@@kewlbreez77 🤣Yes, there will be riots soon in old people's homes on this matter👍It is all subjective of course BUT how can you possibly list the Beatles when the man there said "Hard Rock Band"? The Stones? Fair challenge for the crown. Who & Led Zep? Sprawling, arrogant, self-indulgent wank, bordering on prog rock. Purple came in, gave you a swift, hard, kick in the bollicks & then got on with the next tune.🤟 Whereas LZ & the who wrote rock operas & 15 minute long songs to show us how utterly fantastic they were. Discuss 🤣 (And no, you may not use Deep Purple & the Royal Philharmonic at the Albert Hall in your argument. That would be...inconvenient to my position 🤣❤)
Ritchie Blackmore was the best guitarist of the 1970s! Deep Purple was the best live act of that decade as well. Ritchie is the original heavy metal shredder. What tone.
As in John Entwhistle of the Who, greatest Rock N Roll bassist ever, who w/ Keith Moon, make up one of the 2 greatest rhythm sections in rock n roll history… the other being John Bonham & John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin.
But, to be honest - he was just messing around, nothing great about it musically. Do I see that one of his strings has gone? Maybe that's the reason why he did that?
Deep Purple was such a perfect band.. so sad all the fights and breakups.. it had it all.. vocals like Ian Gillan, the best drummer imo Ian Paice, possibly one fo the best mans behind the keyboard like Jon Lord ( RIP ) of course Roger Glover's badass bass! and the best Guitarist to ever step in this planet.. Ritchie Blackmore.. Ill never get over how amazing the whole Made In Japan album sounds.. its too good.. the solo of highway star.. everything lol best live album EVER!
Finally another Deep Purple fan on youtube who feels the same way I do about these five great musicians, Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord(RIP), and Pace. Great comment my purple blooded friend.💜
Ritchie is great...but Jimi Hendrix's influence is big ...in the way he moves himself on stage and in the way treats his guitar!.....Not only Ritchie was influenced to Jimi b
Blackmore would have never played this way, had he not seen Hendrix do it first tho.. No one would.. That's why Hendrix was special. He pretty much laid the blueprint for electric guitar..
Blackmore n Lords classical training coming to the fore and Pacy showing off his jazz background, one of the best left handed drummers around. Plus the best football player to grace the field. George Best
According to certain publications, Blackmore had a tube-powered reel-to-reel tape recorder he plugged into, and from there the signal went to his amp. That was the “secret weapon”.
This is insanely ahead of its time. The people’s faces say it all. They’ve never seen musicianship like that before. Normally bands have one member that stands out. Here they have Paice, Lord and Blackmore... (sorry roger)
Jon Lord was classically trained, Blackmore is a very knowledgeable musician, and Paice is a fantastic drumer, proving you don't have to hit the drums hard in order to play hard rock.
I don't think the folk in the audience had a clue about what they were seeing and hearing....what a wonderful slice of free expression by the masters that were DP
And in front of the children! These days it would seem inappropriate to expose children to such musical ferocity, you might expect to be arrested! Again this is pure brilliance and the energy and inspiration are beyond anything that's out there now! Really check out the young kids out front, does this kind of scene exist nowadays?
nowadays kids are allowed to listen to rap music telling them to kill cops and rape girls, this is allowed now, but real music doesn't exist anymore because the system decided it in that way.
