Well fun fact: the writers said they tried to break them up. Mickey was only a temporary background character like his sister but the fans fought for them on the internet.
@@trillxfizzy yeah I read about that too Mickey and Ian was never supposed to last this long they was supposed to be temporary but the fans fell in love so much that they made a love story out of it. It was adorable they were the only reason many people watched the show
I love how Ian was the one who (kinda) pushed Mickey to come out and Mickey now pushing Ian to get married. Like, they both have fears, and sometimes, maybe, all we need is a little push.
I don’t want to say Ian did everything right, but I understand why he still can’t be with Mickey. He was born in the family where father was an alcoholic and mother had bipolar disorder. He saw everything what happened with his parents. I think Ian can’t do it because he doesn’t want to turn Mickey’s life into a nightmare like Monica did. The saddest thing is that Ian thinks he’s not worth to be with Mickey. I hope one day he’ll understand he’s not that bad and can live with Mickey happily forever, both of them worth to be happy 😊
Man, everyone is hating on Ian. I 100% see where he comes from. Not having good role models growing up, having a mental illness that makes you question everything always, I totally get his hesitation. I’ve been in a similar situation. Be it less intense. We are who we are. Obviously Mickey deserves to be happy but that’s who Ian is. That’s how life moulded him
All l know is they better end up together this season DAMN IT! I can’t take it anymore. They can do this back and forth all season, but at the end there have better be a wedding! In the name of all that’s holly that’s all lm still holding on for!

OK! I found a role for Debbie. She saw Mickey react when Fiona told him Ian might be bi-polar. She told Mickey he can't drink Ian away. She was at the hospital when Ian was committed. She can knock clarity into Ian's head about everything Mickey went through for Ian. I still love Debbie and I have seen bits of wisdom in her. She can knock some sense into both these guys.
It's so sad not one of you seem to understand Ian. He loves Mickey, that's not the question. But he doesn't love HIMSELF and doesn't want Mickey to be have to put up with him. He thinks Mickey could do better. He's finally voicing his insecurity he's had since he was a teenager and people still give him shit.

I think Ian's biggest issue is he sees himself as Monica. Shameless is big on character parallels & where Lip is Frank, Ian is Monica. There's a lot of characters who are similar in the family at one time or another & a lot of relationships that mirror their parents whether they like it or not. In the beginning of the show Fiona says to Ian that he "looks" the most like her which scares Frank as an explanation for why Frank has the worst relationship with him. Then the fact that Ian is the only Gallagher kid with a Bipolar diagnosis like Monica. He knows how much pain Monica put them all through. Whether that's with her up & leaving, stealing from them, etc. Mickey isn't Frank to him but he's Monica so I think the fear thing comes from loving Mickey too much to hurt him. The marriage issue isn't that he doesn't love Mickey enough but that he loves him too much & not himself not to hurt him.
ian only has frank and monica to go off of, as an actual married couple and as lovers with one dealing with bipolar. it's all ian's ever known and he saw how frank worsened through time and he doesn't want to hurt mickey like monica hurt frank
@@Oreo-vh7rk but I mean, think about when he pressured Mickey into coming out and he did because he loved him or the countless times Mickey has showed how committed he is to the relationship and yet Ian keeps on leading Mickey on like with the marriage thing and like in season 7. I get that he's scared and that because of his mental health he doesn't think he deserves love but in my opinion Mickey has showed commitment many times and Ian just lets him down in the most important situations and when precisely when Mickey is expecting Ian to take a step further

I’m the staunchest Mickey defender because it’s obvious the guy will love Ian no matter what, but I really understood how Ian’s pain and insecurities run super deep, thanks to Cameron’s emotions acting this episode. He’s grown a lot as an actor.
I love both of them, but I'm on Mickey's side and people need to stop making excuses for Ian, as if Mickey didn't come from the same background...I mean Mickey also has a shitty parent with no mother around, yet he still goes after what he wants...this marriage will be a do over for both of them to choose their own family this time around, well I hope so🤞🤞

As for this season, I know we have been on a bit of a Gallavich emotional rollercoaster, but I can see now how everything is coming together. I am grateful for the commitment demonstrated by both of these gifted actors and the Shameless writers. It shows they know the importance of making this relationship work for their dedicated viewers. This entire video is my thoughts exactly. It's not each other they're second guessing, nor their own love for each other. It was outside factors they were both scared of. It's the same thing, but in reverse - this time it's Ian instead of Mickey. He's not afraid of Mickey - just marriage and his own family history. But no matter what Mickey had always been solidly ride or die with no hesitation for Ian. Doesn't matter what you think of yourself, only that you solidly love the other person with all the fuckin' versions of you. Mickey knows who and what he is, and still to him, his love for Ian is his own redeeming factor, his salvation, his favorite part of himself, his most important thing to ever live for. That's what he wants to see from Ian. Not his self-doubt but that inspite of that that Mickey will always be the most important thing to Ian. Ian just needs to see that.
For Mickey to turn that ring down, while it hurt to see it, Ian still doesnt fully understand what he wants. Sad because Mickey has been there for everything, seen him go through his disorder, and became the man who Ian has wanted to be.....his boyfriend out in the open and no longer hiding it, even thrown himself in JAIL just to be with him. Mickey has known since season 5 that Ian is the only man he will ever love, good, bad or indifferent. Now its Ian's turn to make that journey....but for God's sake make it quick already!!!

This episode was so freaking emotional! I understand why Mick is upset with Ian, but I don't like how he isn't willing to hear Ian out. I think he wanted to marry Ian so badly that when Ian changed his mind at that moment Mick just assumed Ian didn't love him enough like he was saying this episode. But I don't know why Mick is in such a rush, especially since Ian offered him a promise ring. I hope next episode is better!!
I would kill for Ian to Tell Mickey sorry for bein a hypocrite and doing every single thing he wanted Mickey to changem Ian always needed someone's reassurance on decisions.
The Gallagher's can never just be happy. They always have to f it up somehow. Everyone else is collateral damage. Ian pisses me off so much. Mickey has always been there for him, through everything! And yet he still questions his intentions. It's so ridiculous. After 10 seasons you'd think we'd be used to it by now.
ugh!! all my babies are going through so much heartbreak right now!! I am so sad and don't know how much more I can take. Ian/Mickey, Brad/Lucas, Will/Sonny, and Ben/Callum is just too many at one time. I hate even one going through a rough patch but this is definitely overkill for me. the head writers and showrunners of each show better fix their respective relationships quick

Any one else wanna punch ian? Mickey has stayed with him since season 4. He broke out for prison for him, wanted to leave for Mexico for him, went back to prison for him, and then still wanted to get married even tho hes had a bad experience with it. Ian keeps pushing him away.
