Excellent++ video! I have the same behavior where I spend hours and hours doing A/B tests. I want the best receiving experience! I can make FTdx3000 sound excellent but it requires some reduction in RF Gain, some increase using the Contour Boost, maybe some IF shift on CW, and careful selection of the roofing filter matched to the DSP filter width. My computer program sets these for me after I find the best balance. I had less luck with IC7300 which sounds like the IC705 from this video, however I learned that for CW the AGC can be turned off and then the AF gain can be reduced. Doing this removes some of that noisy background low frequency rumble that causes fatigue. That TS-180S was from a short production and is very surprising with it's goodness...
Thank you very much for all the useful information! The FTdx3000 seems to have a lot of features and could be even better depending on the settings. The method of reducing AF gain with AGC off reminds me of the method used in vintage receivers. Very interesting!. Thank you.

Also, it seems from the videos I watch, the IC7300 is very tolerant of CW with the AGC off, few adjustments are required using the RF Gain, but the IC7610 for some reason requires more changes while listening. I assume this would also be the reality with IC-705. On SSB, the IC7300 always sounds thinner or less rich than FTdx3000 but still excellent for most guys.
Thank you for the interesting comparison results! I think the direct sampling method will continue to evolve. As you say, I agree that the IC705 is a great radio for most people.
