3:44 “Yo Dough, why she hit you?” “Shut up, man!” 😂😂😂😂😂 UPDATE: Among the best things I love about Boyz n The Hood is Doughboy for his character and story development and Ice Cube’s performance in the role. Cube at the time was among the emerging hip-hopers in the 90s with his debut solo album AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted after leaving NWA. The guy may not have had attended drama class in school, never did a film, never did a TV show or a stage show but it was the encouragement from John Singleton due to their friendship that convinced Cube to get the part of Doughboy. John Singleton met Ice Cube when he was a member of backstage crew at the Arsenio Hall Show and even though Cube turned down the offer a couple times, I’m beyond glad he accepted the offer. For an inexperienced actor in a cinematic debut, Ice Cube did an awesome job playing Doughboy. He played the role as if he (Cube himself) never had a dad, is the subject of ridicule and verbal abuse by his mum who favours a brother of his and ends up as as a Rollin 60s Crip. He did it so damn convincingly that he should’ve got an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe - all three for “Best Supporting Actor” and MTV Movie Award for “Best Breakthrough Performance”. This was long before Cube did the Friday films (film series he also wrote/produced), Are We There Yet?, xXx 2 and 3, Fist Fight, Ride Along, 21/22 Jump Street, Ghost of Mars, the Barbershop films, Rampart, Tresspass etc If the Marc Webb-directed and Andrew Garfield-starred Amazing Spider-Man films were to conclude with a 3rd film (a 4 hour 3rd film to end the story) and if Ice Cube appeared in it - he would’ve been J Jonah Jameson (Daily Bugle newspaper boss). Imagine Andrew Garfield and Ice Cube in the same room! Wasted/missed opportunity in my opinion.
I like Ice Cube 🧊 …. But that’s a damn lie I seen a documentary on real LA gangsters that knew Cube and they all said he was a good kid that didn’t run the streets and was a born actor
That's true l am older than him lived as a child 2blocks from him all families in that area were 🏠 home owners and both parents in the homes no single parents there was gang members every few 🏠 homes very nice and still is nice area if anyone remember a interview where he stated growing up he thought he was Rich growing up???
111 yes he did not hang with them at all he did not have them kind of parents Ass kicked he went to school bused out of the area that was showed straight out of Compton most 111 were within w/ Eddie's and areas in between
Right but he was good he s hood was nice but was still in ghetto in fact the area he grew up is a crip hood so he new real gangstea he still got sweats by police monster Cody grew in nice hood like cube wit money but he chose to be monster cube chose music don't mean it not real cube said he was street report er
Suck how the guy who shoots Ricky after finishing acting for boyz n the hood he became a gang member thought by bieng in one was like in the movie he killed a person went to prision where he got killed by a satanist he could've of made more movies
🤔🤔 I wonder why they go out of their way to Place South Central as when the general south-central vicinity is the middle part of Los Angeles centered and Compton is southeast. Could it be to tie in and underline the stereotypes of certain sections to heighten the degree of perspective of a person's background? South Central and Compton are separate yet both have their own forms of intense environments.
Yeah, it's "those other people's faults" that those parts of LA used to be a war zone. There is definitely NO responsibility placed upon the people who lived there and made it such.
@Kenn Kenn true but just miss stating facts is the general disturbance here maybe had Ice Cube not came out initially with a group that mainly Express coming out from Compton it wouldn't have given way for the Miss understanding or location misidentification
He not even from Compton he from LA ..get that title right 😩 it's like being from Long Beach & y'all keep saying from Beverly hills. or sayin they from New Jersey but they from New York,, .U JUST DONT 😤 stop being lazy an do a goggle search or something
Compton is always and will be apart of south central LA its like you trying to separate those to areas and its hard when the world insist that south central & compton is both LA lol they are synnonmous with each other you can't mention south central with out mentioning compton visa-versa that simple fuck the political correctness south central compton watts is one but as getto that connected and is considered the greater part of los Angeles being that compton is not apart of the vally or the horbor areas it can only be apart of south central which is the largest getto in Los Angeles County , people like to say oh compton is apart of los Angeles County like it the furthest extended branch from the inner city intruth compton is connected to south central eastern borders yea compton is considered the greater part of the los Angeles area that means they LA LA over area that is considered the vally or horbor area.
@@dudeshack5577 Compton Is its own incorporated city with its own mayor its not apart of the city of L.A itself. That's like saying Oakland is in San Francisco
Cube probably hasn't lived in the hood in decades. Good for him though. He went from rapper, to actor, to movie producer, to even having a basketball big 3 tournament
These are good movies to watch. But young people need to understand rappers don't live the lives they rap about. It's all about publicity. Youngers do these things for real and throw there life away. I grew up listening to the old school Ice cube. Truthfully he was not from Compton
The south central neighborhood ice cube grew in is considered an old compton area" that is considered south central Los Angeles today you have to understand south central is a collection of communities .
It's been said before that Cube was an idiot for leaving NWA but that's not true because he made it as a solo rapper then came this movie Boyz as starring lead
