I've noticed a lot of students--even ones who understand rhythm in music--have a hard time hearing meter in verse. THIS IS SO CLEAR AND SO USEFUL. Thank you for your service.
Wow thank you Glenn! So glad it’s clear and will be helpful for your students 🥰🙏 I appreciate you watching and commenting and generally being awesome. Anon, fellow Shakespeare devotee! ♥️
Thank you Deborah! 🥰 It makes my DAY to hear that you learned so much and that your heartbeat is officially "synced" 💜 I really appreciate you watching and commenting. MWAH!
Absolutely! *Clip clop clip clop* 🐴👏 Fun fact: the meter/rhythm of a horse’s GALLOP (dee dee DUM dee dee DUM) is the anomaly known as an ANAPEST 😍 More about that in my Midsummer tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X4Dt37KR7Aw.html
wow this is an awesome breakdown! I learned about iambic pentameter in HS but really didn't understand it until now! the heartbeat thing is incredible!
So glad to hear this was helpful! 😍❤️ It's a pretty incredible, huh? Grateful that I was able to present it in a way that finally made sense. Thank you so much for commenting and letting me know. Makes my day 🙏
So glad you’re just as geeked about the Richard III anomaly as I am!!! Excited to have you on the channel 🥰🙏✨ I really appreciated you watching and commenting.
I told him as such. He’s now a subscriber, so hopefully his life will now be illumined with the joy of anomalies 😁 Thank you for watching and commenting Rebecca! Very happy to hear that you learned so much.
I’m getting ready to read Paradise Lost and was having a hard time understanding Iambic Pentameter after watching a few videos and going to a few web pages. You finally explained it in a way that finally penetrated this thick skull of mine lol. Thanks!
James, I’m so glad to hear this 🥰🙌✨ I really appreciate you watching and commenting. This makes my day to know that my video helped you finally understand iambic pentameter 💖✅ Bravo! This is one of my FAVORITE videos I’ve ever made, so this comment means extra to me. See you back on the channel soon!
YAY LOL! I’m beyond happy picturing you proudly yelling answers back at my face 😁👍 Thank you so much for watching and commenting and being an awesome Shake-splorer Becca ♥️
I knew almost none of that prior to this video! That’s so interesting! I can’t imagine writing hundreds of pages with a specific rythm in mind… howww!?!? Nice HD btw! :>)
I didn't quite understand why, "i WANT to BUY my DOG a LOVE-ly TREAT," receives stresses in the syllables you highlighted (except for "LOVE-ly" since that's given in its definition). It's one of my main sources of confusion is with respect to monosyllabic words. For example, "I" seems like it could receive syllabic emphasis sometimes and not in others. Ex: " _I_ am _the_ king," vs. "I _am_ the _king_ ". Both the trochaic and iambic readings seem valid to me. Even a dactylic-style reading seems valid and interesting with, " _I_ am the _king_ ", emphasizing "I" and "king", as with the case of, " _I_ am the _hu_ mourous _king_ of the _sky_ ."
Forsooth! 😜 Yes, I'm hoping to do a whole series on scansion. See-eth you there 😁 Thank you so much for watching, David, and for your sweet, generous comment! Means the world coming from you. (**THIS IS MY SHAKESPEARE GURU Y'ALL!**) Looking forward to our interview coming out soon ♥️
You're welcome 😎💥 Thanks for watching Caleb! And for admiring my new gear. This camera is amazing. Excited to learn how to ACTUALLY use it, ha... but grateful for the chance to dive right in! (p.s. That last line was in iambic pentameter 😏)
