'm one of the students he's talking about. I registered to vote. Students spend all their time on the internet anyway, if they can't be bothered to register that's their problem. And no, I did not vote Labour.

TheTofucheese Yeah, and if students who would no doubt spend more time than anyone on the internet couldn't be bothered to register, then what makes us think they'd be responsible enough to not vote mindlessly? It's interesting that they focus on the fact that the number of students/young people drop off with the registration requirement. Why does it only affect young people? Old people have stuff they need to do too. It's almost like it's a filter for those people who don't give a fck, which what a surprise, is often an aspect of young people who generally have less experience than their older counterparts to research or to even care. Young people eventually become old people so it's not like it's a group they're stuck in anyway.

@@peterholden9357 OK... there were those three Pakistani councillors in Peterborough who got prison time for vote rigging a couple of years back; there was Lutfur Rahman in Tower Hamlets who, I think, narrowly avoided jail for the same offence, and a number of other instances of vote rigging in favour of Labour over the years.

@@bemused3865 In the States they work three Jobs. I worked in a Zambian bush hospital for a year...I am eternally grateful for a great country with amazing opportunities...I do however think minimum wages should rise with the cost of living... but even if this happens people will still drink and smoke away their money and then shout poverty.

Mindless ! They would go on line to get grants and funding when required ! I fully agree to register is no hardship ! The problem with Labour is they know they are on the ropes and will loose a high number of seats & ID for voting should be law you need ID to drink, fly and drive so why not to vote it makes sense !

I think the age of seniority should be raised back to 21. After 25 years teaching in UK secondary schools I realise how lacking they are in proportion, common sense, and basic knowledge.

Yes it’s legal to be on multiple electoral rolls and it’s permissible to vote in each constituency except in a general election which is illegal. Whether people do vote multiple times in a GE is unknown, as far as I’m aware there are no measures in place to cross check electoral rolls.

If people cannot be bothered to make sure they are legible to vote, then they deserve to be left out of the process. The Labour guy was as patronising as could be towards students. They will do their utmost to have their say and as Ian says it only takes a few minutes on line.

“Let’s have a bit of sense” Takes 2 mins literally to sign up online and I mean that literally not figuratively. If people do not have ID why should they be allowed a vote? ID makes sense to me to eliminate voter fraud.

I find this MPs explanation of Students' votes being disfranchised really dishonest taking into account how the opposition has disfranchised 17.4 million votes of the people who voted Leave in the referendum. Corrupt to the core springs to mind.
