Sally Cinnamon..... To me, Sally Cinnamon means a love that everybody has encountered. Sally Cinnamon is everybodys one "true" love. we all have them and if you can live life with your "Sally" then your life is complete.... never let them go. We all have a "Sally Cinnamon" it was the Roses that made us realise
The Stone Roses are one of the best bands the world has seen. Brown is a musical genius. yeah his voice is the best in the world but for what he sings it is almost spot on,and this song shows just how much of a great songwriter he is. Sally Cinnamon is one of the best song ever written. The lyrics along with that melody show how Brown and Squire were excellent song writers together but unfortunately cannot put aside there differences and rejoin and blow the world away.
Brown with a body of good solo stuff behind him already and nothing more to prove is onstage at Glasto and the chords to this classic chime over us. The hairs were standing up on my neck.
Hearing this makes me melancholic in a way. To think that the guys who recorded music as great as this will never create together again. It's a bit sad. One can always hope though.
Oasis and Stone Roses = Godlike. Not sure why people would be fighting over the two. They're good friends and are amazing bands of their time. Long live Rock N' Roll.
IT DOSE NT MATTER 1 BIT ABOUT HIS SINGING ITS THE STORY IN THE SONGS . AND THE 1 AND ONLY JOHN SQUIRE THAT MAKE THEM THE BEST BAND EVER TO COME OUT OF MANCHESTER
I think it does matter what the song is about, how can you say it doesnt, how can you possibly understand music especially complex stuff like the roses if you dont even care to know what its all about. Have fun just 'listening'
I'm from the north, but I personally prefer the southern bands. Especially those of the 60's/70's. They had a much more bluesy element, compared to the Northern bands, which were more on the pop side.
ian brown IS a legend of that there is no doubt apparently though, he DOESN'T play stone roses tunes anymore live because his solo stuff is better and he doesn't believe in nostalgia :-( i was banned from the ian brown forum for suggesting he should if you want to see roses tunes live, you now need to see a tribute band - howw gutting is that?!?!?!
I love this man but hes past it, it hurts me to say it :( i saw him live last week he played only one roses song "fools gold" i hope they never reform because they will never sound as good as they were, let us remember them ending as a brilliant band not as a failed reformation
He can play them all, but gererally doesnt as it usually promoting his latest album, he has done a gig in the past with all roses tracks, but as far as i know that was a one off, usually he plays no more than 2 roses tracks, whichever one's he decides.
He most certainly isn't!! I can assure you "it" doesn't taste of cherryade!!! And - if it was cocaine, what does the reference "then I put the letter back in the place where it was found, in the pocket, of the jacket......" come into effect?? waterfall is about Ecstasy, this tune isn't about drugs
@AcidHouseMatt I bought the Stone Roses CD in 91 before you were even born, mate. They've been one of my favourite bands ever since, and I really don't appreciate being called a Nob'Ed just because I don't agree with you about how good Ian Brown is/is not as a singer. There's no need for it, and it just makes you look the Nob'Ed and not me. And no, I was not there, but were you? I'm guessing probably not, as you'd have been about 11. Enough said.
Cocaine? i always thought sally cinnamon to be a metaphor, is not a girl or person in particular called sally, we all have a sally cinnamon in our lives. thats what ive always observes the lyrics to be about
Ian Brown isn't the best singers, we all know it, but in comparison with LIAM GALLAGHER (OASIS) he still can song all of his songs. I am glad that after 10years from now I will be able to hear Brown's songs live, in good quality as opposed to LIAM. That's a shame.
@paulph12002 Mate read what I said.. I didnt call you a Nob 'ed I said dont be a Nob 'd.. Theres no point saying on a video of there tunes how you think hes not got the best voice. No infact I wasnt. but I was born in the hacienda, manchester, 30 june 1995. at one of the roses gigs. well my mum started getting contractions or whatever. and ive been to glastonbury in 2004 at the age of 10 so really age has nout to do with anything. So Enough said.
I love the lyrics to this song, but Ian has to be one of the most akward front men around both singinwise and dancewise. He is cool though. I saw him one time and he was stoned out of his mind.
Ian Brown is without doubt a much better songwriter than singer. His singing was just about OK on the studio songs but never any good live, and here he just sounds like a foghorn.
@paulph12002 Mate dont be a Nob 'ed was you there? Guessing no, He would have sounded alot better there. Personally think hes got a top voice. And if it was any different the music wouldnt go. his voice and Squires guitar were a unique sound.
Thr Roses/Ian Brown are not about MUFC ..... how long will it take people to realise that? Brown and Reni are United fans but the songs are not written for/about any football team. So, any MUFC fan, the legend that is the music is not about you and please stop trying to steal "This Is The One". PS - BLuuuuuuee Moon, I saw you staaaaaaaaaannnnnding alone ............
@mrplow2000 Whats your point? That Man Ure "famous fans" are "better" than City's? Idiotic post. Brown is a legend as is Reni, Squire and Mani. So is Morrissey and Maher. Throw in Noel and you have a set of composite musicians. Who gives a toss what football team they support?
The good ones are a little bit odd. Look at Liam Gallagher; how much more off can his voice be than Ian Brown. Look how weird Liam can get. As far as Damon Alburn goes, hes even stranger than Thom Yorke. It was a decade ago but he moved his single 'country house' release date up with Oasis' 'roll with it'. Alburn can be alouf; a snob. Which is worse? The Stone Roses is still the best since the 80's.
The modern day Mick Jagger. Who gives a fuck if he can hold a note? Not me. A modern day genious that shows Liam G to be the punk he is. Lennon would have copied Ian, had been allowed to.
@TheBeesKnees691 Oasis are mostly bland crap. They had about three good tunes in the beginning thats it. Stone Roses worst tunes are better than Oasis best. Loads of bland acts were bigger than Stone Roses but the Roses had real talent, they just fucked it up.
LOL, what a cretin. As if i didnt know, his 2nd team are you're mob,i really could care less. I manage to differentiate my music from my football, will leave that to you bigots. Ian Brown, Legend.
Nice version, but I just watched Roses Finland '90 version of this. Everything's alright apart from how shit the drummer seems compared to Reni - but when you're up against genius, you always look average.
