I've watched five videos today in an attempt to understand why I cannot figure out scansion stresses and this is the first to help me out. I'm learning how to write classical poetry and I've finished my first poem in years but as I go back through it, I cannot figure when something "should" be stressed or unstressed and it's making it very difficult for me to review my work. I appreciate this video and I hope one day your channel's popularity reflects the quality of the content you publish.

Iambic meter usually has occasional "dents" or breaks from the strict meter to make it more human. If it were too robotic or "perfect" it would be grating on the nerves.

Thanks. As a Pakistani dude, it's even tougher to catch the rhyme intuitively. Most of our verses are end rhymes -- couplets being the most common.

Thank you for the insight. (Of cause Shake-speare is just one of the many pen names of Edward De Vere) :)
