Hi. Thanks for the correction. Yeah, a bit of brain fade on my part. I should have looked it up before doing the video. I was remembering a different mic on a different rig that does have a switch for changing the audio tone. I’ll add a correction in the description for the video.
Thanks Tom another great video! I ordered the HM-151 from HRO and had it dropped shipped directly to Bob Nagy AB5N for his modification. He did the mod and shipped it out to me in no time. I'm very pleased with this mic and getting great signal reports.
Correct. That is one of the frustrations (for me at least) with the 7100. I find it difficult to read the display during the day unless the backlight is turned up. Then, at night the backlight is WAY too bright. I am usually in the settings menu twice a day turning the display brightness up and down. I have an idea for a project that may help this. Stay tuned…. de Tom WA2IVD
I have done the AB5N mod on my HM-151 but have gone back to the original as I was getting poor audio reports with the upgrade. I bought a second mic so I could easily compare them and consensus was that the stock mic sounded better.
Hi Andrew. Thanks for the information. That’s good to know. I’m going to hold off on any changes to my mic, at least until I see more reviews or reports.
Hi. I haven't had a need to send DTMF tones with my 7100, but I had always just assumed that the number buttons on the HM-151 would send tones if you pressed them while transmitting (like every other keypad mic that I've owned). I just went to my radio and confirmed that they don't. As far as I can find, there is no setting to make this happen. I did find an article about a DTMF keypad that retrofits on the back side of the HM-151 from Midian Electronics. Here is the URL for an installation manual: www.pc5e.nl/downloads/ic7000/Mods/ICOM-IC7000-HM-151-DTMF%20Mod.pdf After checking Midian's website, it looks like the product may no longer be available. If you really need this capability, you might try calling them to see if they have any old stock.
@HamRadioA2Z yeah I just did uploaded a video with the 151, 207 & a 207s. All 3 only did the "band stacking", I think that's what it is called. Anyways thanks for the link.
Hi Coy. In my reply to your other comment, I thought you were talking about recording the entire QSO. To record outgoing calls, check out these: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uDkMWTeMn1U.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oR2F6ueFi4g.html These videos are on the 7300, but the voice record functions are exactly the same on the 7100.
